I can't say I care for any Bastion song in any real capacity nowadays but I really don't see any way I'd want to pick that wannabe Kishida Kyoudan remix over 'em. Especially not when that game actually has one that isn't that bad for once.

That aside, I've personally been playing a few games with soundtracks by Hitoshi Sakimoto lately (namely Ogre Battle, another playthrough of GrimGrimoire, and very briefly the other day Crimson Shroud) which is why I guess I was okay with Blue Desert Hotel as much as I was. Probably would have picked it over either song in the first match quite easily. I kinda actually want to pick something from GrimGrimoire for a contest but I'm just not sure if it has anything that would have even a faint hope of doing well (or making it in for that matter...)

Arti's vote was the equivalent of a tying goal being scored in the last minute of extra time of a soccer match...except that there were 25 goals score before that, so obviously we weren't playing soccer. I also seriously doubt there will be another line in a results post longer than the first one in this post. (Maybe if Fascinating Flower Country had won, but it didn't.)

The problem with this philosophy is that we get sick enough of it in round 4 and vote against it, and then we suffered through 3 wins for nothing.

Decided to actually work on my favs bracket for Bracket B in a vaguely timely manner after all

Shoutout to the entirety of B1 for being as excellent as it is. (B1 is the first quarter of Bracket B, right? Or are they eighths? I forget now. Well whatever, I'm treating it as the first quarter.)

I ended up only taking Sai-Hate Galaxy to round 2 in my own favourites (and I'm on the fence about having done even that), and I couldn't even begin to justify taking Praying Hands over literally anything else in its 4-pack, which says so much (I mean, I still consider Praying Hands basically the toppest-tier Castlevania song, so... yeah. Stiff competition). Also uh, no comment on my change of heart towards Liela Xea since noms. Gotta save those spicy remarks for tomorrow.

I apparently really need to step up my picks for next contest, if this part of the bracket (where I've basically done nothing but contribute stuff that even I, with all the bias in the world, can only consider total fodder relatively) is any indication...

The Maximum High Speed = MARIA, 15-15

I held off on the results post because I knew I was going to need to do some recounting. My independent consulting firm has confirmed these totals with me.

Two of the votes from yesterday that were both for Max High Speed and Title caught my attention, but Title would have won on tiebreakers, anyway, and we can settle the second pairing via rematch. Apologies to the people who hate MARIA and now have to listen to it an extra time.

You're going to have be a little more specific, but you voted for MHS, so I'll take a guess.

Even though I wasn't sure what to expect of Maximum High Speed and knew that putting any song against MARIA is, to a degree, "feeding" it, I also realized that MHS had a very real chance of winning that match. I can see my suspicions were justified. At least I didn't DQ those votes yesterday, thereby giving it another chance to win.

I assume a fair number of Maria votes were because MHS is terrible

Maximum High Speed is cool and stylish, and at least sounds very different from the typical inclusions on this list, which is one of my main criteria for voting lately.
