I thought it was a cute and fun little thing, and the better of the two filler episodes this season. And I didnt even hate that one even with the plot silliness it had at points.

I think people say everyone liking him is one of the many harem tropes the series makes fun of or something. I didnt watch as many seasons as the others, but your gripes with the animation wont change. They follow the same formula art/animation wise for the other series in it I saw anyways

One example was during their date when Araragi said multiple times that he didn't like all the mean things she said and did, but then when the switch flipped and she was being nice he was like 'lol I love everything about you'. No you don't, you don't like the mean side and you said as much multiple times.

I feel like you totally missed the point of this scene. This is him being tsundere, not her. He loves it when she teases him, and only pretends not to like it to keep things fun. Then he flips to dere later and confesses that he loves everything about her.

And yes episode 12 is the greatest anime episode

The Monogatari series has many strong points.

Character development being one of them, the cast has grown to a pretty good size, with most of the characters receiving their arcs that sees them grow and this changes a lot of the dynamics within the series.

It ends up making lesser liked characters more popular as time goes on as well.

The park scene in snail's story being one such scene that showed how Senjougahara was progressing.

For all the harem stuff you see, Senjougahara x Araragi is still one of the better couples I've seen in anime.

I will say for Roba's benefit--classification of Senjougahara into a character type is somewhat of a traditional talking point for the Monogatari series. (Moreso on Reddit than on here which is why it caught me offguard a bit, but yeah).

For example there are people who like to describe Senjougahara as a tsundere/yandere/kuudere all at once.

Personally I just don't think tropes are a good framework with which to describe her, but if I had to classify her as a traditional character archetype then tsundere is probably the one I would pick.

It doesn't help that as some people have said, half of the time she's herself invoking the trope and acting in a certain way because it's a trope rather than because it's her actual personality.

A lot of people call the episode the best of the series and since theyre such huge fans of it extend it to the best of anime in general. Theyre basically all mega Senjou and Monogatari fans though because theres no reason to like it if youre not

I gave Bake a 9 and thought ep 12 was the best anime episode! Gunbuster is the other contender, and that's a 9/10 series rather than 10/10 too. Just because it's the best series doesn't mean it has the best single episode!

Even for stuff I give 10s too I cant remember some stuff without looking it up. Like if somebody said S1 ep19 of Titan was amazing I could probably ballpark guess what area they were talking about, but Id have to look it up to see what the episode was. I mean Ive played P3 like 6 times and cant recall all of it perfectly. Some of us just dont have the memory

Finding anime feels so much harder now with so many people getting in on the streaming biz and my laptop being too shit to use. Fucking HiDive, Amazon, VRV, Crunchy. Funimation, Netflix, etc. I want to check out some Winter stuff, but some of them are delayedcasts and others on services I dont have so it feels like my options are really limited :/

I definitely don't remember all the episodes for a lot of shows, but in some series they stand out more than others. Monogatari having clearly defined arcs helps. I'd struggle a lot more with specific episodes of Nise (episode numbers at least - I do remember a fair chunk of individual episodes).

I had taken it probably more seriously than I should have, so I appreciate you clarifying this. Senjougahara struck a lot of tsundere chords for me to the point where I accepted the nickname at face value but I think I'll watch through the rest of the series before arguing the point further given that she might change.

Even at first I feel like she's not really tsundere. More just that she enjoys teasing Araragi. Like, for a series you've seen, Zero-Two teases Hiro all the time, but she's definitely not a tsundere.
