I would pay vast sums of money for him to turn into Penance like halfway through season 2 or something.

Oh Jesus Christ noooooooo!

I doubt that unless they want to really open a can of worms where Civil War was concerned since the version in the comics did start in my hometown (where Speedball was from in the comics was "Springdale, CT" which is actually a section of Stamford yada yada Riverbank school, Timeless Journey, yada yada) although I could see the Penance thing being played for laughs if Robbie gets mopey or him digging out a Penance costume for a Halloween episode or something...

Yeah I really doubt they're going to play a cutter angle for laughs in a sitcom...maybe as a parody of a very special episode, but that would be more of a Robot Chicken flavored gag if anything.

Odd note: I think my new neighbors are drug dealers

Evidence: They have 2 brand new nice cars.
They don't seem to have jobs.
Strange cars come to their house all hours of the day and night.
Strange loud noises are coming from their house all day and night.
They keep moving things in and out of the house all the time.

Scarlett is convinced and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but as time passes I find myself more and more convinced ad well.

What do you fellow Geeks think?

I say that because Maywaether is a tax dodging, woman beating, pile of excrement, and McGregor is a racist, homophobic, pile of excrement.

It's a boxing match. If this was a MMA match Maywaether would not have a chance in hell. I feel the same way with this being a boxing watch, in that Mcgre9doesnt have a chance.

Each one of these buffons is going to pocket 100 million dollars a piece. Now maybe Floyd can pay his back taxes, and McGregor can just go away.

I feel like with the race card being played so much that this is just a real life version of "The Great White Hype."

"Irish" Terry Conklin vs James "The Grim Reaper" Roper.
I actually like that movie a lot.

yeah, i had a *very* hard time picturing Mayweather agreeing to an octagon match because as soon as he tried that side-hopping bobbing and weaving shit he'd get a knee kicked in, and from there once it went to the ground it was going to be a shitshow for him.

on the flipside of that, if McGregor is going to have to straight box with a boxer, he picked the right one since Mayweather spends more time dodging than punching and its not like Connor is a stranger to getting hit in the face at the very least. i doubt McG would step into the ring with say, Mike Tyson in his prime and fight him on Tyson's terms. its an easy payday for both of them no matter what the outcome, and barring some insane and unforeseeable total failure on Mayweather's part, its not like McGregor can't shrug his shoulders after the fight and say "well shit, you took away 3/4 of my weapons going into the match, the hell did you expect? Let Mayweather step into the octagon with his ankles tied together and one arm tied behind his back next time..."

I was explaining to the boss, my wife, about how I didn't love Toy Story 3. (She just read an article about Toy Story 4 happening at the D23 conference.)

I told her that not for a second in Toy Story 3 did I think that the toys would get melted. Because hell, it's s Disney movie, and a huge franchise for them. Therefore, I wasn't invested in the movie at all.

However, with the first 2 movies I cared because I could relate to the toys. Because toys are often forgotten, abused, sold, or given away are all real scenarios that has happened in my life, and I can relate, from my perspective, and the toys perspective.

Same for the second movie. Because I collect toys and action figures. Never playing with the toys or taking them out of their package so they won't lose value. I can relate to that scenario too. (Plus that Sarah Mclachlan song broke my heart.)

I'm probably in the minority, but that's how I feel.

I'm probably in the minority, but that's how I feel.

I've never liked any of the Toy Story movies.

Hell, for that matter, I've never really liked any Pixar movie period, except possibly The Incredibles. And that mostly only got a pass because the subject matter managed to latch onto my pre-existing biases.

I was already in college by the time their first movies came out, so I never had the sort of resonance with them I might have had if I'd watched them as a kid. And since I don't have kids of my own, so I've never really had any sort of connection you might get as a parent watching with your own children.

So all that was really left for me was to watch it as an adult on my own, and honestly, there's way too much in most of the movies that just sort of grates me the wrong way (especially since I rarely like "sentimentality for sentimentality's sake"-style movies - it feels too manipulative.

I'm apathetic about most of their movies, but a few of them actively irritate me in any number of ways.

I liked the first "Toy Story" alright, not as anything super special but as a basically fine film, but barely anything beyond that.

What irritates me most is over exposure. A prime example of this is the Minions, who honestly need to be shot into the Sun along with their creator. The first "Despicable Me" film was again a fine movie, but was overplayed, by its own right. The minions dragged it down even before they flooded oh so many things.

My favorite of those CG family pictures is "The Incredibles," but I was only ever able to enjoy it by ignoring how much or how little society cared for it. I had to actively avoid as much mention of it as I could, because somehow popularity just ruins these things for me.

Personal update:

I've been doing well being back at home after they cut off my right foot. It is quite the adjustment going from being able to stand and limp around to being wheelchair bound 100% of the day.

I was worried about showering (As my place doesn't have a walk in shower, just a tub shower combination) and using the restroom, but I have new specialised equipment and a sliding board to transfer to the various places I need to go.

I do foot and leg exercises to keep my strength up, and I have a leg brace to keep my right need straight. I get painful muscle contractions and my knee bends, but I need to keep it straight for when I get my robot leg. I also have a stump shrinker which makes my stump smaller so I can get better fitted for my replacement leg.

Overall, it's been nice to be back at home after leaving rehab. There have been a few accidents, including me getting ejected from my wheelchair on the ramp outside my house, and one bathroom accident, but overall it hasn't been as impossible as I thought it was before and directly after having the surgery.

