I dunno, while I admit it is suspicious that all of Paul's vote come from that specific alt and I can't really give you a good reason why he'd use it, I feel like it's very slippery to ban without some sort of hard and concrete evidence of wrongdoing. In fact, this is probably the only time I can ever remember it being done by any host. It's circumstantial. I mean, I could offer you up my suspicions on certain users rallying people into the contest, but I can't really give hard proof.

They save nothing I like usually, but I feel this may have been the wrong move.

There's a pretty long history of this really. The Great_Ball thing is kinda new, but for many years they've participated in a similar fashion in SMDC and others.

And for what it's worth, Stifled participates in KotM and Paul doesn't always. Stifled voted alone in the last round I ran of Save My Superhero. If anyone was wanting to cheat, KotM is a very easy contest to rig for yourself because the votals are always low and it's very slow moving. I just don't buy it.

I'd be interested in their saving patterns, like what they save, more than their times (which I'm fairly sure didn't always line up I mean at minimum they didn't on the one active topic), cause yeah to me that is a possible reason.

I think the ban is worthy unless they come in with an explanation or something. I sometimes save on Mobilezoid even after recently being online as Robazoid because I'm watching a video or something, but to have an alt to post in here so consistently is pretty suspicious.

Me and Paul are super close but I dont share my accounts with him or vice versa. I Facebook message him when a round goes up and his response time is usually really fast.

It amazes me how you think you have evidence and research into something thats false. This is ridiculous.

If you're also needing to remind him for each individual vote in a finals match, wouldn't that be rallying even if it is Great_Paul on the account? It sounds like he wouldn't be saving at all if not for you, how do you not come back and save on your own during the final round.

I will say this is a bad look though. By this argument people that save because they are told the new round is up in discord are being rallied.

Isn't rallying when you bring someone in who wouldn't participate otherwise? The discord people are all regulars merely being informed the round is up.

It would be like me having a friend on another board and saying 'hey go vote here'. They'd never see the round otherwise so that would be rallying. If Paul can't even be bothered to vote on his own a single time in a 48 hour final, it doesn't sound like he cares very much.

I'm pretty neutral and am pretty unconvinced by the initial post all things considered. Discord pings in general really hurt the random round time argument as having much weight for example.

And the two of them having save times that lined up in the final image he posted would be a bit more convincing if

1. They hadn't only made 6 votes each due to being timed out after having noticed "oh this is still going" late in the match
2. The final 5 votes weren't made pretty close to on time for both. For example if Stifled had been 20 minutes late on one and Paul as well that would be something. Two people hitting votes on the hours 5 hours straight isn't really that weird.

Given it's lefty though I suspect he has more in depth analysis than he's sharing.

AFAIK, no, rallying is saying "hey, go vote this person". Telling someone "Hey, go vote, a round is up" is not rallying.

Rallying is bringing someone in who doesnt vote. But Paul is a regular participant. Were both pretty casual on this one and just forget about it. So we remind each other to vote. As for that final lefty brought up, thats what we kept doing till we just didnt give a crap anymore. Honestly I dont even remember who we were voting for in that final. Im sure lefty does because he has all that evidence.

If he does, it was in poor form to post what is in essence just a big list of accusations without evidence and go to bed.

And rallying is getting people to vote in the contest basically just as an extra vote for yourself. People who have zero interest of their own in the game and wouldn't be playing unless you reminded them to play (for you). Alerting someone who has been a long time, active b8er on FB is not rallying.

I'd also like to point out the fact that Stifled has never had much of any sort of success in SMFFFC. You'd think someone getting assistance from a second account would be a little more well off. Great_Paul also failed to participate in the nominations topic, which lasted for an entire week. Interceptor is a well known Stifled interest, and if he was really using accounts that way why risk Interceptor only barely making the cut this year when he had the ability to get another nomination? It doesn't add up.

4. I dug deep into the archives and failed to find a single Great_Ball post not accompanied by a StifledSilence post. Every single Great_Ball post I was able to find was in some sort of contest, usually a Save My, and always paired with a Stifled post. The odds of this happening on a consistent basis over such a long time period are extremely low if there's no direct connection beyond what is allowed.

I almost exclusively use messenger with my phone so when he messages me I get notified there and make the save with my phone since Im already using it.

We did a similar thing with Save My Pokemon but that time I would use this account with some saves and that account with other saves. I figured it might be less confusing for others if I just stuck to using one, and I picked my mobile account for the reasons stated above.

I dont really browse gamefaqs on my phone much anymore at all. I used to more often, nowadays I mostly just use it to look things up, and save in smfffc.

And there are a lot of reasons to avoid posting much on your phone

- It's a bit more annoying to make longer posts on a phone in general because the typing speed is going to be a bit slower. Save posts are smaller which avoids this.
- There are way more disruptive ads on this site on mobile so it's good to avoid that. Also the mobile site sometimes hangs when I'm posting. Just a hard lock.

So I mean, that stuff combined with what GMUN said about saves being the only stuff on this board that's particularly time sensitive combined with mostly being informed over facebook messenger makes it very plausible that a phone account would mostly have saves on it.

Like if I had a mobile account it would be similar.

I made Mobilezoid mostly because I saw lots of other people with mobile accounts and assumed there was a reason, but the reason I assumed was that my phone would be connecting to a lot of shady free wifi networks and I didn't want my high-karma main potentially getting associated with a bunch of nefarious usermaps.

Losing my main account obviously wouldn't be the biggest thing in the world, but making a new one for mobile wasn't much of a hassle either.

This sounds plausible to me. I'm the same way - if I get on gamefaqs on my phone it's probably just checking for save contests. If I want to chat I usually save that for when I'm at a computer.

Can you post some screencaps of notifying each other?

re: mobile alts: The old wisdom was that you wanted to keep an "away from home" alt so that (1) if your main got axed, the alts would be off your usermap and therefore safe, and (2) conversely if you were like in a public computer lab, and someone else did something axeworthy, you wouldn't want your main on that usermap. I dunno if that really applies to cell phones, but that's where it comes from.
