I get what you're saying though.

I'll admit I completely forgot KHIII was coming out, but I looked things up and KHIII is small compared to Breath of the Wild/Odyssey/Pokemon Let's Go hype in general.

Really the only inexplicable part is Samus being so popular, but that's always been a thing here (and if the Metroid Prime 4 announcement was literally anything other than saying Metroid Prime 4 is being worked on it would probably be crushing KHIII's trailers outside of Toy Story).

This 1000%. There are some great game boards, and in spite what the millennials will tell you, there is a veritable goldmine of game resources here that are simply NOT duplicated anywhere else on the net.

Pikachu was correct; but Sonic (and the rest) were not. Points were awarded properly, just the count was broken.

I specifically mentioned Pikachu and Sonic as examples of stats that I think were incorrect, but Allen admits that Pikachu's number was correct.

Looking back on the stats page, the only ones that changed were Cloud/Crono/Zelda/Sonic.

I mostly use the word millennial ironically when I do (which isn't often) but saying it's "every group I dislike" is incorrect and dumbing it down a lot. There's a pretty specific personality profile I'll call millennial and it has nothing to do with me liking or disliking them.

It's just the competition you have to play to have your topic noticed in big subreddits can be really annoying

Thankfully smaller subreddits are usually very nice

Well it depends if the content you want is fanart and memes or if you want to actually be able to use the search function in a meaningful way rather than having all the useful stuff segregated into daily or weekly megathreads.

There's a collection of item and enemy upgrade values for Breath of the Wild that was posted on reddit and it's impossible to find them with reddit's options, you have an easier time finding them through google than reddit's own site. If they were posted here? They would be right there in the FAQ list or stickied at the top of the board. Not to mention the search function on boards compared to a pre-determined list of "hot" "new" "controversial" which are useless labels and don't really help.

Some are in wikis, some are in sidebars, some are in pinned topics

There is unfortunately a limit on pinnned topics unlike gamefaqs game boards

Reddit is better if you're bad at looking things up I guess because yeah most communities heavily encourage you asking every question you have fresh in a megathread due to OCD-like management of topics that ask questions rather than just... looking it up, like you could do on a GameFAQs forum.

As such the community's reaction is kinder in those situations because it's encouraged, rather than GameFAQs which will have jackasses point out the other topics made on the question. But at the same time it makes the process less efficient for someone who might have a lot of questions and doesn't want to wait for an assortment of posters to answer their questions piecemeal.

Some have some good persistent resources like wikis and stuff but yeah in general I would say the useful gaming reddit is the exception (but the exceptions are quite good) and not the norm.

For today's match, I like all characters.

Reddit's always seemed really bad to me about the retention of key information. In its peak days, GameFAQs would have a couple of stickies on every major game board with all the info about that game that was very helpful to know, along with some common Q&A. They were so useful - especially if you're like me and don't actually like following guides, but do want some advice to avoid major pitfalls and help get up to speed. Those kinds of resources don't fit well with most subreddits from what I've seen (or Wikis).
