And in the end, gamefaqs is proving to primarily be a Nintendo board. As a fan of Samus too, I really dont understand her huge popularity other than the bad ass chick in armor.

Its also interesting seeing the geographic distributions. In Japan and Russia, the votes are almost flipped.

The overall Metroid legacy probably does wonders to help her, and this is something that will never really be tarnished. Samus has starred in two games often considered to be among the best ever made, something which few characters can really claim.

Also I think Samus gets by somewhat on because in spite of her lack of mainstream popularity, she's very recognizable to anyone with a passing familiarity to Nintendo - which is pretty much the entire demographic of a site like this. I know when I was in school I just started talking about Samus to a friend and he knew who I was talking about.

For what it's worth, Tifa's match pic is on-par if not better than most of her pics in Tifa/Sephiroth in 2010.

That pic is the funniest pic EVER to be in a GameFAQs contest.

I mean, just LOOK at him. It looks like he tried to impersonate the really handsome and sharp Phoenix Wright, but he failed miserably. Further more, the pic makes the Vincent quote so much more fitting. XD

Its become the laughingstock of the online gaming community because the user base mainly consists of rabid, diehard NintenDrones in their 30s.

You cant praise other consoles or criticize Nintendo products and/or business practices without being ridiculed and moderated to hell. The administration, many of whom are diehard Nintendo cultists themselves, wanted it this way.

Its sad what this site could have been if all platforms and fanbases were given equal respect...

Analysis

While I expected to see this match a little later in the contest, it was a struggle to choose between these two characters. A decent boost from Breath of the Wild would have placed Ganondorf within striking distance on Mega Man. After watching these two characters perform, I still think the chance for the upset is still here.

I give full props to Pikachu for winning his match, but at the same time he did get 56% against Zero which I see is comparable to what Ganondorf got against Dante. While some people may look at the performance against Vivi and think both Mega Man and Pikachu should be able to do better, I remind you that this Vivi is a lot stronger than what we have seen. He easily dispatched a Donkey Kong that easily rocked his four-pack which included Tidus and Leon Kennedy.

While Zelda has a bigger reason to boost from Breath of the Wild, I doubt Ganondorf would get nothing. Regardless, I suspect this match will be close, which will then set up another close encounter with Pikachu in the following round.

Analysis

On paper this should be an easy victory for Bowser, but I feel Alucard will make things quite difficult. Its quite clear that he has boosted since the last we have saw him, even against a weaker Cloud almost breaking 40% is quite impressive. If we hold Sora constant from 2010 this match would be quite the nail-biter. Of course, it is more likely that Sora is a bit weaker now while Bowser also has reason to be slightly stronger.

One of the downsides of the losers bracket is that it spoils the match for the championship bracket. If the match ends in a nail-biter or a blowout for one character we can pretty much deduce who wins between Cloud and Crono. If we were to make Cloud and Crono equals then Bowser would get 56.12% against Alucard, any massive deviation from that number will likely seal the victory for one of those characters.

It's not just the extreme hard-on for Nintendo on this site that annoys me, it's all the Sony fanboys constantly bashing anything Microsoft related. The PC and XBO boards are all but dead, so unless you game on a Switch or a PS4, there's not much for you on this site.

Some game message boards here are decent. GameFAQs has a joke of a mod team, but somehow a lot of reddits manage to be even worse, mostly due to overmanaging content. I wouldn't come here much but there is some appeal to the site beyond b8.

This is stupid and no wonder why rallies are not catching up anymore. Most people don't find it offensive that a site like gameFAQs exists or feel the need to attack it. It's just some naturally toxic people like this interwebuser dude.

This moment in time is probably the lowest Square has been since the merger, Konami is down, Capcom is still recovering its rep from being hated so much that their fans gave millions of dollars to have one of the biggest jokes in crowdfunding made. These are the traditional top non-Nintendo.

Meanwhile Nintendo just released an incredibly hot Pokemon game, massively well-received Mario and Zelda games, and has Smash about to come out.

Look at Alucard. He boosted a ton, and I have no doubt it's because of Castlevania on Netflix actually being a hot product.

What is the hottest upcoming Square/Konami/Capcom? A remake that we've heard basically nothing about for years? The hottest actual upcoming game related to those companies might be Bloodstained, a game that is being made because of someone Konami drove off.
