I saw them mention Warriors of Light in the desc and thought we were getting WoL 6*. Then I saw the rewards and thought "Wasn't Reflect Mail from a prior event? Oh well, wasn't playing yet last time, so I can get it now!" and then I realized it was something they already ran and this weeks update was more story. Can't argue with the free story lapis though!

One of my facebook friends got Marie yesterday. She's no longer running Vanille as her companion unit.

You shouldn't even need to use Hawkeye on the last round. Attacking normally twice seems to do it for the FFBE board, more autoattacks!

Speaking of Tidus, I checked him out on the wiki, and I'm trying to figure out why he's considered one of those "You really need to pull for him" units. He doesn't seem to have the same damage dealing ability as your Orlandeau/Fryevia/Aileen's.

I'm seeing some good buffs, water resistance, a nice 12 hit attack for chaining (but only elemental if you set it up with another ability first or have his TMR, and only hitting an imperil if you use his limit first). His limit will fill quickly, but I don't see why he's considered in the same tier (or according to some, better than those above).

Tidus's attack is huge. 50% bonus from passives, already a 154 base, and passive killer abilities for beasts, birds and demons.

The fact that Quick Trick as a 4x damage multiplier is crazy, and 12 hits is a ton.

Also, he gets even better with enhancements. Looks like an extra 50% ATK when equipped with a sword and Quick Trick multiplier up to 7.2? This just just reading from the google translated altema page, so I could be mistaken.

Think a good Queen without the glass ceiling.

He can buff, go Mana battery and deal damage. The issue however is that his frames forces him to work with a copy to make the most of his chains.

How does that put him in the Orlandeau/Fryevia/Aileen crowd though? Based on what I'm seeing I don't think I'd even consider him to be better than Rikku (even though they're completely different units). I'll still do dailies if I get Rikku, but I think I'd rather have multiple Rikku's like the robot trial video I saw a while ago instead of gunning for Tidus. I'm going to end up with him since I seem to get rainbows when I'm pulling for a 4*, but I'd much rather have her.

Element+high multiplier+chaining. (Plus like dirt girl he comes with his own bis.)

What do you think Orlandeau/Fryevia/Aileen do that Tidus doesn't? They all have very high attack and chaining potential, plus Tidus has a partywide buff and some passive killer abilities. Aileen also has trouble chaining with other aside from herself too, so I don't consider that a knock against Tidus.

Aileen and Orlandeau are still technically ranked higher on the DPS chart than Tidus is (and Fryevia would presumably be too if JP had her), but I'm not sure what you think Tidus is missing.

Aileen, Orlandeau, and Fryevia can all attack and imperil on the same turn (Piledriver, Divine Ruination, Frost Flower Blitz).

In order for Tidus to do the same, he needs to set up with his limit to drop the targets water resistance, so you need to waste a turn to get him to his full potential in that regard. With the other 3, they can do the imperil and attack in one action. He can get a higher water resistance drop than they can with his limit, but it's still an extra turn to set up with a limit on top of that.

Tidus doesn't really need the imperil though, because the multiplier on Quick Trick is so high.

Note: I'm not trying to convince you that you need to pull for him or anything - no one should pull for 5*s, just that his ranking in the top tier of damage dealers is justified.

The multiplier for Frost Flower Blitz is 8x hybrid (I think most things cut that in half, so lets do that and say it's 4x plus 50% ice resistance for 3 turns)

Fryevia: Frost Flower Blitz, 4x, 50% ice imperil for 3 turns, 7 hits
Tidus: Quick Trick, 4x, 12 hits
Aileen: Piledriver, 2x with ignore Def 50%, 50% Earth imperil for 3 turns, 5 hits
Orlandeau: Divine Ruination, 2x with ignore Def 50%, 50% Light imperil for 3 turns, 7 hits

His multiplier is even with Fryevia's without the imperil, and 5 extra hits.
Not sure how the ignore 50% def calculates out, but it's higher than Aileen and Orlandeau in that regard, depending on how the math works for ignore 50% def.

Tidus is definitely good, but I'm just not seeing him at their level as a DPS unit. A step below yes, but not at that top tier.

You can tell this is an old event. I used one unit the entire time and every battle was done in one turn.

So if I want to use a chaining Fryevia with another Fryevia, do I need to be Dual Wielding (like how people do DW chaining Orlandeaus)? All my Fry friends don't have Dual Wield, so not sure if I should stick with Orlandeau instead.

no- she can chain with her self. DW just adds extra hits.

Just time the Blitzes together and the chains will work. If only one of them has DW, then you just get an unchained Blitz at the back end.
