I'm at the beginning of the last chapter in D5. Probably not going to keep playing it much longer though. Will probably just beat it and start a ng+ and be done with it for a good while. Not sure if I'll start a game soon after it, but I did get Dragon's Dogma in the xmas Steam sale as well, so that'll probably be the next game I play.

If you type upcoming anime MAL into google it'll give you links to all kinds of lists for upcoming anime on MAL of course, and what to expect in the separate seasons.

These lists certainly help me stay on top of anime.

On that note I've been checking out Kemono Friends. I like animals ears and it's cute but the CG is awful IMO.

I watched both last year. It was good but it had too many cooks, so to speak. It tried to do too much, so plot points got poorly resolved or dropped entirely.

But it was also noticeably more lighthearted than season 1. Where in the original the number of characters who died (good or bad) were well into the double digits, you could count the S2 characters on one hand.

lol I agree about the CG but I'm overwhelmingly in love with Kemono Friends. It's oddly one of my favorites this season. I really didn't expect to feel this way the first time I laid eyes on it but the girls are just so cute and I love the mystery of it all.

Attack on Titan S2 - Uh, I'm probably only watching it because of it's popularity. I didn't enjoy it that much; I don't care for the characters, and I think the pacing is atrocious at times, but the world is interesting enough.

Sakura Quest - It's P.A. Works and it's going to be like Shirobako (workplace anime about anime), except it's about tourism and small towns? I think I'm most hyped about this actually.

Alice to Zouroku - Seinen mystery show, and JC staff usually does things well enough. Also, MC is an old man, which is a rarity in anime.

Danmachi side story - Not going to lie, I think Danmachi is pretty stupid, but it's fun enough, and that's what matters I guess.

Tsuki ga Kirei - More or less, high school character drama? It's also not a adaptation of anything, which makes me hopeful that there's originality despite such a common setting/set-up. I love character development, so hopefully this one gets me.

Sakurada Reset - It's going to be 2-cour from David Production (known for doing Jojo). More time-travel mystery stuff; hopefully the characters are interesting and it's points of intrigue are too.




And These are season 2's of shows that I'm interested in that I'll dive into once it's all out. Doing so to keep myself from getting bogged down in seasonal anime.

Kekkai Sensen S2



I might pick up another show or two depending on their reception after a few episodes are out.

There are so many fantasy anime in the upcoming season. We got action fantasy, we got sci-fantasy, we got comedy fantasy, we got ecchi fantasy, we got drama fantasy, we got romance fantasy, we got it all. Unfortunately I haven't actually heard anything about most of them so the majority will probably be meh but as long as just a few of them are good, I'll be happy. I've been looking for a good fantasy anime for forever it feels like.

Started reading this manga called Grand Blue.

It's from the same guy who wrote Baka and Test and it's just as, if not even more, GUT-BUSTINGLY HILARIOUS!

It's rare for me to actually laugh out loud when reading stuff, but this one manages to do it with every chapter.

Feel the same way, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan was a surprise hit with me. At first I wrote it off, when I read a bunch of the manga but I grew to really like it, and the anime was great too.

I just finished routes A, B, and C of Nier Automata. That was the most stunning and emotional game I've played in a long time. I would consider it to be a work of art and truly a brilliant experience. I don't believe that anything out this year will be able to top this game for me. I just can't get over how much it's story and characters resonated with me. God, what a wonderful creation.

Okay okay, I'll stop gushing now. For real though, I haven't loved a game like this since Bloodborne came out in 2015. And damn does it have a phenomenal soundtrack. Cannot wait to buy it.

Just finished doing everything and I can safely say that Nier: Automata is my favorite game of all time. I always thought it was crazy when people were asked what their favorite game was and that they could actually pick just one, but I guess I'm crazy now too.

Thought I was about done with D5, but I've been playing more. Up to 5 max level gladiators and have a max level of the 5 growth boost innocents as well. My highest leveled dude is at 1903 with some pretty decent stats, as well as all weapon masterys at S rank. Still leveling up items and searching for items in the item world, so won't do the last chapter yet.

pso2 anime might have been <_< at times but it seems to actually be worth it for Episode 4 plot

stuff like embodied weapons, earth's bullshit technology level, and the reason why the pso2 game even exists on earth is getting talked about more

Mother, the leader of Mother Cluster (that Rina was part of, and controls all the world's technology infrastructure), is basically trying to take over the world and is preparing to launch preemptive attacks on ARKS. Earth's aether is analogous to ARKS' photons although aether seems to transmit data more effectively (but Earth essentially has the same potential for bullshit technology like the ARKS do), and those who have high aptitude for aether can access PSO2 on the aether-based network. One level above them are those who can physically materialize in PSO2, and Mother tends to formally brainwash/recruit them at this point, making them her agents in exchange for high positions in society. Aether powers tend to manifest as weapons, but this one villain could manifest them as explosions that could summon underlings so who the fuck knows. Current point in the story is Hitsugi (red haired girl) trying to figure out what the fuck to fight for, with Mother attempting to kidnap her, probably due to her cooperation with ARKS.

