I finished 4-3. Funnily enough, other than my final game where I conceded on turn 5 after my opponent played Naga, all 4 of my wins came against Wild decks, and my loses were to standard only decks.

Can't believe it made it that far. 6 of my 12 opponents were Hunters, against which I went 5-1. Even beat a Giants Hunter in there, but lost one when I couldn't draw my removal for a Starving Hyena. KT behind a wall of taunts ended up winning 3 of my matches, which was fun. My three losses were against Aggro Hunter, a Secret Mage with the nut draw, and CubeLock.

My 8-win match was against a Big Spell Mage, which was an interesting breath of fresh air. I eventually had 6 1/1 Illusionists on board my hand was 6 Sonya'd Illusionists, Sneed's Shredder, and Kel'Thuzad, and he knew it, so he started BM'ing me every turn, though. To be fair, it was like having a board full of occasionally super buff DreadSteeds.

I won 12 games in a row to climb from like 1200ish all the way to 400

Immediately after I lose 3 games in a row to some BS stuff and drop like all the way to around 800.

If you want MAX DUST craft golden copies of all the hall of fame cards (Coldlight, Molten Giant, Ice Block) before the expansion hits (usually the night before). Because you'll get full dust AND keep the cards. After that you can Disenchant the golden copies for the normal dust. So that's 1800 free dust. I believe you only get it for the Golden OR normal copies not both.

If you're not interested in keeping the cards and are only looking to maximize dust, you should only craft golden if you don't own any version of the card, though. Crafting golden if you own two normal copies doesn't get you any extra dust.

Wild Big Priest mirror. My hand at turn 6 is double SW:H, double Eternal Servitude, an Excavated Evil, a Ragnaros, a Coin, and only one Spirit Lash because I had to play the other one on turn 5 or overdraw. Opponent Barnes'd on turn 4, but somehow had no resurrection effects in hand.

Flash-forward to turn 10. Opponent hard-casts Y'Sharraj, gets Rag. I Psychic Scream, Ressurect my own Rag. Opponent top-decks Y'Sharraj into Rag.

Flash-forward to final turn. Opponent's at 10, just Diamond Spellstone'd for Barnes, Rag, and Obsidian Statue. I have a rag in play. Only one thing to do: Ressurect Rag, double Eternal Servitude Rag, and pray for face x2... and we got there~

A hotfix for ranked was released. In the process, some players were given some stars for some unknown reason. I went from 5 stars at rank 5 to 3 stars at rank 3 without playing a game, which means I'm actually up a star from where I left off last month.

We also get 3 packs. Blizzard should neglect to test their game more often.

So errr when I logged into my account today it said I achieved the rank of 25 last month which is incorrect. Now granted I only bothered to get to rank 20 but still why is it telling me I got rank 25?

I also didn't get the 3 packs compensation

The ranked thing is a visual bug. You should have still gotten the appropriate rewards.

I was annoyed when they announced it and posted as such. I knew I wasn't going to rank up in preparation for it as I have no meta decks and I don't want to spend dust pre-rotation

They could have left stars where they were for lower ranks and just changed the reset part

It's impossible to please everyone. The vocal minority at the top of the rankings were the ones who disliked the old system the most, and so this change benefits them the most.

I feel closer to being in that camp as I love the changes, but as someone who spent about a year playing this game very casually as a f2p player with a ceiling of rank 18 every month, I can see how it can be annoying.

The reason it frustrates me is because usually I get to rank 5-10 but I dislike the current meta so have just been coasting the last few months. So now I'm getting punished by having to grind through this lower dross when previously I could hop back in and get to rank 10 in like 2 days

I like the changes. Or at least I do for now. I started the month at rank 10 instead of rank 19 or 20 like usual. Not needing the extra time to get back to 10, I might actually be able to push past my previous ceiling in March. Even if I don't play, I'll still be rank 14.

And for the players who are sub-20, they won't likely have to deal with as many of the assholes who bring full meta decks to the bottom of the ladder and plow through newbies. Someone who is rank 25 is either a true newbie or has been away from ladder for multiple months.

Well in theory it should benefit f2p as well. The other people it's supposed to help are the ones who play mainly casually, can't reliably make it to rank 15 every month for the rare, and get smashed by meta decks when they show up on ladder. This should give them a wider window to get matched with players around that skill level. The only people who really get screwed are lapsed players and the 10-15 bracket of players.

Also I'm not exactly sure how generous the resetting is, but I only bothered playing to Rank 12 and got reset to rank 15. If you get reset to the tier floors then it should be even easier to coast at higher ranks once people are caught up.

Most of the matches I've had this morning have been against meta decks. Think I've run into 2 new players but no weird decks, everything else has been meta decks. Granted poorly piloted meta decks (or maybe my ghetto deck is catching people off) but meta decks nonetheless!

It's -4 from your highest rank. You must have hit 11 and slid back.

