Turns out that I still had a fight left to do in the FFIV renewal dungeons that I didn't do the first time around, which was the Rubicante Ultimate.

2 OSBs made quick work of him. Hail Powercreep!

Also did an 11-pull on the FFXV banner for more RS, went 4/11.

Has the US got this banner yet? Alternatively, have we gotten Dark Knight Cecil OSB and Legend Materia yet? I'm still weighing whether to get DKC Burst, Rikku Burst, or Faris Burst and this would make the decision easier I think.

I don't think we ever got that event, that was 7 months ago (around when Apocalypse was added to events) and D.Cecil doesn't have an OSB according to the official website. I checked the banners for the Ursula event and the OSB isn't there either. If it's not on the Adult Parom/Palom banner or the Barbariccia event (assuming they're separate events) it may be Japan exclusive since OSBs are rarely showing up in modern events now.

So basically I think Dark Cecil and Rikku are going to be pretty equivalent with that in mind. If we ever get a banner "for" him at any point, his Burst will be on it as a consolation prize, much like Rikku's. If he doesn't ever get a banner I probably wanna bail on him anyway. I use Rikku more and think her Burst is overall better, so she seems like the better consolation prize to get.

So I guess the question is how often is Faris's burst useful. It's been said it's obsolete but it looks reasonably good to me. Like yeah it has overlap with full break and breakdowns, but it lets you free up ability slots.

You have her USB 2, are you ever really going to use her burst over that through? Especially when Dash and Slash is going to be buffed to 4-hits soon?

I guess go with Rikku since Water imperil is rare at least.

Question is if I get another Faris Soul Break will it fall into unuse, since juggling more than 2 break soul breaks seems rough.

It's probably better to use Mako Might/Ace Striker instead because Wrath overwrites attack buffs like Shout/VoF ect unless you don't plan on using her for damage at all. With her USB and D&S spam she'll build up meter quickly to use her USB again (remember hitting an enemy with a weakness increases soul break meter gained, that counts imperils as well) so you can damage and support and keep laying imperils.

Hm. So Dash & Slash + weakness = probably enough to keep USB up, but not so much to keep two soul breaks up, is that what I'm getting here?

Wrath shouldn't overwrite VoF though. Shout yeah but I don't really use the mono-typed attack buffs anymore with Hyper Null All being a thing so I don't see that mattering much.

Using Dash & Slashes over Wraths could still be a pretty huge damage buff in and of itself though, even ignoring buffs.

Imperil stacking is so good through, especially in Magicite. Trying to juggle breaks (that aren't even unique IDs from the abilities) seems like a waste when you can just keep stacking more imperils.

You're probably are going to use Ramza's BSB2 as a RW in the near future which is Shout + Holy Infusion and the command two is basically wrath that charges more meter and doesn't overwrite the attack buff.

My faris has usb2, bsb, and slb, and she's my go-to support. There are better debuffing options out there, but if you're looking for an all in one package she holds up pretty well. Also keep in mind she doesn't really have any buffing options either.

The Ultima Blade is Demi god mode, and certainly good, but it's not a game changer alone. Having it with his USB howver is the "insta win" button.

Ultra Cross Slash, the relic is Force Stealer.

Cloud USB deals ~7.5x wind/dark damage, sets Cloud's critical rate to 100%, and grants Cloud a flat +30% physical damage and the ability to break the damage cap with physicals. Criticals are 150% damage, so that basically works out to "Cloud deals double damage for 15 seconds". This is a potentially gamebreaking RW, especially for Full Throttles and Torments; identify your hardest-hitting physical character, use Cloud USB, and then throw out three uses of your most potent Soul Break.

And if you're going to throw SBs out in quick succession, you want an En-Element effect to boost the damage. That's where Cloud BSB2 comes in - it's an En-Wind BSB, and a good one in its own right (~6.6x wind/non damage, command one is a weaker Omega Drive, command two grants Dark Bargain effect.) Not a game breaker, as the USB is, but respectable.

With the USB alone, Cloud can exploit a lot of elements (if you dive him to 5* Spellblade) but isn't generally the greatest; you're typically better of having someone else RW his USB. With the BSB2 alone... well, it's not a game changer, but it is good. With both, you can bring Cloud USB + En-Element cheese to any fight that doesn't at least resist Wind.

If you ever wondered why Magicite battles don't allow a RW: Cloud USB is why. If you ever wondered why Golem, the Earth Magicite, is rabidly anti-physical: Cloud USB/BSB2 combo is why.

And Cloud USB is going to get even more ridiculous once Marche's USB comes out! With that some people's DPS with it are so high they don't even need healers for Ultimates/Magicite, they just bring Shelke to entrust and kill bosses before they can do their stronger attacks.

To add on to all that.

Cloud before his USB came out (even in having Mako Might off him, which is obviously the best RM) was low mid tier on all the character lists, fully stacked with all his BSB and abilities, he just didn't stack up.

After his USB he instantly went Omega Tier. And is pretty universally considered the best character in the game now, even if you have Ramza's and Marche's new god tier relics. Now, I haven't seen a new rating since Tyro got God Wall (haste, protect, shell, Wall) so it is possible that Tyro may have jumped to 1 or 1A after that. Won't know till we get another tier rating.

I think Onion Knight is actually considered the best in Japan right now due to versatility of his USBs. Cloud might be the best DPS but Krile got a stupid strong chase USB recently.

What could OK possibly have which would be superior to God Wall? Which saves up 3 slots and an RW if it's native.

So that is amazing, and it would seem to make make Migicite a lot easier for mages especially.

But I just don't see any situation that that is better than Tyro's God Wall unless you are a speed runner and decided defense doesn't matter to me anyway.

That uh... that really sucks.

One thing I've always lived about RPGs and FF in particular is white magic and healing with no major penalty...It really doesn't work in any other genre, imagine playing a playformer or FPS and just being able to magic your pain away constantly. But it works in RPGs and it's always been one of my favorite parts of them. If the meta robs me of that joy, that's really gonna blow

You can still do that, that meta is mostly for sub 30ing magicite (especially the ones with 900k HP) The actual game itself hasn't gotten hard enough that you NEED those things to beat events besides maybe Ozma.

I still have to make my 2nd Gem Relic pick.

So uh, is Ashe's BSB still considered to be good?

I'm only considering it because I have her OSB and think it would go good with it.

Others I'm considering are:

Onion Knight - My go to support guy in FFIII realms, but not as needed right now because I constantly RW Rikku's USB, but I guess the situation could come up where it could be good to have

Rydia - To finally have a relic for her because she's my favorite FF female (despite letting her die off in SMFFFC much to TRE's dismay). I also think it wouldn't be too bad to have for an Earth team.

Fujin - Since I didn't pick hers for either of my Crystal Tower picks, but the option is still there. It would be more for a Wind team since I'm more likely use Rinoa in an FFVIII realm.

Tidus - Same reason why I would consider Ashe, but I have his OSB and CSB, so a water boost would be nice to have.

Ashe's BSB is still okay, it's overshadowed by Rapha, Desch, Shantoto ect through as a lightning mage, but it's still just decent if you don't have any other lightning mages.

Fujin is probably the best choice there for the mage breakdowns.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with Faris if I get some good Minwu relics on my first few draws, assuming I'll get Rikku by dumping a ton in that upcoming Tidus banner.
