As for made in Abyss rewatching the clips where Nanachi and Mitty take the elevator ride, and the death of Mitty are sad as hell. Music on point.

JoJos BA is really interesting, I've never seen any other manga quite like it. It feels almost like reading a western novel.

I had started that one, but the person that did the subs did an awful job, so I couldn't stomache watching it. They had translated some bgm lyrics and tossed them in the mix with the dialogue and I just didn't want to put up with that. I hate it when that kind of stuff is done. Why cram both on the bottom of the screen and not use the top? Iirc, this was even worse, cause the dialogue and song parts kept swapping between top or bottom position, making it even more annoying.

Achieved the normal ending for Superdimension Neptune VS. Sega Hard Girls. Roughly thirty hours of play time to get there. To get the true ending, I am going to have to grind, since there is a difficulty spike to the fights that get added to the mission list after beating the game the first time. *shrugs* I can do that, so long as I manage my missions (e.g. the missions for removing level caps, adding third classes, etc.) in order to keep the counter from running down.

Ugh, I thought this chuunin exam filler might be interesting, but it's been dumb since the outset. On the bright side, I under 100 episodes left to finish up Shipuuden.

I had really wanted a short second chuunin exam arc post time skip, but that never happened. Would've been great to see Naruto running around stomping genin.

I basically skipped all the filler, but I've been going back and checking out some that sound interesting. I'm going to watch the Kakashi one that you watched not that long ago, and you're coming up to Itachi's in like 38 episodes. Itachi's was really good. Or at least, I really liked it since Itachi is one of my favorite characters.

Yeah, Kushina is a nice character, shame there isn't more of her. Next 13 eps for me is a mix of canon and filler, with more of it being canon, then I hit the biggest block of filler in shipuuden. After that, it should be mostly canon though at least. At 500 eps, shipuuden will likely stay as the longest show completed on my list until One Piece ends in a decade.

I'm still slowly playing through lesbian ghosts. This shit is LONG, which I don't mind, just didn't quite expect. Finally starting to get to the parts where some girls actually start doing shit together. In fact, everything is going far too well, which means things are gonna fuck up cause theres still a bunch of months left. I'm assuming the game lets me choose between hina, ano, and maybe nena at some point and I'm hoping I can pick ano (not that the others are bad or anything). Also holding out some hope that I was wrong about my prediction for the ending.

Think I'm gonna watch some light hearted comedy after I finish this and try to refocus since I've gotten a bit off track lately (mostly cause of playing through the final dark souls 3 DLC). Just felt kind of out of it for a few days. Maybe a little extra depressed or something.

Youka is too adorable (and not just because her name is the first 5 letters of my username here). She definitely feels like the most anime character in the series. Not sure if that's really a compliment though.

Nobody else posting making me triple post. Oh well. Just realized the school in lesbian ghosts "shirojo" could be broken into shiro (white) and jo (girl). Their school is literally called white girl. I'm so far pleasantly surprised by how everything is going. I'm half way through the festival character stories. Not super pleased about the huge cliff hanger they left the main part of the story on for this arc especially cause I'm trying my hardest to get on the ano route, if this game even has routes, but I dunno if I can turn down something too direct from hina since she is great too. Ano still best girl between them. Cat > dog.

This season's Houseki no Kuni, or Land of the Lustrous, is really neat. It's a CGI show, and the more I watch it, the more I enjoy it's aesthetic. Not only is the CG well done on it's own, but it doesn't feel like it's trying to imitate traditional animation and shines the strength of CG without it feeling jarring. I think its sci-fi/fantasy setting really helps sell its aesthetic. It also goes without saying, the plot is pretty interesting.

Agreed. One of the most gratifying moments in anime. It's kind of like in a video game when you go back to the starting area and one shot everything that used to give you so much trouble.

As much as I'm really loving the hell out of lesbian ghosts (yurei yuri :p) it's kind of off putting just how "pure" all these girls are. Like, most of them literally don't know how to sex. At 17-18. Like I totally understand not having any experience and being awkward when doing it, but to actually just not know physically how? I find myself kind of missing scum's wish honest take on teenagers in highschool (ecchan best girl).

In an all girls high school? I'm not buyin it. These girls have laptops and internet access at home. The human body at that age is flooding you with hormones and they all seem like they have never been aroused by anything ever and especially never gotten off alone to the point where they just don't understand how it could work.

I'd almost be ready to believe it's just cultural differences if stuff like scum's wish didn't exist, but stuff like that does exist and gives a far more realistic portrayal. It's just kind of off putting when a lot of the other thoughts and emotions seem to be handled realistically. Plenty of these girls even have a ton of time to look shit up between realizing they want to do something and actually attempting to do it.

