It's crazy how much pre-ordering a single expansion helps with a collection.

Obviously dusting rotating cards out for 10k dust helped a bunch, but thanks to the 130+ packs I opened of Witchwood, I had enough dust to craft essentially any deck I wanted, and didn't feel the need to further spend gold on packs.

I have 12k dust right now, after already spending 10k on cards (I had zero before dusting the rotating cards), and already have 3000 gold saved for the next expansion.

Yeah...

Just now I had an 8/6 volcanosaur on board. Guy has a 3-attack and a 4-attack minion on board. He needs to clear or face almost certain lethal next turn.

He trades in the 3-attack....plays a stormwind knight and trades it in....then trades in the 4-attack for the last 1 health.

>___>

That was at 2 wins, btw.

yep, at least on steam. even when it was in closed beta the devs were handing out keys like candy in their subreddit

i'll be honest, i don't play it all that much, and when i do i mostly just play against AI of varying difficulty

zero RNG, turn-based games are absolutely brutal. i bring up the game because i think it gives good perspective on the usefulness of randomness

Caverns of Time event helps alot too. I greatly underestimated the difference getting dust with every quest makes when working toward crafting a legendary.

Zero RNG is automatically better because you have to be good to win. There is no getting bailed out for making stupid plays.

So, to ask the obvious question - why aren't you playing this game already!

I believe this works in standard too, but since I started playing wild there's been a few cases where I face off against a druid and he ends up with a billion armor, no cards in his deck, then he plays togwaggle and naturalize to kill me with fatigue damage.

It 100% works in standard

The thing with Wild is that you can togwaggle and azalina in the same turn easier since you dont need the twig; you have Aviana + Kun

Tog Druid loses easily to Dirty Rat and Deathlord, which are in almost every control deck now. It's "fair." It's decent but the Malygos combo is more resilient to those hate cards so it's stronger right now. That's just Aviana + Kun + Ixilid + Maly + Faceless to make 4 Malygos and leave 7 mana left over for spells. Also runs Twig in case Aviana or Kun get pulled.

Exodia Mage is still around in Wild, it's not really good but it's doable. The cool thing is you don't need the quest. You just need a Thaurissan tick on 4 combo pieces (out of Tony, Apprentice, Molten Reflection)and you can do it in one turn.

There were some Priest combo decks like Dragon Inner Fire and Spawn of Shadows combo, but I think those have mostly fallen out of favor.

Oh and I lost to a Howlfiend + Treachery + Defile Warlock once, that was interesting

One of the decks I'm going to play around with is the Patron/Juggler/Defile combo, but if I remember right Defile doesn't go off that many times so it's not really an OTK type of deck.

I like the idea of Togwaggle Druid, but good lord my dust would disappear fast as I don't think I have any of the necessary legendaries for it. Same for the Malygos variant. No Togwaggle, Malygos, Aviana, Kun, Azalina, Twig, whatever else they run.

Well, I am the kind of person who ran Brewmaster in my old Reno decks so I could play it more than once. And unlike Druid, I seem to be predisposed to opening Shaman legendaries. I think I have all of them that are even remotely useful aka not Moorabi.

Exodia still works in standard as well, unless one of the recent nerfs/changes impacted something.

Yeah, I know Exodia still works in Standard, but in Wild the deck is better since you still have Ice Block, and Thaurissan is better than messing around with Leyline Manipulator or the quest.

There's also the Uther DK + Beardo OTK that uses Burgly Bully coins. Awful deck but a good meme combo.

I think VI is talking about a different deck than I am.

all you need to make it work is Togwaggle and Naturalize, and a ton of armor gain, removal tools, and card draw. those are far easier on the wallet.

stuff like Kun and Twig are not needed. you can play Togwaggle and 2xNaturalize on the same turn.

what you do is gain a bunch of armor and then empty your own deck while playing the control/midrange game. by using Ultimate Infestation to draw cards you can also deal 10 damage to the enemy face, but this is situational. at the end you play Togwaggle followed by double Naturalize in the same turn. this deals 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 (10 total) damage to your opponent immediately.

the only thing that would probably make it work even better is having something like thaurissan and two coldlight oracles. then you could ideally play some oracles for additional damage. An extra 5+6+7+8 means a peak damage of up to 36 damage just during the togwaggle turn... not including the extra damage you can manage to pile on during the game just by fighting for the board.

granted this probably fails against other druid decks which are gaining 150 life. and druids are pretty common. and even other togwaggle druids are going to be fairly common right now. so yeah it might not be the best time to attempt to play this deck... especially the weaker variant that I was talking about.

Eh I think its still necessary because you arent guaranteed lethal from togwaggle (its only 15, including your opponents next turn. This will help against some decks but is nowhere near enough against most armor gaining classes like Druid/Mage/Warrior and most Control decks like Priest or Warlock will be over that range). Like that combo is cool but theres a lot more burn out there in Wild, like freeze mage and oil rogue are decks that do way more with burn

Its smarter to just try to do an azalina on the same turn through cheating or just burn the ransom play so that way the fatigue damage is still present and your opponent cant just shrug it off

oh I don't disagree at all with what you're saying about the version with azalina being better. I even referred to the one you mentioned as the optimal version (edit: or rather I called the other one the 'weaker' version, but yeah)

I was just clarifying that when I first brought it up, I was talking about a more simple version.

It depends on the matchup. Most players know what your win condition is, so they won't ever stick themselves with 8 cards in hand, so that's never possible. And if you have to double Naturalize into Togwaggle, you're thinning the deck you receive off them pretty heftily. Again, it all depends on the circumstances.

Tavern mage is op.

The only reason why normal arena mage is not as strong is because arena drafting has gotten to a point where the high win decks almost always have lists that are good against mid level board clears.

It usually takes an opponent playing sub-optimally or drawing poorly for Control Mage to have a real chance.

I tech a single Abomination, which has helped, and it's something that isn't absolutely terrible in other matchups.

It depends on who gets what first, does the Mage get Lich King or does the Druid get a wispering woods and soul turn

In most cases its the latter just because of druids Ramp and card draw that being said its not Mages worst matchup (Shudderwock is worse) and its not Token Druids Best (it does better against Odd Paladin)
