I picked Ocelot so I can't say I saw this coming really.

But thinking on it, this kinda feels like where Dedede should be in this year that Nintendo has looked so good? Dedede being weak was one of those things I found kinda mindboggling when I read it in the contest analyses this year (I had forgotten his actual matches)... Kirby is pretty big and he's a well-liked character with a distinct design and is often quite funny (an awful lot like Bowser, actually, just obviously Mario > Kirby in general). Him being supposedly weaker than Meta-Knight never made a lick of sense to me, I've definitely run into more Dedede fans personally.

Dedede being weaker than Meta Knight makes perfect sense because all the Kirby characters get most of their strength from their designs and Smash and Meta Knight is superior to Dedede in both.

Do you think Meta Knight would be losing to Ocelot right now? I don't.

Based on the current result, if Mewtwo = Pikachu, GlaDOS beats Scorpion with 54.01%.

If Mewtwo = Charizard, Terra beats GlaDOS with 61.32%.

Meta-Knight vs. Ocelot would have been a heavily debated match pre-contest, but after the second Nintendo boost was revealed, MK would have become the favorite for sure.

also Ocelot's nearly doubling Dedede there so if he can't take the lead by morning he's pretty much dead

Ehhh, nobody on this site really cares about post-Gen 2 Pokemon, but they do love old games from the 90s. This isn't too mindblowing of a result.

Hmmm... is it me, or has Nintendo not had a very good day vote this contest? It seems like the best time is always the first few hours, which could be a good sign for Ocelot.

Yeah, Ocelot may take the lead for a bit, but really doubt he will be able to hang on to it during the day, he needed to be in the lead by now to have a good chance of winning this match

Its still 830am in the UK. He will be ahead in 2h and It will be a photo finish.

Were registered voters for Dedede as well?

If so Ocelot has the tailing off of those votes to his advantage as well

Look how active the Smash Ultimate board is, clearly at least a few people come here to talk about directs. Odds are a fair amount of them will go to the homepage and vote

Currenty, Ocelot is at 50.23% with registered users and 50.44% with anonymous users. I'm surprised it was actually that close. This could still change later on.

It's probably coming out in a couple months.

Best case scenario we get another contest next year so we can have some influence.

I really doubt it makes any real difference. Smash is a month away. People coming here to talk about Smash are probably already doing that or st the very least have been since the direct was announced.