pso2 anime by itself does feel like a bunch of weird asspulls, but it does kinda fit into pso2 the game. i mean episode 2 had time travel shenanigans retconning your entire history with ARKS so you were the bad guy in the eyes of everyone else, or something

Man that Konosuba S2 finale sure was somethin. I don't quite love the show as much as most, but I do still love it. I think I just preferred S1 to S2. It's certainly not the best of the season imo. I'd probably have to give that honor to Little Witch Academia or Youjo Senki. Part of me REALLY wants to give it to Kemono Friends, as crazy as that sounds. What a sleeper hit that one is. I'd put Gabriel DropOut way up there too but I don't think it's for quite the right reasons :3

Konosuba's S2 was more or less the same as S1.

ACCA is my favorite of this season. I find myself fascinated by how it weaves its intrigue.

Finished the last chapter in D5 and unlocked the post game. Not sure If I'm going to play it more now or not. Haven't really been watching any anime for a while either, started watching Monk again and up to season 6 of it. A small anime break til this season ends doesn't sound bad either.

Nier: Automata is almost done downloading on steam. I did make a bit of a fuck up this week, I wanted a game to tide me over till nier:a came out and got stardew valley (i think it was on sale).

That game is so addicting there should be recovery meetings and I'm nowhere near done with it. I really like how it takes a town of complete stereotypes and develops each one of them into an interesting character and I also love how the choices it gives you are real choices and not just the typical good, neutral, evil like so many other games. A lot of the choices really feel difficult to make especially when it comes to 2 people in a fight and you are caught in the middle trying to diffuse the situation without pissing anyone off.

Oh it also has the best fishing minigame I think I've played (which is honestly a pretty low bar, fishing in real life is pretty simple so its hard to gamify it to be interesting and not take 15 minutes a fish).

Oh also you can play as a girl and kiss other girls so auto 10/10 for me.

Ok so initial impressions are awful. The beginning of the game is just straight up terrible game design. Everything is baby mode easy for about 30 MINUTES!!! and then you fight a boss that kills you in one hit from full health. You cannot save until after you beat the boss so you have to start the whole game over from the beginning going through that same 30+ minutes again including an unskippable cutscene (the rest are skippable, why not the first one?) and super easy bullet hell parts. I've done this for 2 fucking hours and I have nothing to show for it. Its not even the game being hard, just extremely punishing. I'd rather not drop the difficulty down to normal because the difficulty itself is just fine. The attacks that kill me are a learning experience and largely due to not knowing how the combat system works (namely dodge timings) since this is the very beginning of the game so the only time to find out is right then where failure means going through the same boring ass 30 minutes again.

I imagine once I do beat this boss and actually get some ability to save the game, it will be fine, but this has very much soured my initial experience. I've been hit all of like 7 times in 2 hours and it just so happens 4 of those times were insta kills.

EDIT: made it further, still died in one hit, still didn't get to save. Like why, why would they do this? I mean, i get the intro dialogue is a jab at how bullshit it is but still, why would they make it this way? I timed it, I played for 33 minutes essentially speed running through the first area and got hit one single time, right at the end, which of course one shot me. I'm not even on very hard were every hit is a one shot but I fucking might as well be. Its like if in dark souls they made the enemy AI even easier but didn't let you get a checkpoint or save until after beating the taurus demon. No one single moment is difficult, its that if you mess up even once (like when facing a new attack) you die in one hit and start all the way from the beginning. I hate this. Whats after this would have to be the best fucking game of all time for me not to hate the entire game over this one aspect.

You should just play it on normal before you spoil it anymore. It's been said on the Automata board how dumb hard and very hard is. Normal is usually how games are meant to be played the first time anyway.

So I make it to the boss again (for like the 6th time) and I'm about to win and then BOOM! White screen. Check steam forums, happening to a ton of people (along with many other issues). Apparently this is a really crappy port. I've been playing for 4 hours and I kinda just wanna stop playing for good. I guess I'll wait for a patch or something and maybe try it again then. I haven't been this disappointed about a game in a long time, I was looking forward to this game for quite a while.

On a separate note, its great that japanese developers are bringing a ton of games to steam lately, but they are all just broken messes that clearly had not nearly enough resources devoted to the porting processes. It wasn't long ago that berseria came out with its completely broken party AI (they would attack like once every 20 seconds and wouldn't combo at all) and then they made an emergency security patch that created an awful sound bug that essentially forced you to play without sound. At least you could actually play that one though.
