WickIebee 07/31/19 2:37:59 AM #1:	I felt interested in doing this topic, I might not be too perfect at replying tonight and maybe you'll have to wait till like the afternoon to get my responses, but I promise to start this. Basically, I'll run this like a Marry/Screw/Maim sort of thing where you name a topic, and I'll say something within it that's properly rated, underrated, and overrated in it. I'm probably going to be very bad at this and I do have some opinions that will bite me after a point, but maybe some people will have fun? Uh, honestly... For the sake of it, never do episodes of something. I'm not really great at knowing popularity of episodes, hell, I'm probably not going to be great at Television in general, so maybe avoid it? Also, try to avoid general subjects, like don't do video games in general, but instead name a series or genre. Obviously you don't have to cover video games, but depending on the subject, I might be out of touch outside of this board. --- I'll just go back to gifs. Properly Rated: Let's say... Cecil Harvey. He may not have created the evil turning good type of character, but I think he showed a fantastic way to show it through video games. He's a highly respected video game character, especially in SMFFFC, and to me, he does deserve it for his time. Plus, he's not really considered one of the best characters of all time, and that works for him. Underrated: In these FFs, there's a lot of characters to dislike, but most of the time they deserve it. Instead, underrated might be someone I think isn't spoken of enough, and to me, that's Josef. Josef was a true bro, Minwu teaches the FF2 player the importance to get spells and level it up, while Josef shows you just how strong you can get while focusing on one weapon-type. But also teaches you that you shouldn't rely on one weapon-type, since enemies might be resistant. Plus, ~~he dies like a beast.~~ Overrated: I want to say Terra, but her detractors are loud. Her fans just go hard on support since she has loud dislikers, so I'd have to say Kefka instead. He's not that funny. Yes, I find some of his scenes entertaining, but people act like his quotes are god sent sometimes. And it's like... Not... Really? Granted, I haven't quite beat FF6, but I doubt he's gonna add much prior to his final boss fight. StartTheMachine posted... Properly Rated. It has a lot of detractors and has never reached the 'beloved' stage all Zelda games have gone through for good reasons. It spends way too much time backtracking, motion control systems were funky and definitely went wrong, it doesn't get only hate, however, since it has some praises in characters and a couple dungeons being enjoyed. Narrative-focused indie games This gets tough, I didn't nominate much for BIGE since I have trouble just finding what would be Indie, and maybe you can criticize my choices by not being minor enough, but for now, let's try this. Properly Rated: Based on its results in B8's 100 Games, I'm gonna have to say Hat in Time. Though if you haven't played it, I massively suggest you do. Most people who have played it can proclaim it as one of the best platformers of this decade, maybe specifying 3D, just to not compete with the Metroidvania market, ahaha~ It's a charming game that really brings out multiple genres in one game. Some 3D Platformers have horror themed levels, but you don't always get a narrative of selling your soul to a devil and then navigating a haunted house that you have to hide from an instant kill threat like a true survival horror game, it's fantastic. Underrated: One of my immediate thought processes was actually Hyperdimension Neptunia, but not really targetting a single game within the series. Neptunia is a game that basically appeals to the anime market and is made my Idea Factory, which mostly produces Otome games. The Neptunia games really do merge anime and games, and usually get stuck to appealing to people that like both mediums, but in reality, I think it could appeal to much more if people break out of just staring at the cover and thinking it's just another loli game. The Neptunia series is funny, between breaking the fourth wall to never ending references, the game series can appeal to many more gamers than just the people who watch anime on the side. And heck, still many of those gamers don't hear enough of this series. It's the console wars as joked around with a little fanservice and anime tropes, but a humor that fits our current generation with characters like Deadpool roaming freely and a game like my next one. Overrated: Undertale. Before you close out of this topic, I want to say I don't think this game is unplayable. Don't think I'll yell at you for playing this game like some haters of it. It's just the uncontrollable raving of the game and me playing did not really match up. It has great elements, and I do think Toby Fox deserves praise and people buying this game, but it's not a masterpiece that deserved to win Best Game Ever. Even though it was nice to see a fresh face and not just OoT winning (and I'm a massive Zelda fan, you'll hear me say that over and over again). There's a lot of raving on characters, and their humor didn't stick with me. I disliked a bunch of them, to the point that seeing all this love is why I have this overrated opinion of the game. In addition, I think there's an obnoxious case that you have weapons and armor, weapons only work for Genocide (~~But inevitably you basically barely use the added bonus for attack, since most things late game will die regardless of your weapon, especially considering a few bosses turn into