Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. 109. Berkut (Echoes) Oh boy, Berkut. This won't be the last time I say this about an Echoes character: I liked him for, like, 90% of the game. But it's uh really hard to keep liking Berkut by the end of Echoes, and I'll just leave it at that. ~~Fuck off Berkut I liked Rinea~~ 108. Pelleas (10) Pelleas is the new king of Daein and he's completely, utterly, helplessly incompetent as ruler, so in addition to owning the libs, he also causes tons of death and suffering throughout Tellius. I think you're supposed to sympathize with him but I don't. Maybe on a replay; it's been a while. 107. Rudolf (Echoes) Either the smartest or dumbest FE character and given his big plan I'm not sure which. 106. Tharja (Awakening) She's gonna turn your dick into a frog and she's not even that cute. Also it's a simple gimmick that hasn't been run into the ground yet unlike say "klutz" or "haughty noble" which seem to appear in every game. - I think her supports with Nohr characters are more interesting than most of the game's supports due to her sorta racism. - Said racism in her supports is justified enough that I don't judge her for it, and her overcoming it is cool (perhaps you can consider it rushed if we're splitting hairs but you can only do so much with the support coversation structure-- keeping in mind they're buffered by fighting together in life & death situations I think it's okay) - In Birthright the cast is pretty bland across the board so she stands out more than she might among a different cast. - I have a weakness for infantry spear users in general. Corrin's actually not that terrible conceptually, but she's a poorly executed character: incredibly passive, morally incoherent, and all the blandness of an avatar without anything to make you feel like Corrin is actually representing your thoughts and actions. Congrats, Corrin: you're the Worst Main Character in the series! 99. Brom (9/10) Eh, Brom's fine. I never found much use for him. He's a good, humble, reliable but kinda bland guy, like a human potato. 98. Saizo (Fates) Saizo has one (1) good moment and it's his duel with Kotaro, otherwise he's about as generic as they come. So he just tries to bring out the best in all of the shy and stoic characters. He even tries to have Zihark marry one of his daughters One thing that I distinctly remember is that while it took AGES to get him there, he eventually got decent enough speed that he was attacking twice. It's part of the really excellent way FE7 developed its morphs - as an enemy group - over time, showing different variants that retained different aspects of their humanity. Considering how foes like the Risen, Faceless, and Terrors went largely unexplored, I genuinely appreciate it. 91. Samson (Shadow Dragon/New Mystery) Wrong choice! Arran is more interesting as a sickly former knight trying to die with honor, though IIRC neither one is that great as a unit (you only get one of the two in Shadow Dragon). Samson is cool in New Mystery though, where he serves as Princess Sheema of Gra's bodyguard. You can either validate his high opinion of Marth by working with Sheema, or dash his expectations by killing her, making him turn against you. Also, the dude actually looks like a hero of past renown, so he's got that going for him over Arran, who kinda looks like a YuGiOh villain. 90. Hes not even a good assassin, you can't make him cross a body of water and kill someone because they'll swarm him and kill him before he can run back Hes a liability.
