Radiant Dawn is pretty good; PoR is excellent. FE7 will always be my favorite, if for no other reason than the ball-buster that was Hector Hard Mode. (Plus, Hector is the manliest man who ever manned)

I'm in the opposite camp; I'm very critical of almost anything involving time travel. Off the top of my head, the only games I like that feature it heavily are Life is Strange and Bioshock Infinite.

Re: FE discussion.

Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn the best. Tellius saga too powerful. Gets a bit muddled after that. FE7 is probably the most well-rounded after that. Awakening is lolz in gameplay but I almost look back fondly on its story/characters after Fates (otherwise the characters are lolz and the story is... let's just say flawed). Future Past was legit, at least. game should have been that. Fates was cool on the gameplay front but oh my god the story and characters. FE8 is just like a weaker FE7.

So I'm thinking of doing a VGM ranking topic at some point in the near (but not immediate) future. Would people rather that I did it immediately after VGMC or that I waited a month or two or something? I don't know whether or not people will still want more or will be burned out on VGM at that point. (or does no one care much? idk)

I have no preference. That kind of thing is on a different wavelength for me than VGMC. Even if I were feeling burned out from VGMC it wouldn't affect how I'd feel about a ranking topic.

Unless there's some sort of active participation involved, I doubt it makes a difference.

The excess crayons have definitely been quelled. 27 vote day is nice compared to what we've been getting. In Will/Want, the board was torn on expecting Six Feet Thunder or LINCA to retire, but their hopes were squarely with LINCA.

You can do it immediately after. Think that's fine, especially since there are usually fewer matches/day later in the contest.

Ok, I'll probably do this more or less (see below) right after VGMC ends then since it sounds like most people don't really care. (which I guess makes sense since I'm the only one doing any real listening)

Though, I don't know how the timing works out, but I'll probably wait until after the main site contest ends to start. I don't really want to run nominations while that's going on since the topic will be harder to find, and any randoms that decide to nominate probably wouldn't stick around. Also, as much as I complain when you guys do stuff like kill Aurora's Theme or Ar-ciel Ar-manaf, I do actually generally like B8's taste in video game music quite a bit. Plus, the knowledge that this board has on the subject is far far higher than the average person, which means more variety which is always good.

I put off voting until the morning, and then get too busy to vote throughout the entire day to the extent that I didn't even remember to post the match on time...and everything I would have voted for loses. MARIA haters, thank all the things that got in my way or we'd have a tie. MARIA won the last one.

In other news, speaking of ties, the side bracket has finally finished round 1.

Incidentally, I cost myself a position at the top of the leaderboard by not voting yesterday. Mac and I both otherwise had 39, but I had Maria in my bracket and he had Sexualizer.

Awakening ~Nurburgring Suite~ < Aquatic Ambiance, 11-12

These matches were mostly determined by the late vote. The 7 final voters picked the winner 7-0, 4-2, and 6-0. And they decided that I really had overseeded Death By Glamour. I feel bad for Awakening, knowing it would have won if I had voted for it.

Can't tell if I'm glad we avoided putting me through the torment that would have been Merciless Savior/Into the Light in R2 or still mad Merciless Savior lost and we were deprived such an excellent match.

In case anyone is wondering how seeding has done so far...

Bracket A, R1: 7 upsets in 32 matches
Bracket B, R1: 5 upsets in 32 matches
Bracket A, R2: 4 upsets, plus a 14>6 (double upset), and a 12>13, in 16 matches
Bracket B, R2: TBD! (Currently two of four if 5>4 qualifies as an upset)

The only really visible mistake at this point, then, is Brickworks and/or its opponents. At present, the remaining songs in A are:
1-4 seeds - 62.5%
5-8 seeds - 25%
9-16 seeds - 12.5%

This is literally as close as possible to what I would want after two rounds in order to call seeding a success. Ideally we get about 80% according to plan, 20% upsets. Propogated across two rounds, that means my ideal would be:
1-4 seeds - 64%
5-8 seeds - 26%
9-16 seeds - 10%

After R3, though, all bets are off. I don't necessarily want the 20% rule to hold after that, because we'd have over half 1 and 2 seeds. I also don't want to pat myself on the back too early, since bracket B might go very very differently.

Battle With Magus > Denshou no Shi -Verum-, 12-10
Right Hand from Behind > Overworld Adventure, 13-9

Very consistent looking results.

Now Boss Battle just needs to lose and we'll be guaranteed a great retiree here.

Thank you, mac. I have some people helping me with my father's estate, which is a much more important thing to be grateful for, and I know I don't thank them often enough.

I'll talk to ed about his vote when I get the chance. However, I'm going to be occupied all day. I'm also going to be going to another early morning flea market thing, so I might not want to stay up until 10 tonight. If there's anyone who is willing to sub the upcoming matches, I'd appreciate that. (I'll postpone the tiebreaker for now.)

uhh, why is that, exactly? I look for patterns in people who only post intermittently. There was somebody last year who only voted in Undertale matches, eleven times in all (six for Megalovania). By the end of the contest, I was DQing their votes, assuming they weren't actually listening to the matches.

Well I'd mostly be voting for Undertale songs >_>
