Happy New Year, and welcome!

Credit goes to tazzyboyishere for first starting this in 2016. Basically, there are 50 challenges outlined below that will require you to beat 52 games total. This isn't a competition and there's no prize for winning aside from a sense of accomplishment. This is just a fun thing to participate in while we all work through our video game libraries. It also gives us a place to discuss what we're playing. Feel free to join in!


Rules:
- A game can only be used for one challenge
- Use your own judgment to decide if game fits in a certain category
- Games started in 2016 or earlier are fine as long as they're finished in 2017
- Please add your own games to the spreadsheet linked to below, which anyone can edit
- When using the spreadsheet, please don't mess with checklists/tallies that aren't yours
- There's a tab listing favorite games in the spreadsheet if you need help with challenge 43
- If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hearthstone

I've played about 4 out of what will end up being likely hundreds of hours by the end of the year. I've finally started to take it more seriously, reaching rank 3 for the first time last month.

I mentioned this in the Hearthstone topic, but I'll definitely be making a run at Legend this month with all the free time that I'll have in the near future.

It felt kind of needless to me. I'll occasionally reorder the tally so that whoever is highest is in first anyway, no need for a 1st next to their name. Still, this would be easy to add in if people want it

Picked this up during the winter Steam sale since I'm probably the only one who hadn't played it yet, finished in just over 2 hours with half the trinkets and 837 deaths. Neat little game, even though I'm not very good at it...!

Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.3 Tatarigoroshi

The only one of the half-dozen or so VNs in my Steam backlog that I've read before, along with the following Ch. 4, but the new translation and added voices/CGs from the PS3 patch make it well worth a reread. This could probably fit into some of the other theme challenges too (or maybe even 50-52 if the fifth chapter is released this year!), but I'm a long ways from having to worry about moving games around, so w/e.

I'm not sure why it's so low, it seems it did what it was out to do, tell its short story for a small price and then lead into a sequel for when that comes along. Anyway, I'll be looking out for its sequel when it comes along.

Picross 3D: Round 2

My save file was over 42 hours (with about ~17 hours in 2017) when the credits rolled, which fulfills this challenge. Plus, there's even more puzzles after that, so I haven't completed it yet - but I have beaten it.

I beat the main quests and the civil war questline, anyway. I'm going to go ahead and count that as beaten, especially since I've done all the other major questlines in the past and I'm not sure I want to do them all again.

13. Beat a WRPG

Path of Exile - I played this way back in beta, when act 3 Piety was the final boss, but this is my first time beating the full game. I'm counting normal clear as "beating" the game but I'm going to keep going. Playing as a marauder with one-handed maces. After my first three name choices were taken I ended up with a fire-based name (Pyroxenite), so I think I'll pick Chieftain for thematic consistency.