They messed with the rankings because of the issues they had with ranked, though, so you might have dropped less than 4 ranks.

I went from 1 to 5 after the reset, then from 5 to 3 without playing a single game after the hotfix.

I just survived double defile, double hellfire, double twisting nether, and a Guldan into a Voidlord and 3 Voidwalkers as Dude Paladin.

I had to topdeck an Equality with Consecration in hand to beat out that last one and find exact lethal, but that was crazy. He had an answer every single turn.

I survived a Siphon Soul. I also got extremely lucky.

I just played against the same guy 4 times in a row at rank 1, going 2-2 in the process. It was a mirror match too. After the first game, I waited 30 seconds to queue because I didn't want to play him again, but he must have done the same because we ended up playing. Then I waited another 30 seconds, and I guess he did as well because we played again. After that I decided to insta-queue, so of course he did as well for both games 3 and 4.

Now I'm here to kill time in an attempt to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Lost an arena match I could have won off using Unstable Portal > Yogg. Totally worth it though

Going 0-3 with a Mage deck is a good sign it's time to stop arena for the day.

Aluneth + multiple scroll of wonders seemed good in theory but never worked out. Did lead to some funny sequences but I kept milling cards and ratifying myself. Seems to happen every time I take Aluneth in arena, probably gonna avoid in future. Don't think I've ever had a good Aluneth Mage run

I seen my first control Mage (twice) and control Warrior on ladder this month at rank 1. If only they weren't direct counters to my deck. Back to rank 2.

I fucking did it. Finally. It took a change to the ladder system, but I finally reached legend.

I know I was essentially gifted a great rank to start, but I'm still pretty proud of this achievement. It's something I've worked towards for awhile now, so it feels good to finally get there.

My last few games were the most intense games I've ever played. I first went up against a Paladin mirror, where we went back and forth and played nearly our entire decks, but he had the answer for everything and sent me back down to 4 stars.

I then played against a Warlock and thankfully got a great hand, which gave me the win and another chance. I queue up and see a Warrior, which ended up being the dead mans hand version.

I was already angry at the thought of potentially losing here. We both drew great, but he managed to clear my board every single time. We somehow nearly played until fatigue, with two cards in deck each. I had a full board, and he was at something like 15 health with armor. I knew he had a single Brawl left in his deck and it was the only thing that could beat me, so it came down to a 50/50 on that last draw and thankfully he didn't get it. I ended up having exact lethal next turn.

Paladin arena, my first three picks are Vinecleaver, Truesilver and Valanyr. Finally got a legendary after I don't know how many runs.

I think ranked is broken at legend right now. People have been posting screenshots on Reddit of them getting matched up with high legend ranks while they were at a low rank.

I've played 4 games so far at legend and in all 4 I was matched up against someone at rank 4 or lower.

I hit rank 2. Like I could probably hit legend tonight but I can't gain any more gold today and my will to play after i hit the gold cap is pretty low.

Interesting that you can motivate yourself to play until you hit 30 wins, but not after, specifically because of the lack of gold gain. I mean, I sometimes play until I finish my quests and then stop, but that's a much more significant change in achievement.

Ended up going 1-3 with my quest mage deck in the tavern brawl.

First game I lost because a Priest got ice block from drakonid operative.

Second game I beat a zoo warlock somehow.

Third game I lost to a face hunter

Fourth game I lost to murloc paladin.

Wasn't expecting to win much but I got 30 gold so whatever.

Was randomly struck with curiosity as to what's going on in this game these days. From what I gather, there's a format shift coming up pretty soon - as someone who hasn't touched the game since Old Gods, how reasonable would it be to jump back on when that happens? (I doubt they'll be giving out as many free cards as they did back then, and that's really what made it easy to get a foot in the door at the time.)

Unfortunately, blizzard has yet to match their generosity when old gods came out two years ago.

Getting into the game will be *more* reasonable. You wouldn't want to do it before rotation because that's 6 sets you're behind in. In a month it'll only be 3, plus the one coming out. But you still need cards ftp the classic set, too.

I have to imagine this is a priority for blizzard, so they will probably have plans in place for this, so my suggestion is listen for announcements of specials.

Of course, this all depends on how serious you want to be. I've played for free but without any real lapses by accumulating gold to buy packs -- Maybe 60 to 80 from each set. I feel comfortable with my resources, though I don't have the freedom to play every deck, but I'm not limited to one the way some folks play. But purchasing that much from 4 sets to catch up might be rather daunting.

They've had a few giveaways since Old Gods if you haven't gotten them yet. Would be ideal to grab them now before you can't. Plus if you don't have Karazhan you should get the first wing so the rest is available to you if you want it.

If you're looking to be f2p you're going to have a tough time.

They no longer do adventures, which means there are 3 full expansions every year and much more cards to collect. Including the next expansion, you'll be 4 sets behind which is a lot to collect.
