This is what I did with my Defense.

If you don't have a Dancer or multiple units able to pass the Lightning Trap, it's impossible to engage first from the left after destroying the Healing Tower without getting a +20 Gronnblade Nino blast (Azura and Eirika running both Tactics Seals), then another one after she's been danced.

Then if you take too long to set up the initial attack, you have to destroy the Aether Fountain to get to Hector, so maybe I can weasel out a few stall victories that way.

No. It only gives bonus Aether to the attacking party. It doesn't hurt the defending party.

not sure if i should upgrade my amphorae again, and if so, what structures i should make/upgrade to get the dew (i really hate this dew system where i have to spend one type of currency to get another btw).

also dang i just got knocked out of the top 3000 at 3440. lost one match entirely on turns to this weird setup with a Cherche i could never engage and an Effie i couldn't kill (with no green in my team).

Yeah I'm at 3400 also knocked out of top 3000. Had some blunders. Lost units to dumb stuff a couple of times and had one loss to an upgraded defense fort that had a +10 Fjorm I couldn't kill. Should have got one more match in to get to 3500 but my last battle had a really obnoxious setup for getting their aether stores so I'm sitting on 36 Aether I can't spend

Also I'm annoyed you don't get any lift for successful defenses, as I had one.

I basically gave up on aether raids after getting the daily reward. Guess I'm the contrarian because I don't really find it fun at all.

i find it fun on offense but i don't find building a defense to be fun at all so i didn't bother.

I liked the mode better when it first started but I'm pretty much happy for any new mode that isn't mindless grinding. The weird terrain and objectives to kill the aethers makes it play differently

The offense just feels like arena with trap guesswork to me, and arena is already like my least favorite mode lol. FE PVP is just not my jam I think.

I don't think the gameplay is really that similar to Arena. You generally have a stat advantage cause of how the forts work and can pick when to pick a fight because of the weird terrain and passive enemy AI.

Arena is more about not getting anyone killed and funneling kills into your bonus unit. This mode is hitting the objectives of killing their dangerous units, killing their aethers, often while leaving one of their less dangerous units alive you do these things, all in 7 turns.

Has some similarities to arena but plays pretty differently imo

Word of warning so you guys don't waste aether like me

Those Aether raid quests give bonus Aether not shards, and your Aether can't go above max, so don't be like me and exchange em hoping to get material for buildings and then waste 200 aether as a result

EDIT: Oh wait no it's not it's some weird fluff material. Expecting quests to give something useful oh silly me.

That clutter makes pretty nice obstacles for the enemy. I've been pretty lazy about putting together a nice defense map, but they should be useful for that

A 2 character banner with 2 OCs no one cares about? Fucking yikes. The only temptation for me on this banner is Ylgr's dagger, since I just finished my +10 Kaze and that dagger looks really good for him. But other than that, big bleh.

Surtr is technically the top ranked non-beast unit in CYL2 who isn't in the game yet. He was only in one chapter at the time so opinions may have changed since then but in theory he at least used to have fans.

I get your point, but I don't care about the aethers because the mode isn't fun so I don't want to play it more (also the amount you gain is worthless), so for me it's really just arena-but-with-annoyances. Like enemies being passive and the time limit and traps, none of which I'd consider good additions.

hey I just started playing, how does support work? I've been having Hector and Myrrh support each other for what feels like hundreds of battles but I'm not seeing a rank up. Does it take a long time or am I doing it wrong?

Did you start the support in Interact with Allies -> Ally Support? If you already have, you'll just need to do more battles.

This game is super weird, I remember record keeper inspired me to play every final fantasy game (as was the point I think) but if I want to play fire emblem games... the good majority are just unavailable to buy. How much does a SNES/NES heck even DS to 3DS port cost to make? They have to be missing big bucks by never releasing the majority of their games

yeah it was. at the time i asked i couldn't do anymore battles and you have to actually press the battle button to be able to adjust your offense teams. i got there by upgrading my amphorae to level 3 before the season started.

though i just realized, i could have not used all my aether yesterday and waited until just before the reset to start battling tonight to save myself 80 lift loss. oh well.
