Just finished digimon adventure 2. It was pretty good and sad at the end. One thing I didn't like was that in Ken's flash backs there was another kid with a digimon. they never explained that.

Adventure 3 isn't over yet so i might watch data squad.

So like a true champion I tried niera again today and beat the intro first try without wimping out and dropping it down to normal and fortunately this time it didn't freeze. I'm hoping that white screen issue is just with the prologue since thats where the complaints seemed to come from but who knows, hasn't happened again to me.

So after having been through the hell that is the prologue and getting to save I went on my first mission and promptly died in like 2 seconds. Then I made it much further and died to a shield guy because I was low health so I couldn't see the red attack tell thingy and he bopped me quicker than I thought. Then I saw a lovely deer thing that tapped me slightly and I instantly died from full health. The ability to save made all this just fine though and I'm having much more fun now that I stuck it out. I'm hoping I eventually become more durable cause the random one shots even from relatively basic enemies is a bit obnoxious and I specifically played hard instead of very hard to avoid exactly this (for those that haven't played it, all attacks on very hard one shot the player no matter what like that one difficulty in DMC).

Huh, you can go back to the intro area which I did and the screen froze in the exact same place as before. Maybe there is just a glitched spot or something. Went back in, got all the stuff, made it to the save spot, walked about 10 feet, froze again. I'm hoping its just the abandoned factory that is the problem although it occurs to me that it could be something to do with the sword you get there.

Its really a shame that some studios make it seem hard, especially for series that did well enough.

On the niera front it really does seem like the crashes are location specific so most of the game is fine, sorta. I also figured out why the difficulty is so awful. You can use healing items instantly while paused in combat with no cooldown and you can hold 99 of each healing item and you can also buy them for virtually free (5 minutes of fishing nets you enough money to buy 99 of each). This means all attacks that don't one shot essentially don't do damage because you can just insta heal away the pain a near infinite number of times for almost no cost. This makes it so the only way to actually make the game challenging is to make most things one shot you which of course means they have to make it easy to avoid everything which means normal is obviously insultingly easy and hard is mostly easy except when you die in one hit to an offscreen attack.

Well, I'll have you know, October, November, December made sense, and July and August used to be 5th and 6th month. Then, the Romans decided to assign the 50 odd "monthless" winter days after december as two months, January and Febuary. I don't know why they were at the beginning instead of the end of the year, which screws up the normal, partial number month system.

Still been playing D5 btw. Found a map I have no idea how to deal with yet. Even my level 5xxx didn't have a chance when I tried it. Thought I was going to stop playing it, but apparently I'm not done with it yet. I liked Disgaea, but I'm definitely liking this one better.

I was searching some sites the other day and I was thinking, "Man, Ar Tonelico must be pretty niche."

These games are different level of niche than Disgaea, Compile Heart's non-neptunia games or even the Gust's modern Atelier games.

Recently finished 1 and 2. Bad games, but they exceeded my expectations. They had some unique music, its own language and some deep world-building that never got fully fleshed out ingame.

I realize the series is dead but I feel like the community was never really there. Though the existence of the wiki and the metafallica patch seems to contradict this.

I really loved those hymmnos songs.

Despedia's vocals were so otherworldly. Even in the context of the game, its rock/industrial influences were unique.

It sort of reminded me of Kajiura's Godsibb from Xenosaga.

(I really shouldn't use examples. They're all interesting tbh.)

I got Ar Tonelico 2 for cheap when Gamestop was doing 75% off PS2 titles. Didn't get very far in, but it seemed interesting.

You know, I never understood this and those "It ruined my childhood!!!" statements.

It's not like the new movie suddenly erases the original series. They're still there right?

If you didn't like the remake, why not then go ahead and watch the original and enjoy that like you wanted?

Same goes for video games as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna watch it-mainly because the trailers made it look terrible and I have no faith in NA's track record of live action anime remakes- but to not watch it for fear of it "taking away" or "tainting" your childhood memories, just seems like an inane reason to me.

I'm really liking the parts of niera that aren't combat and the shitty buggy port. The story and characters are all so bizarre but they have this underlying feeling of sadness and meaning, like there is something important there that you just can't quite grasp consciously. Plus there are lesbians and you can blow the main characters skirt off.

The combat is easily the worst of platinum's games that I have played. Shallow and just terribly balanced. The AI is also brain dead and enemies are very boring to fight. You can also usually just let your invincible ally do all the work while you sit there doing nothing (or more likely shooting autolocking missiles) and if you feel like doing the work yourself you can just run in circles while shooting and the AI has no answer for this other than to die like the dogs that they are. This is on hard btw, normal must put people to sleep and easy literally plays itself by automating all of combat. I'm not sure the lesbians are featured prominently enough for this to an auto 10/10.

Yea, it's got a quite a plethora of otaku pandering stuff, but it's done pretty tastefully and also delivers sentimental values about living life, which makes the show pretty outstanding.

See also: The Agarest series, among many others. I have long suspected that there is a growing number of JRPGs, but a diminishing number of fans to spread amongst them, and most of those go to mainstays like Final Fantasy and Persona. This is doubly true for fanficcers like myself.

A sleeper hit like Re:Zero? I don't have the slightest clue; there's actually a lot of sci-fi/fantasy shows this season and I'm not inclined to watch them.

A hipster hit like Rakugo or Saiki Kusuo? I'll pin my hopes on Sakura Quest. It seems to be like Shirobako in style.

