I've played Stardew Valley up to about 20 hours, but I'm not sure when I should say I "beat" it

There's no actual ending, but I'm thinking at the end of year 2 I may say I've "beaten" it (although I'll definitely still play some)

The three-hour challenge for an unbeatable game would technically work, but I wanna save that for an MP-based game, and 3 hours in Stardew is nothing, really

When I counted it as beaten last year, it was a combination of the end of year two plus finishing all the community center bundles. Still, you can decide what you consider beating it. Back in the day I considered a Harvest Moon game beaten as soon as I got married.

How "random" does the TVtropes page selected need to be? Can I keep clicking random until I find something that might actually be doable?

In any case, I was on the site for unrelated reasons and found myself going through random tropes until I came across "Ojou" and some of the games on the list are ones I have some vague interest in and hopefully will get around to this year, so I'm posting it here to remind myself to play them to satisfy the challenge at some point.

I had to click through a few to find one that actually had a video game section, but I was lucky enough whenever I did it that a game I already wanted to play wound up being listed. Still, I probably would've clicked random again if the only games were ones I had literally zero interest in.

It's really up to what each individual person decides, though! There's no prize to this so there's no reason to have strict rules. It's all just a fun way to beat the many games we own

So question... Do you guys choose the number first and then beat the game you've selected for that number, or do you beat a game, then look at the list and see where it fits?

Oh this looks cool.

7. Beat a game in a series you've already played some of
Paper Mario: Color Splash (way better than the DS Paper Mario, but still not near as good as the series used to be)

47. Play a game that can't technically be beaten for at least three hours
Disney Infinity 2.0 (Not really that enjoyable, and the online stuff is going to be going down soon so I'm not sure if there is really a reason to even get this game at this point)

2/50

Reminder to self that random TvTrope page was "Big No".

As of last week you could still download stuff.

My kid also just likes running around as Aladdin in toybox, but I dug around in the online stuff to see if there was anything interesting. I think it goes down for sure next month. Then again I first saw a post about it going down last October or something so who knows!

45. Beat a game that's been adapted into another medium

Yo-Kai Watch

I'd seen toys around, but apparently there is also a TV show out there that I was completely unaware of until recently.

Good game overall. Level-5 games have been consistently good to great, out of the ones I've played. I went back and forth on this one a little bit, though. The mechanic is fun and I enjoyed myself for the first 8 hours or so, then I kind of burnt myself out in an attempt to do every sidequest, especially due to the RNG of befriending the Yo-Kai, so after finishing about half of them I just decided to stick with the main story and really enjoyed it.

I don't think I'll do much of the post-game stuff, though. I had my fun with it.

Castle Crashers. Not that great, but decent enough as a party game.

By the way, Roba (or others), does each Life is Strange episode count as a different game, or is the whole thing one game? I noticed they're separate on Steam but wasn't sure if it was just like chapters of a book being sold separately.

As usual it's up to you, but I'd count all five episodes of Life is Strange as a single game.

To use other examples, Starcraft II released its campaign in three parts, each two years after the other. I'd count that as three separate games for this because the developers almost intended for them to stand alone. Other than missing parts of the story, you don't even need to play the first campaign before playing the second. Life is Strange (or any episodic game, really) is usually a single game released in X parts. They're meant to stand as a whole and you have to play episode one before episode two.

19. Beat a platformer

Super Mario 3D Land

This is essentially everything I could have asked for out of a modern Mario. I enjoy the style and gameplay of the 3D games (64, Sunshine, Galaxy), but don't really enjoy the "open world" aspect that some of them have. Bringing this style to set levels and worlds similar to the 2D Marios and executing it well made for a great experience.

I beat the main game while getting all stars in every level, and got a few worlds into the Special levels, but I'm unsure if I'll also complete those as for the most part the levels are the same and I have a bunch of other games I want to get to.

Right now the 3DS is my only Nintendo console and it'll probably stay that way unless the Switch gets content that interests me!

I only really bought the 3DS for JRPGs, and other than those, Mario is the only first party franchise that I have any interest in. I did contemplate getting a WII U just for Mario Maker, but I held out in the hopes that the Switch will get something similar at some point.

Yeah I thought Land was kind of bad, actually. Too easy and none of the levels really had the polish I was expecting (and the tanooki suit is way too OP).

World on the other had is phenomenal imo. One of the best Mario games in a long time. If you enjoyed 3D Land find some way to play that game as soon as you can, because you'll probably love it!

Such a good game, might even be the best Tales! I may have to replay Graces to be sure, but for now I'll go Graces = Berseria > Abyss > Vesperia > Legendia > Zestiria. Symphonia is next but probably not for awhile, planning to do some shorter games for awhile then KH2.8 is next on the RPG list.