After my mother's surgery, we had a specialist home tech install metal support bars in our bathroom (they anchor them straight into the wall studs with braces to make sure that it will support full human weight) that she can use to get in and out of her tub. She basically has one vertical bar on the outside she can hold on to to get in and out, and then another horizontal bar across the back wall she can hold while in the tub/shower.

She also has a shower chair she can sit on while she's in the tub, and I installed a shower-head with a detachable nozzle she can pull off and basically angle at herself while sitting down, so she doesn't have to stand while showering.

Assuming you don't need anything too complex (or if you do you already have it, especially based on what you've already mentioned), but if not those might be things to consider looking into for yourself.

In her case we also installed a third metal support bar on the wall next to her toilet she could use to push herself up if she was having trouble standing without aid, and a booster seat sort of deal that raised her up so she didn't have to sit down as far to reach the toilet. She doesn't actually need most of this stuff now, but it was pretty much a necessity right after her surgery (and it's good to have in case she needs it again in the future).

Jodie Whittaker is the new Doctor! I don't watch Broadchiech, the wife does, but I hope she has the chops. Could be a bit of stunt casting, but after the Moffat ers nonsense a Change of pace and gender might be what we all need.

This choice of casting seems like such a blatant Moffatism (and he's clearly been prepping for it for a while), I'm pretty convinced at this point that the next few years are just going to be more of the same, only more so. It definitely feels like a case of "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

We'll see, I suppose, and I could be wrong, but I have zero faith at this point.

Moffat's been laying the groundwork for 20 years to get a woman into the role. He did it himself in what was literally the first "official" Doctor Who script he wrote, he threw references to the idea into scripts the moment he became showrunner, and that was the entire point of having "Missy" as a character.

The way I see it, pulling the trigger on it now either implies that it was Moffat's idea or was given to him as a sort of reward for services rendered, and it was kind of forced on Chibnall (in which case he'll probably be a bit hamstrung in what he can do in his future role), or it was Chibnall's idea to be entirely on the same page as Moffat (which implies he's going to be guilty of a lot of the same problems Moffat is guilty of). Either way, it - combined with Chibnall's previous work on Torchwood - doesn't really leave me all that sanguine about the show changing for the better.

Or C) It was his idea, coincidentally, to accept a female Doctor, and his plans have shit to do with Moffat.

That's not to say they will be the best ideas ever--even I find that to be unlikely to the nth degree with a sundae on the side--but I am willing to give Chibby a chance to prove he knows what he's doing with Doctor Who. Otherwise, it'll be a rough five years for the show, and the apparent death of the franchise's popularity. BBC knows this, and they probably have an inkling as to what is a decent idea... that or they were just desperate to give DW a showrunner at any cost, and would gladly sign the show away to the Devil to help the show along. I guess that should be even more indicative of how bad Moffat was, that it would take a deal with the Devil to fix a much desired and beloved show. <_<

I'm straying a bit from what I'm trying to say here, which is that DW suffered over the last several years. BBC knowingly tried to get Chibnall to come on board, but he refused until he negotiated the plan he had for so, so long that he never thought would make it into DW. To me, at least, that means he wanted to do something of his own with the show since before Moffat's damage was done.

Combine this with the fact that Whittaker worked with Chibby before, and this doesn't reek so much of Moffat as you're making it out to do. Moffat's influences might still exist for a time, but that's possibly akin to healing a gaping scar that's all too difficult to hide. Remember, Star Wars episode VII had to work to get away from the prequel trilogy, but the taint of those few films still lingered until the day of VII's release.

At this point only time will tell if good decisions were made. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much with the new Doctor and showrunner, but I'm more than willing to give them both a chance.

P.O. is just taking the same approach to Doctor Who that he takes to everything, "Prepare for it to be mediocre or terrible, and if it's not, then give it a chance."

He feels like it won't be a waste of time, and he can take the logical and preverbal high ground.

He feels like it's better to not get your hopes up just to be disappointed than to be pleasantly surprised. Which makes sense.

Those pics must have taken forever to load at 300 baud on an audiocouple dialup modem there PO...

Worse, imagine trying to use telnet to search local BBSes for the goods!

I am presently deaf, well partially deaf. I can hear some things but not a lot. I can't hear the television or my phone.

It's a side effect from stumpy getting infected. It happened very quickly as on Monday I had the stitches removed from my stump, and it wasn't infected at all. Fast forward two days and I feel like death, and stumpy stinks like death.

I'm taking antibiotics and keeping a nice clean dressing on the stump, and I'm taking medicine to keep the fever down. Yet, I can't hear jack Crap so watching or listening is gone. My nurse took my temperature and it was 101. Way too high. I've been sleeping a lot too.

Just wanted to let you know how I was doing. Which is not well at all.

That sounds horrible. Hope it clears up soon. Lady luck seems to have it in for you for some reason.

I was also joking.

Well yeah, the "for research" part was obvious, but there's a reasonable chance you didn't know nude already exist for her I guess.

A small chance in retrospect, but a chance nonetheless. Then again, I guess I was really responding to tabloids having nudes of her with a "Who cares?"

This might be the biggest waste of time and money I have ever seen, and I like Final Fantasy VIII.

Yes, it's a Kotaku link, but it's so going to trigger P.O. so bad it was worth posting.
