Klays best bet is probably signing a 1+1 I think.

He could then opt out next season in a barren looking FA market and get maxed out either by Warriors or another team. Alternatively he can play the 2 years and then hes eligible for 10 year player max contract. Could also be eligible for supermax in 2 years time (which he isn't now)

Pre-injury, Durant staying/leaving felt kinda 50/50 to me as someone who called his going to the Warriors, the media definitely seemed to be driving it as more likely than I thought it was, but it was definitely a legit possibility in my mind.

Always felt Klay was staying.

I think the injuries make it more likely Durant stays, not just in the "takes the player option" sense, but longer-term, though the deal might not be made until next year depending on how the player option stuff goes down.

Opting in does add an element of risk in that if his rehab goes badly he might not get a max in 2020. With it being Durant though I'm sure someone risks it anyway

Taking a max ensures he gets his money and also let's him integrate with his team during the rehab process and have input on the direction they go in.

I think he is trying to say Klay might not be the same player when he returns so do you want to tie up 32m+ a year on him.

If they don't resign Klay and Durant leaves they have about 30m in cap space I think. Draymond and Iggy are expirings so potentially movable if they really wanted to blow it up and those 2 account for 35m

In 20/21 Currys money is the only money on the books.

Just blow it up. Klay may never be the same, Durant will opt in and skip the entire season to rehab on the warriors dime then leave. Steph will never be a closer . Iggys getting older, Draymond is still great but his offense has seriously regressed. Just blow it up the dynasty is over.

I honestly think the Pelicans are a significantly better team after this trade and that's without even factoring in the picks they got. Ball, Ingram, Zion, Jrue is a pretty nice core. If they flip that 4 pick for a decent player they are probably playoff bound.

The Lakers are gonna suffer from a severe lack of depth. Lebron and AD are going to have to play so many minutes and games due to having no bench

I'm gonna assume they flip Jrue now, too. He's too old to grow with these guys.
