About the new anime season and excluding most sequel/leftover seasons,

Juuni Taisen - "generic" battle royale, but it's dope because Nisio Isin. I love it. It goes to show that a good writer can make quality goods out of anything. A minor detail, if you want to gloss over Themed around the chinese zodiac. For the rabbit character, you'd think the character design would typically be a charming pretty cosplay girl, but instead, it's a hypermasculine dude with bulging muscles covering every inch of his body, wearing a skimpy stripper's bunny cosplay. I found it hilarious, and I think it's poking fun at the fate series for consistently subverting the gender of characters

As much as I love the fate series, Aprocypha feels like questionable fanfic. I've been keeping up with it, but I'm left with no expectations that it has anything in store to amaze me. I kinda had a hunch that it wasn't going to be that good, but the fate hype train is too strong. Speaking of lessons never learned, there's going to be another fate series in the winter season, but Shaft, my favorite studio, will be doing it.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou, or Girls' last tour - It's a comfy SoL in a postapocalyptic setting. Usually, the tone is contrary to the setting and matches typical comfy SoL without being saccharine, and occasionally the tone reflects the setting in an intentionally jarring way. Its neat.

Houseki no Kuni, or Land of the Lustrous - A tiny society of sentient, immortal gems, under threat of a different society/species that wants to capture them? Some sci-fi stuff, but I think storywise, it's going for a coming of age story. A cast of a bunch of girls and an elder/leader guy, though they're technically genderless. Entirely CGI, some fitting, some feels abnormal. I'm interested.

Also finished Zaregoto/Kubikiri cycle today. I enjoyed it and would recommend. Great ending. It's basically Nisio Isin being Nisio Isin, and Shaft being Shaft. Shinbo had a field day in the last episode during the endless dialogue. It's very much Monogatari flavored. The source material was made before Monogatari, so it was more like primal Monogatari without ecchi and comedy.

Gonna enjoy this chunk of canon Shipuuden while it lasts. Starting with ep 394, until 468, there's only 11 eps of canon, with bits of canon mixed into some filler eps here and there. Though, hopefully I can get some drive to finish once I get it to under 100 eps to go.

That was probably me. I saw yesterday that it's on episode 2 so I actually have an anime this season that I must watch! I hope it goes on for a long time and I hope even more that it spawns interest in the original Negima series and they make an actual anime series about that. Since the current Negima anime is...well nowhere near how awesome the manga is.

So I started reading a manga called Slow Motion wo Mou Ichido.

It's basically, japanese 80's nostalgia - the manga.

The story centers around a popular guy in high school who has a secret love for old 80's songs and idols, and a girl who he discovers shares the same hobby.

It's a pretty comfy and sweet romance so far, though I'm still on chapter 14, and it's tagged as drama so I'm expecting something major to happen soon.

The main thing I want to note is that, it sorta introduced me to a lot of old japanese songs.

Ozen is pretty rough, damn! And I don't think she was lying about Riko being stillborn and being brought back to life by the relic. Which is pretty fucked. Also she is old, damn. Its revealed she mentors Lyza! What. Also they don't show complete shots of Lyza but her hair is godlike.

Nothing in the new season has caught my attention yet, but it is early. Holding out for Fate / Apocrypha on Netflix in November, though everything I hear -- and see, judging from the screencaps --
tells me not to expect a whole lot. The Fate / Extra (i.e. Shaft Fate) anime is going to be a highlight of my winter, though.

FE Heroes is doing the Gen 1 Jugdral banner on my birthday, which is cool and feels validating for me. The heroes in question are Tailtiu, Deirdre, and Sigurd. Hoping to pull at least one of them.

Looking at this season's line up I have to say that it looks pretty weak however! two shows that stand out from the rest of the rabble are season 2 of both March comes in like a lion and kekkai sensen of course I'm sure that some of you here are familiar with one or both of them but I feel like both are worth mentioning for those who don't know them since I think that both need more love tbqh

Weak? It has new kino no tabi and shokugeki no soma. I feel like this is the best looking line up in a while. Of course, things could always disappoint or surprise. Also for some reason march omes in like a lion refused to appear on my season line up until I searched for it manually. Now it appears with the rest. That was really strange.

Your lie in April has normie appeal, and I found none of the characters besides the main duo interesting.

March comes in like a Lion has tact, and though both have tone shifts, I find the one's in March a lot more meaningful, and the one's in April to be forced just to lighten the mood.

Your lie in April was good but- in my eyes- lost points for having an ending that was foreshadowed far before the actual end, you might say "well that's how it was meant to be shown" but it still didn't sit right with me, regardless I still liked it quite a bit.

I had no such problems with March comes in like a lion (it is of course quite different in structure) but I just genuinely enjoyed every aspect of it, the MC's growth and the multi-layered personality of his "sister" really worked well too (imo of course)

End of the day though both are good and that's all that matters

While I liked the fight, I feel like I'm the only one that didn't think too much of it. I liked main girls fight in the first round better and was kinda disappointed with the whole tournament arc. I'm not really sure why. I like show as a whole enough I think and I like tournament arcs in general. I think I'm just sort of uninvested in super power battles when it almost seems like rock paper scissors in terms of who wins. I just remember feeling a lot more excited a the end of season 1. I still need to finish mha though. I watched the tourny arc when it had just finished. Still have the next arc left.

I started Irregular at magic school. I'm surprised how good it is and how well it holds up in spite of the trend and decline of magic high school harems, given that people often reference this as the one that set off the trend.

I haven't actually seen many of these magic high school harems, but I most appreciate that this one is not lazy, and its effects are huge. It makes what are technically cliches feel natural/original. It does everything with just the right amount or tact, that the tropes don't feel foreseeable or forced. There's just a right amount of technobabble so that it's interesting, has some semblance of being sensible, and doesn't feel like exposition.

The other big factor is that the pacing is tight so far. Things happen, characters are characterized well, and episodes lead right into each other.

Yea, it's no wonder why there were so many clones of this kind of show. Too bad they only copied premise and not traits that make a good show.

Ozen mvp even though she is scary looking. To think she called herself the nicest of the bunch. They make the white whistles seem like bad people even though they are seen as heroes on the surface? idk

They make you feel like Lyza is so fucking cool.

When Ozen and Lyza are talking in the flashback about Riko and why Lyza is separating herself from her to not take away her choice to go on adventures. And then Ozen is like "You're glossing over something here. Isn't it just because you got an urge to see the bottom?" I got chills. The thought of spelunking down there freaks me out.

Finished Nobunaga Concerto. Wasn't really in the mood for anything historical, but it grew on me a bit. It was alright, but too short, would've liked to see it go to the end.

Next up is Denpa Teki na Kanojo.
