I'm on cloud 9 right now. Just beat the Gilgamesh Offensive using my own stuff (and a friend of course), and got all the rewards to boot.

Rain - Air Knife, HP and Defensive Gear
Cecil - Durandal, HP and Defensive Gear
Bartz - Chirijiraden, HP gear
Y'shtola - Mostly her own private gear, Jeweled Ring and HP/MP stuff
Friend Noctis - Excalibur and Chirijiraden

Honestly, I have my own Noctis as well, and I'm not sure if I could have gotten rid of my Bartz and used my own Noctis in his place. Bartz was basically my mana battery bitch after 50%, and was only there to serve as back up Wind/Fire sealer in the event I had a mishap with Rain. I probably sacrificed him 8 times to keep Noctis and Rain fed so they could keep Thunder Flasking and Lava Flooring. If I had taken my own Noctis instead of Bartz, I might have been able to have a bit more utility with an extra Raise and Cover going on, but I wouldn't have had the secondary Wind damage source.

I beat it though, and I haven't slept at all because of how excited I was when I got it done lol. I was holding my breath hoping that the friend unit Noctis was going to kill Gilgamesh with his LB, and when he did, I about lost control lol.

It's probably old hat to some people at this point, but as free to play with no TMRs and a pretty casual playstyle, this is a pretty big accomplishment for me lol.

So... I'm looking to get serious about doing the Bahamut Trial now.

From what I've seen suggested for units, I am thinking of taking Fryevia, Y'shtola, Refia, and Cloud of Darkness of my own units. Who should I be looking for as a friend?

Always Fryevia (in this case). Don't listen to the people on the FFBE board that say you have to take Orlandeau for everything. Bahamut has 80% light resist, so that nerfs his top gear right off the bat. He has no resist to ice, and Fryevia is a better damage dealer than Orlandeau, especially when you have one of your own to take with.

Datamining on Echidna. No imperil boosts, and it uses blind, paralyze, and confuse for status, all of which Fryevia has innate immunity to. I think I'll pop Diablos on her for Demon Killer this time around. Still trying to figure out what status 2 and 4 is, ffbe board things it's one of the sets of breaks.

Echidna has no immunity to Blind and Silence, no resistance to Fire, Ice, Lighting, and Water, and 50% resistance to Wind, Stone, Light, and Dark.

Turn 2: Refia was dead, Cecil was confused. Fryevia's are immune to the status' Echidna used. Fryevia's used Frost Flower Blitz, Setzer used Double Dice. Dead. Was kind of hoping for more.

On my testing on the lower difficulties I seem to have more luck with a more defensive and RNG reliant team with Setzer instead of the more dependable Firion

Planning to go with a team of status immune provoke Snow, Minfilia, Refia, Setzer, and hopefully Friend Fryeveia. All naturally immune to Confusion so Minfilia has more leeway to do whatever is more needed at the moment

If the Orlandeau's are geared to resist the status' he could work, yes. From early responses on the FFBE board though, Orlandeau has been a disaster for most people, even on the lower difficulty because of getting confused and killing the party. There's really no reason to not use a Fryevia in this one if you take a friend DPS unit, since she has significantly higher damage potential in this trial (no resistance to ice vs 50% light resist in addition to more raw damage, innate immunity to 3 of the big status effects used).

If I was doing ELT a second time, I would have put the Safety bit on Refia instead of Cecil. If the healer dies you either have to win really fast or lose the no items bonus.

Update on the 2 Orlandeau/Olive from the FFBE board.

"Tried two Orlandeau with an olive finisher did about 40% of his HP.

Don't feel like this is one you can OTKO very easy."

If 2 Orlandeau and an Olive can only do 40%, and 2 Fryevia and a Setzer can take him down completely in 2 turns, Fryevia is definitely the clear choice for friend DPS unit.

Not sure, no real data on that. Luneths innate resistances will be helpful, but he doesn't come close to matching Fryevia in terms of pure damage.

After the disastrous first run, Echidna decided to drain Minfilia, and that's when I knew I won't get through the No Item requirement without bringing in an MP battery and used my huge ass stockpile of items. It got kind of scary when Echidna charmed Snow in a row, preventing him from refreshing his Provoke, but thankfully she didn't charm anyone else. I managed to prevent the first Flare threshold, but the second one took me completely by surprise. Fortunately everybody survived, though Fryeveia miraculously only had 1 HP remaining. Once the HP was low enough, I unleashed the Flower Blitz + Double Dice and had Titan do a late blow to an already dead Echidna

Minfilia cycling Wind Guard/Soil Guard/Guard Order is such a ****ing lifesaver. Definitely MVP... other than the Friend DPS

My only choices for an MP battery are Bartz or Queen. I'm leaning Bartz personally. Have to wait for my stamina to recharge though.
