Probably the best week of business ever for Slidefire.

They're selling for up to $1500 on secondhand sites. I just listed mine that I won for $25 in a silent auction a few weeks ago for sale for $1250. Feelsgoodman.jpg

probably mostly enthusiasts, wanting them just cause they can, its "cool". I mean in a way its like people who want fast cars despite legally speaking can't make use of all that speed.

Yep, I know when I have an intruder in my home the thing I need is a fully automatic rifle. I mean if I can't fire 90 rounds in a matter of seconds that intruder is going to get away unharmed!

They are also ideal for hunting, I mean what makes a nice buck taste better than 90 rounds of ammunition pumped into it.

the only legal use I could see for them is target shooting. I mean in the off chance the government turns on their own people it would be nice (but not enough to do much good), but I also do assume a good deal of the military would turn on the government in that situation as well.

oh my bad, thought you meant why people bought them. as to your actual question. I have no clue, I didn't even know they existed until recent history. only rifle I got is a bolt action with a wood stock. so such things haven't been in my interest.

They're pretty much useless. The technique you have to use to get them to work properly generally results in extremely subpar accuracy. The only reason the Vegas dude got so many hits with it is because he was just firing into a huge mass of people.

yeah, my point being only legal use I see for them is "fun" shooting at targets. not arguing they should be around on that basis alone though.

local news where I live, it was basically a case of both, they said they sold out, all but a few for left handed ones, but didn't have plans to restock once fully sold out.

loop holes. bump stock doesn't "technically" make it a auto, trigger still "technically" has to be pulled each time, but it makes it so the recoil of the gun does all the work for you.

Yeah well you can easily buy the devices that turn semi-automatic into fully automatic. That part is available legally and it allows the easy conversion of those that want to do it.

yeah probably another loophole. likely the way the law is written it only outright bans guns designed from the start to be fully auto. i'd have to see the law to be sure though, but then again I don't speak legalease (spelling if there is one?) fluently

Well here is the kicker fully automatic wouldn't mean much if it was't for high capacity ammo clips. I mean what is the point of firing 90 rounds in seconds if the most your rifle can hold is say 24.

So I think them targeting large ammunition capacity stocks is the best course of action.

I'd like to see these legal devices, since it's illegal as shit to turn a post ban semi into a select fire.

Which is literally what happens when you try to heavily restrict or outlaw something that people want. I'm just surprised that these weren't subject to restrictions earlier.

Which would be stupid because, if you set the limit at 24 and people actually respected that (which they won't, but let's go with that for now), shooters would simply rely on multiple weapons. Granted, it beats some idiots circulating a "bullet control" meme right now.

depends where you are going I suppose. on both accounts. some areas are high crime and a lot of people have guns. some areas have high crime and only (mostly) the criminals have the guns. some areas have a lot of guns but almost no crime. and i'm sure there are areas that have very little of both. America is a big place.

in my personal experience though rural/country areas are about as safe a place as its going to get even despite high gun ownership in some of those areas. i'm sure some bad rural areas exist, I just ain't been to one yet.

Not even. Full auto is actually pretty garbage, it's basically just a way to waste vast amounts of ammo. Original M4s were made burst because soldiers in 'nam were burning through ammo like kerosene.

Monopoman posted...

700 rounds/min (more than 10 a second) is pretty standard and magazines are typically 20 or 30 dependant on ammo size.

LMGs, guns actually designed to hold large amounts of ammo and fire continuously on full auto, typically fire sub 600 rounds/minute to keep shots remotely on point and avoid the reinforced barrel from melting. These aren't even used for taking out the enemy, they're heavy and impractical, their purpose is to suppress enemies to limit their ability to return fire or leave their position.

Automatic fire isn't for lethality. When a kill is needed you only need a couple well placed shots and semi automatic gives you everything you need to reliably place those.

Calling them clips makes me think you're trolling with easy bait. But if you're going to advocate against gun shit, you better at least get your terms right.