Maybe it's different for full-on lesbianism, but I've heard that adolescent Japanese girls being slightly more-than-friendly with each other is actually pretty common, and is typically treated by adults as something they'll simply grow out of. The way it's viewed, they're exploring the new realm of romance and sexuality with those they're already closest to.

There's a few summer shows that I haven't seen yet that I'm still interested in. I just started one of them, Tsurezure Children. 12 minute short episodes, and it's essentially distilled anime romantic comedy; How to do self-evident cliches right. It's a fun comedy.

Finally finished kindred spirits on the roof (well the main story anyway). Was a good ending. I feel like all the relationships resolved in satisfying ways throughout. Tomorrow will be time to hunt down all the apple scenes I suppose. Probably should look up a guide and liberally use the skip previously read text feature since I feel like nearly every word of the story is still in my memory.

So I finished Made in abyss, I was very glad to see that episode 13 was a 48min special and upon finishing it am sure that this is going to be on my top anime list for the year. The pacing was excellent, the animation+music+VA work were perfect, the feels from epi 10+13 were real, the mystery of the abyss still continues despite learning a lot about it and the secret of Nanachi's form.
I absolutely NEED a season 2 of this, I know I say that about a lot of shows but this one is right up there, I give it a 9/10, absolutely fantastic stuff but I need more dammit

Okay, got some much needed sleep and processed my thoughts on kindred spirits on the roof a little more. It is definitely an excellent piece of yuri media and on the more shoujo classy side than some stuff. And aside from nearly every girl inexplicably having no fucking clue what to do sexually, the VN was still surprisingly mature about the sexual side of things, not skipping out on too many details (although I'm pretty sure they managed to never use the word vagina and only refer to that indirectly, kind of annoying in a few instances where it came off as a little weird but mostly just fine).

While it didn't quite capture the intensity of the experience as well as scum's wish, it handled it pretty well for largely just having words especially talking about the heat.

All the characters are pretty likeable, even ones you might start off hating. This VN has a way of dragging you through shit to the point I was getting kind of pissed off but then showing you a scene so heartwarming or real that you can't help but forgive the VN for the slog to get there. Of course, I do think a few things could have been handled a bit better. This VN is very slow to make it's point but when it does, it handles everything with utmost care and a level of completeness that left me quite satisfied. It really felt like each plot thread had been wrapped up in a satisfying way.

What surprised me the most though is how much it resonated with me in the end. While I enjoyed the ride to get there, I think I enjoy it more now, the day after finishing it, than I did at the time. It's message is largely about understanding your feelings and having the courage to convey them. Some of the girls confessing are even fine with a rejection because more than anything they just wanted the person they care about to understand them, even if they don't accept them.

It's not a new concept, but I've never seen it handled like this. It's fair to say that before this VN I didn't really "get it". With how much time lesbian ghosts takes and with how thorough it is, it'd be hard to not get it after all that and I feel like this is one of those wonderful rare times that seem fewer and fewer when I can actually change a little piece of how I view the world from getting a new perspective.

It's that feeling that really made me love anime when i was getting into it. Not only was anime cool as hell, but it had all these different views and perspectives from the complex to the simple and it felt amazing to gain all these new ways to think about things. Of course, theres far fewer perspectives expressed in anime than their are anime. As you keep watching more and more you get that feeling less and less. You don't get to experience that personal growth as often. You feel like maybe theres nothing left to surprise you anymore, like maybe you have it all figured out, at least as far as anime can take you.

Kindred spirits has quite a few perspectives within it but it's the main focus that felt like it taught me something new. I'm very glad I stuck with it since it was legitimately kind of boring in the first bits. If you can handle a slow paced, sweet romance, and especially if you like yuri, I whole heartedly recommend kindred spirits. I still gotta get all bajillion apples scenes and then the scene after that though.

Started watching aho girl cause I wanted something short, funny, and lighthearted. So far it's fulfilling it's role perfectly. It's actually really funny. On the other hand, I'm also really drunk so maybe my opinions aren't super...reliable, at the moment.

I have one platinum and that's from Disgaea 5. I only got that one, cause I was 3 away from it when I decided to stop and they weren't too difficult to get.

I'm through 3 chapters of book 10 in Malazan so far only. No real reason, just been distracted. I'm about to find out the extent of the damage to the Bonehunters, or at least it should be soon. Poor fucking Hetan in book 9 though. :( I'm glad Tool's urchins are safe though. Well, at least for now. I'm not sure why I stalled out so hard on the last two books of the series. I have liked the series. Maybe too many distractions.

This is one of the few series I've been wanting to read, along with Akame ga Kill.
