He feels like it won't be a waste of time, and he can take the logical and preverbal high ground. He feels like it's better to not get your hopes up just to be disappointed than to be pleasantly surprised. Which makes sense. Entity, you and I are a lot more forgiving than that evil robot, but even I'm starting to have a lot of disdain for humanity. Especially now that I'm handicapped.
