Which is why we need more than two parties, and a different system for presidential elections AND congressional elections. Honestly at this point all each party has to do is run as "Not the other guys", and they win. Just look at how the Republicans did nothing but oppose Obama's agenda when he was President. For a lot of people it comes down to this: -Which party supports women's rights, gay rights, and the environment. or -Which party supports gun rights, traditional christian values, and lower taxes. Anything else they do is inconsequential to so many people.