chumps~~). Maybe I'm forgetting something, but I felt disappointed in some mechanics, and I find there's better bullet hells out there. Not that I'm any good at the genre, ahaha~ Whew, guess I'm only doing this one in this post. --- I'll just go back to gifs. Underrated: When it comes to comic book villains, some guys are going to fly under the radar when they're just not appearing in movies, so people don't know them. For me, I'll just name someone who hasn't popped into a movie just yet, and that's Mysterio. He definitely has his praises, but definitely falls short of most of Spider-Man's entourage of villains. And Mysterio has been left out of so many Spiderman films, since they don't go long enough to start tapping into villains like him or Shocker. I can just hope something eventually proves me wrong. This stuntman deserves his time in a movie spotlight. Plus will be really awesome on the big screen. Overrated: Loki. The man is revered just because some hot dude played him in the MCU. But his shenanigans are boring as hell. There's a lot of villains I can call overrated due to popularity in movies, but I want to target Loki here. Name one thing Loki can do besides attempt to trick someone into doing what he wants. But yeah, just a lovely Pokemon that can make an opponent avoid the use of two types of moves if it's swapped in against a move it doesn't absorb. Or just being a fun typing for regular play, doesn't have to be debated to be good in pro-play (since you know... it's kind of not). Overrated: I can go everywhere with this, and most people have already heard my rants on some of my favorites to insult. I think I'll avoid Gen 1 in total and just say Aggron. Overused with a specific strat and one of the most used Steel-types despite there being cooler non-Legendary Pokemon everywhere. I guess to me, Aggron was just sitting on a "Oh look, another big dude." And like there's 4 of those in Gen 3 alone, but everyone went rampant on this thing. And it especially soured me when there's constantly underrated Steel-types for being unique and cool, and then we have raving about this dude who opens his butthole anytime a Pokemon knows Earthquake (you know, the most used move?) He is someone who got recognized as a fantastic chef by Krauss and Natsuhi and was invited into a shunning atmosphere because he was a little arrogant due to wanting to be accepted by the rest of the family despite not being an official Ushiromiya servant. And unlike some characters, Gohda's heroics don't go mentioned. Episode 2 spoilers: ~~His fight to protect Shannon and George from Beatrice and her goats should not go unnoticed.~~ Overrated: Beatrice. During second read through of this series, I realize... It's not as fun to listen to Beatrice keep spattering out knowledge that inevitably... doesn't really matter at the time. Plenty of characters in the series just get a bit more wordy than they need to be and being the main witch, she's the main one on this side. Chiru spoilers: ~~Plus she's literally a non-entity after ep 4 and then literally more character shifting after that. For the intent of this, sure. I'm not skipping anything else, but I'll just do this topic as not exactly over/underrated, but more just the topic. Most of my top "cute girl" stuff in FF, especially my primary two in SMFFFC right now being Relm and Adelle are more for story reasons. I do wish Adelle was experienced by more FF fans though. For actual attraction properties, I really like Tifa's design through Advent and even the HD remake as well as I think Rinoa would be really attractive in better graphics. Rikku and Celes as well are up there, and actually even Rosa, though the last one's personality is a little... uh... not there. Ones I don't find as attractive... I don't like Eiko's design, and... When gauntlet did their full ranking, it was 3rd behind Mononoke and Spirited Away. All three movies are fantastic and I think all three deserve that segment. But I think more people should see Laputa if they liked any Ghibli movies and haven't seen it. Underrated: The Wind Rises: Fantastic movie about the first attempts to fly, it's more historical, so didn't sit right with most Ghibli fans, but you should realize that it's a better movie that just the same old basic formula. We had comments of it lacking the magic of Hayao, and I can't disagree more. Overrated: Kiki's Delivery Service, while I just praised Jiji, I meant it when he's the best parts of the movie. Properly Rated: Karma Chameleon by Culture Club. You know, looking at this song to make sure it was the song I thought it was, was the first time I realized it was sung by Boy George. Lol me. Lasted 3 weeks, which it rightfully deserved, only to be ousted by Jump, which deserved its time. This song is one of the few that will never stop me from singing along to it when it appears on a radio in Saints Row 3. Underrated: Take on Me by aha. Lasted only one week and lost to Whitney Houston, boo. Overrated: There's a lot you can probably name, and I'd love to see other people's opinion on this one. Take one song that you think shouldn't have hit #1 when it did, either because it shafted a song you think belonged at #1, or maybe even cut the reign of a song you love short while you dislike it. Now, I don't think Footloose is a bad song, but Holding Out For a Hero came out partway through its reign and I think it could have been cut short, because that song deserved a #1 week. Anytime you have a full ranking, Laputa will generally have a good rank. When gauntlet did their full ranking, it was 3rd behind Mononoke and Spirited Away.
