Personally I think Kirito and Asuna are borderline nauseating with how lovey-dovey they are once they're "officially" together and that was my biggest gripe with the show.....but I guess yea I can't say it was drawn out leading up to that point.

izzy is such a nerd

I've finished all three Kizumonogatari movies. The first two were really solid and I enjoyed them a lot. The third one, while also good, was quite a bit of a step down for reasons that I'm still trying to organize in my thoughts. I will say that the series' animation style worked a whole lot better in these movies, basically achieving a consistent greatness that I only occasionally glimpsed in Bakemonogatari. It might be a little difficult stepping back into the past with Nisemonogatari next, but I guess I'll see! Also, Hanekawa is still the best.

Seriously Hanekawa is amazing. How does a guy go through all of that with a girl and then fall for a completely different, vastly inferior girl. I don't get it. Throughout all this vampire craziness she was playful, cheerful, insightful, and constantly supportive. The only real problem involving her was that the breast fondling segment in the third movie was too over-the-top and went on way too long for my tastes, and even that was mostly Araragi's fault for being a creep. With these movies and the development she received in Bakemonogatari, Hanekawa is steadily climbing my favorite anime characters list!

Anyway, I could list a few other minor complaints, but my major problem with the third movie was that I'm still not sure how I feel about the resolution to the dilemma of Araragi becoming human by killing the murderous vampire. After living hundreds of years, I can sympathize with her desire to die, and they handled the psychology of that really well with her being ready to die until it was actually happening and then she became scared and wanted to be saved. She didn't seem to have that same doubt after their battle though. Dying for someone else's sake is probably easier than dying in other ways, so maybe fulfill that wish and kill her instead of turning her into a literal shadow of her former self who can't do anything anymore? That just seemed kind of cruel, especially compared to the alternative of her dying to restore him, which I think would've been really poignant and a fitting end. I mean, is she cursed to live forever, no matter the quality of that existence, just because Araragi will never want to let her go? I realize this complaint is super philosophical and someone else could have a completely different, equally valid view of this, but it bugged me.

Still, I guess I should wait and see how she develops in future seasons. That might justify this decision. She was already more than a nameless shadow even just by the end of Bakemonogatari, after all.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to continuing Monogatari tomorrow.

Uhhh....hmmm. I could give a response to this, but it would involve sort of spoiling stuff that happens later on in the series, so I don't think I'm going to. Suffice to say the show is aware of this and what you're describing is more or less the what the show is trying to convey.

Anyways for Kizumonogatari movies, 1 > 3 > 2 imo.

as you watch more you will begin to associate each girl to a certain quality/aspect of himself, I'm not going to spoil it for you but basically think of them as not a harem but as moe manifestations of what he expects of people in his life

and Sakamoto Maaya's performance as all three Heart Under Blade in 3 was amazing, she had a slightly different range for each of them, truly one of the greatest loli voices on the planet today

Fall Anime Write-ups Day 2

Index S3 - woooo its about fucking time. Cant wait for more Misaka and more Touma punching people in the face. Hopefully it will feature very little of Index herself and then hopefully next year we get Railgun S3.

Tokyo Ghoul re2 - not sure Ill ever get back into this anime series. Sounds like the manga is the way to go if you ever want to experience it, but I dunno if Id want to read it either. What an exciting write-up.

Goblin Slayer - a priestess forms an adventuring party, but they get in trouble and a dude called Goblin Slayer saves them. He wont rest until hes exterminated every last goblin....arent goblins usually like weak low level trash? Maybe they stole all his manga or insulted his looks or something (more cliched and likely is that they killed his family/friends). Anyways Ill probably check it out.

Tomorrow JoJo Part 5, Reincarnated as a Slime and Bloom Into You

Goblin Slayer episode 1 is gonna be rough for me to get through. I hear it gets good after that, though.

That was 100% the point. What Araragi did was evil, cruel, and the wrong decision. Araragi couldn't kill her, and he couldn't join her, so he did the only other thing he could think of. Araragi in general is supposed to be sort of a criticism of harem protagonists. How them interfering in girls' lives isn't actually a good thing, and their self-sacrificing tendencies are extremely unhealthy (this comes up more in other arcs). You'll notice throughout the series that if Araragi can make a choice that results in him suffering, he'll usually do it. Suruga's arc is probably the main example of this from what you've seen so far, though Kizu definitely fits that too.

Incidentally, there's a later arc that takes place between Kizu and Bake, so I think you'll enjoy seeing that, Roba.
