Yep, the Darkness. Really wish that was removed from the Evolve pool, or at least made so that you could evolve out of it. Deck isn't really any good, no reason to try and make it less fun as well. Give me the low rolls with the high, but don't take the fucking dice away from me.

Artifacts big hurdle is going to be how watchable the game is overall. Like from what I've seen and heard of how the game works it's going to be a fairly large hurdle.

Firebat is running Quest Rogue in a tournament he's in and he said it has the highest winrate of any deck there. His reasoning being that everyone is going to ban Warlock, so no one brought any deck that specifically has to counter Warlock (so basically Tempo/Secret Mage). Therefore, everyone there has some combination of Rogue/Paladin/Priest/Warlock. So then he just has to ban Paladin instead, and his Quest Rogue wins basically every matchup left, because Mage isn't there to counter it.

Ant actually brought Quest Rogue to HCT Toronto, and in an interview he said it ended up being a terrible choice because it was an open tournament and therefore anyone could enter, meaning that a bunch of people were just random players who brought all Aggro line-ups because they didn't have the collection for an optimal line-up. He ended up going 1-3 because of it.

A Control Warrior player won the tournament, though! I think there were a couple in the Top 8.

Of course they will monetize. What I'm interpreting from this though is that it will follow the lead of their other games like Dota 2 that make mad money from microtransactions that have no impact on gameplay

I think there will still be pack purchasing but I don't think it will be how we envision it from Hearthstone

How do you have microtransactions for a card game? I mean, Blizzard has card backs and alternate heroes. They can certainly do that. But those are basically one-shot "I have the thingy I want now" type purchases.

Since the aesthetics are based on Dota2 they could go really hard on cosmetics if they felt like it. I can't imagine they won't let you buy packs because that's just leaving money on the table, but the cost could be offset by other cash intake.

Man, I don't understand the Asia server. Played some more today, and now I'm sixteen games deep at rank 25 and literally zero new players, or at least players who have opened nothing but the few starter packs you get access to like me. Almost entirely meta decks and decks that were meta at some previous point in 2017. Have no collection at all on EU and my opponents are the same, but Asia is like nope, Lich Kings and Anduins and Tarims in every game right from the start.

The only part of the video I've watched so far is about the first three seconds, but if the video ends without someone staring into a corner I'm going to be disappointed almost as much as I was when I was a teenager and went and saw the movie.

Edit: Disappointed. Not only in the fact that it didn't end with someone staring into a corner, but that charge now has two entirely different keywords and untargetable/elusive still doesn't exist.

They showed a few cards in the video:

2 Legendaries, that upgrade or make your hero power cheaper for the rest of the game if your deck only has even or odd cost cards.

New Mechanics:

Echo - allows you to play the same card multiple times in a turn, if you have the mana

Rush - essentially Charge but you can only attack minions on the turn you summon it

They also teased what looks like a Death Knight at the end of the video? I'm not exactly sure but it doesn't look like a regular Legendary minion.

There were a few other cards as well but these are the main new mechanics.

Oh shit looks like there's going to be a new take on Dungeon Run as well, this time called Monster Hunt. Similar concept, except there are 4 unique heroes to choose from.

You also get 70 packs for the price of 50 if you pre-order. Has that always been the case? It seems to be more than usual.

Also rush is nice and all but its hardly a very interesting mechanic. Like it already exists without the keyword but still a welcome mechanic thats overdue to be used in larger quantities

Echo though looks awesome and can really affect play and deck building imo if the cards are good enough.

I dont know. Like fringe things like what ghost did with his quest Druid is pretty amazing but for every time that happens I think something like random evolve or amber or the like happens 50 times and thats pretty gross

Rush doesn't sound all that great to me. It's just more charged devilsaur. The key difference is that if a rush minion gets cheated out, it can't go face. Wouldn't be surprised if they retroactively label CD with Rush, like they gave Burnbristle lifesteal.

Echo is basically using Valeera the Hollow's power, but only for specific cards. I'm not sure if that's going to be really good or not. Obviously it will only apply to cards 5 or less, and it will give those cards a lot of flexibility because they can be used as written in the early game while not being a dead draw late. I'm going to predict that we see a cheap spell with echo that gets exploited to fuck, though. Even a 2 mana minion with echo can lead to 5 minion summons, for 5 knife juggles, 5 attack boosts to certain cards, and 5 5/5s in quest rogue from one card. I see a lot of exploitability here, without even seeing any cards other than the Saronite Chain Gang lookalike.

I dunno how I feel about the only odd or only even cards in deck thing. It's neat in a way, and unlike Keleseth, it's constant. However, having Justicar Trueheart on 0 could lead to some *really* broken decks. Color me nervous.
