So far, Funimation has picked up 3 of the 5 shows I was at least mildly interested in this season, HiDive got 1, and the last still has no announcement.

What shows are they?

Funimation got Kemono Michi, After School Dice Club, and (shockingly, considering how much Crunchyroll markets the mobile game) Azur Lane. HiDive got Kandagawa Jet Girls and (considering where most of the past Studio 3Hz shows have ended up) I expect them to get Rifle Is Beautiful as well, but that one's still awaiting confirmation.

Just finished Carole and Tuesday myself. I felt like it ended on a good note. Having everything kinda end on a nice note for the whole group was a little unrealistic. I feel like Tuesday's mom just kinda turning face was maybe slightly unearned?

I give it an 8.5/10

Anyone else having this issue where during any high intensity moments, the video freezes for a couple seconds? Audio and subtitles are fine, but this shit made me find and watch elsewhere. What am I even paying crunchy for...

Crunchyroll's (new?) shitty ass video player

I watch Crunchyroll stuff through VRV, and I've almost never had a problem with VRV's player. You should switch to that service. It's only $2 more per month compared to Crunchyroll, and you get all of HiDive's anime library plus Rooster Teeth First (so you can watch new episodes of RWBY right away) and a bunch of other non-anime content added to what you already get with Crunchyroll.

The first episode of the Girls Frontline short anime aired in Japan today and has now been dubbed in Japanese. All of the characters appear to have the same voices as in the mobile game, including the infamous Yukari Tamura as M4 SOPMOD II.

Finished the movie. I don't care how much money I have to throw at Studio 3Hz to make it happen or how much longer I have to wait, but I want more BlackFox. I need more BlackFox, because that was absolutely incredible. I have to give it at least a 9/10.

More like they left it open to actually finish the 12-episode series it was originally planned to be. What we saw was essentially going to be the first major arc of the anime. It was even super easy to tell where each of the 4 "episodes" would have began and ended.

As soon as I saw the scene with her cooking, I knew she was going to be your pick for best girl. I liked Rikka/Lily from the start, but surprisingly, I ended up liking Mia the most by the end. It's very rare that I think the quiet, stoic girl is the best girl in an anime (the only ones I can immediately recall are Yuki Nagato in Haruhi and Kikyo in Inuyasha) but something about Mia just made her really stand out to me.

Anyways, after that awesomeness and typing this post, I'm totally burned out for the night. I'm going to bed now.

Same. I was hoping for NGNL, but as soon as Shieldbro got a 2nd/3rd season announced, I knew Kadokawa were going to shill the crap out of it.

Side note: both Raphtalia and Filo's English dub VA's were already in the cast of Isekai Quartet, with Raphtalia sharing her voice (Erica Mendez) with Megumin and Pack, and Filo (Brianna Knickerbocker) sharing her voice with Rem.

Catching up on anime today! Here we go!

Africa Salary-Man - At times it is funny, but not funny enough to deal with the way it looks (I'm not a fan) and the toucan is obnoxious to the point I dislike him.

After School Dice Club - Super cute. Has the same voice as the main girl from Yuru Camp, and a similar vibe in trying to get people into something they normally wouldn't maybe have been interested in. Definitely going to continue watching.

Dr. Stone - New opener not as good as the first, but great episode this week!

Still have Vinland Saga to catch up on, Black Fox to watch, Babylon has 3 episodes available, and more from Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Looks like Kandagawa Jet Girls is going the Senran Kagura S2 route, airing on normal TV (and streaming on HiDive) with fairly strong censorship but airing uncensored on the premium AT-X channel in Japan. I fully expect the uncensored version to be floating around somewhere.

Finished Granbelm to episode 6, show's getting crazy

I think Suisho is most likely to become the villain

White Lily vs Ji Guang Long was dope. I'm kinda thinking that Mangetsu might be some kind of midichlorian baby but with the Magiconatus instead.

That stuff with Ernesta and Anna was a bummer though. I knew she gave up too easy.

Nah I waited around specifically cuz there was no way she'd give up that easy, lol. I bet people that did were wide-eyed at episode 7 though.

I think 7's been my favorite so far, I really dig Viola Katze and Shingetsu's fighting style is really slick. Using shadow hands to pull herself out of trouble is top notch dodging.

Sad ending to that one, though I believe I did spot two references. I'll post em a bit later, gonna try to knock out a few more episodes first.

That episode was so amazing, not just for the incredible action, but for Anna easily clinching the title of the angriest woman in the entire season.




*spoilers for episodes 6 and 7, but not further*

I also loved how these two episodes painted Shingetsu and Mangetsu in a gray light, almost in an attempt to make us question if they're really the heroes of the story. Shingetsu was shown as a cold-blooded fighter who was merely blessed by magic, while Anna worked so hard to get where she was (and even pulled multiple "fighting spirit comebacks" in that fight) yet she stood no chance. And then there's Mangetsu...




She basically acknowledged in this scene that she has no reason to fight in Granbelm other than for the sake of fighting. On top of that, while everyone else has her goals and ambitions that mean a lot more to them, Mangetsu is not only totally okay with destroying their dreams for the sake of her selfish desire to keep feeling special (by fighting) but is excited to do so. She's like a battle maniac who fights just for the sake of fighting and grows stronger just for the sake of fighting more, no matter what or who she crushes in the process... all because it's her only source of self-worth.

I couldn't have articulated it better myself. IMO a nice ending would be Mangetsu realizing what makes her more than "nothing" is her selflessness, not just that she can fight and if Granbelm is as it seems and not some trickery then using the Princeps to grant everyone their wishes. But I dunno if that'll fly <_<

Anna flipping her lid was a treat, her VA has some fantastic pipes.

Regarding the aforementioned references, at one point during the ep7 fight Mangetsu has a Newtype flash, from Gundam of course. The second was from Getter Armageddon:

I honestly don't know how Yoko Hikasa's vocal chords didn't explode from all of that. I was legit concerned that all of the screaming she did in Granbelm might negatively affect her singing in Symphogear XV airing the same season, but everything turned out okay. Way better than okay, actually.
