Mewtwo... it's hard to say about him. He definitely looks better than Charizard, because I wouldn't expect Terra to get 60% on even a weakened GlaDOS. I wouldn't say it's impossible for Mewtwo to be at Pikachu's level if he stays at about 64%. Even a greatly weakened GlaDOS could be stronger than Scorpion.

Crono is also going to have just one match before the Crono/Cloud showdown to evaluate his strength. I think if Crono can go above 60% on Bowser/Kirby/Charizard, then he should be the favorite to beat Cloud.

I don't think Geno has even increased in strength since the Squall/Geno match in 2005 where Squall fell just slightly short of 75%. Tifa is only slightly below Squall in strength and the trends for this match should mean that Tifa likely finishes close to 74%.

It's a bit surprising that Geno seems to be the same guy that faced Squall in 2005 given that SMRPG has been released on Virtual Console for both Wii and Wii U, which should definitely have improved the game's playrate as the original SNES game wasn't exactly the easiest game to obtain back then.

I'd say that SMRPG might be one of the rare exceptions given the original SNES game wasn't really the easiest game to obtain back then. Like, those who had played the Paper Mario games but not SMRPG might be more tempted to buy the port on Wii or Wii U to see what the game was like.

Even if the re-release on Wii and Wii U was mainly being purchased by those who had already played the game before, it can still help out in other ways like jumpstarting those feelings of nostalgia who are just now replaying the game after having not played it since many years earlier.

Sephiroth has a bit of a history of taking Nintendo characters on a roll and smacking them down to earth. He did to Mario in 2005, Mizno in 2010, and Kirby in 2013. Mewtwo is the exception, but who knows what happens if GameFAQs doesn't sell him out in favor of Pokefear to fight the Draven menace. And then there's the x-factor of being the Noble Niner not excluded here. He could still be capable of beating anyone in the main bracket.