(There is a time and a place for that, of course, but --) At least Gintama is still going strong, though both the manga and the anime are likely to end soon.

Crunchyroll picked up Gundam Build Fighters (including Try). That at least makes for a good weekend. And it looks like Gundam: Twilight Axis is getting animated. That one is supposed to follow Unicorn in continuity.

Finished all of nier automata (pretty much, I still have like 10 joke bad ends to go back and get if I feel like it). It was the most painful kind of frustrating for me. It did a few things that I really liked that I desperately want more of in games but it fell flat on so many other areas for me that I can't really say its a good game. The poor combat, the horribly balanced rpg aspects, the small world, especially flooded city, the massive plot holes and idiot moments in the beginning of route C (seriously 4 fucking flight units?! I was level 70 and they were level 48, I killed like 100 of them before that part, whatever), the completely useless decision to make A2 a character instead of just continuing as 2B, the very unbalanced equipment upgrade system that you generally can't use almost at all until a ways through when suddenly you can just max everything, the very poor optimization, the very poor port, pretty long load times) yeah I guess thats plenty for now.

Its method of storytelling is fantastic forcing you to really think and read various archives and weapon stories and stuff like that, and the complexity of the background plot was great, but once everything is uncovered and you look at what it all means, its just kinda stupid. Its kinda like a metal gear plot except less direct and with more panty shots. They also do the thing japan always does where it sacrifices surface plot integrity to deliver a message but I should just be used to that by now.

The music was fucking amazing, the main playable characters look pretty great, you get to kill square enix like 5 times in the E ending, you unhelp all the NPCs by doing their quests, thus ruining their lives (and often ending them),9S's route was actually a good attempt at the replay route idea from a different perspective and was well executed, you get to blow off your skirt, there were lesbians, you can get eaten by the long machine with teeth that comes out from under the singer robots dress, you eat a fish and die, oh and you can murder a bunch of pacifist robot children so all in all its a very uneven game in terms of quality. A lot of really great things and a lot of really awful things. Its the worst game that everyone should go play.

I feel like those are some unpopular opinions about it you have there but fair enough. After replaying it a second time, it still stands as my favorite game. Crazy how two people can feel so very differently about the same thing. I'd like to add that I'm saying none of this with a sarcastic or condescending tone.

Eh, at least on the steam boards the combat and game balance tends to get criticized fairly often. You also gotta understand, I had about 30 white screen crashes from the port issues which lost me roughly 15 hours of playtime overall so my whole experience had a bit of extra negative to it. Also seems a fair few people think A2 was pretty pointless. The origin of project yorha in general seems totally pointless to me, like, there were a million better and more obvious ways to handle the problem it was designed to address.

The machine lifeform stuff with N2 and the info in the machine report gotten post route C I was fine with (happy even). It always baffles me how machines in these kinds of things never reprogram themselves, at least to get around prime directives and what not. Actually I guess they sorta did in this game, they just couldn't find meaning in anything else to bother overwriting their original order.

It also sorta annoys me that basically everything you do in route A and B don't matter and then route C only is able to happen because all of the characters act stupid for a while o wow, virus across all yorha members on the ground and command isn't responding, better go there in person even though thats obviously really fucking stupid, oh dang, look at all these infected people that I could save by hacking which takes zero real time, nope, no time. Ok well lets at least save the commander, nope, no time. But I can fix you instan-NO TIME. Ok, well time to fly to earth, couldn't we have just transported our data using the terminal, the same way we got here? What if its infected, what if the flight unit is infected?

O well, off to earth, whats this, 4 yorha flight units, damn, we are only the 2 strongest units that took down adam and eve, countless machine lifeforms, and over 100 infected yorha not to mention I'm secretly an E model designed specifically to defeat other yorha members in combat so I can execute them and an S model that can and does frequently hack other yorha members and enemies mid flight. Nope, can't even try this, better send 9S away.

Ok now that thats settled time to get shot down by 4 peons. Whelp, I'm corrupted, no time for pod to search for 9S so he can fix me. But 2B, I can scan for him instantly and do it while we walk- NO TIME. Now I gotta get somewhere away from other androids. You mean like the flooded city which is about the furthest away you can be from androids? No, the commercial facility directly in between pascals camp, the resistance camp, and the forest kingdom camp. Oh btw 2B, I'm talking to 9S's pod constantly so actually I should know where he is constantly which would mean I know he is following us and only like 100 feet behind us. O well, made it to a place I can die. Thanks for the assist A2. Bitch you could have just removed your OS chip or eaten a fish.

Uh oh, guy who has like 3 days of memories of working with you saw you die to a fellow android. ALL MACHINES WILL PAY. Er, you know it was A2, the android right, and that 2B was infected, and that you could have just hacked your flight unit after 2B seized control, or that you could have transported yourself to the terminal near the tower and gotten there in time. Oh well, time to be damaged for weeks by a fall I have survived in gameplay a dozen times. Damn those filthy machines for defending themselves when we assaulted them for no reason.

Pod do you know anything about what happened to 2B. Nah, I mean except everything but that would probably only calm you down and make you stable, better keep it from you for no reason while expressing concern about your deteriorating mental state. Oh btw, you know 2B is 2E and killed you like a bunch of times in the past before route A started right? Nah lets keep that from you too.

The second season of Owarimonogatari has been announced for summer 2017.

I know the success of the monogatari series means that Shaft will always make easy profit from it and thus will adapt everything, but I can't shake the feeling of feeling good.
