No Way Out 2002

Milwaukee tonight here and JR's hype because

NWO! The POISON HAS ARRIVED AT NWO! Everything's gone black and white.

This Nash guy and Hall guy look like Diesel and Ramon and Hollywood Hulk Hogan is back with his heel tactics.

Hall looks incredibly goofy. Well we're starting with a promo talking about heat. Nash is the one doing the talking actually.

Crowd is chanting a whole lot of what. Their feelings are hurt? Hall's on the mic and the crowd loves him. He says they're not bad guys but marks.

Oh hey Scott Hall says he wants to drink some beers with the boys and Nash goes oh no you don't. Hogan's now got the mic. All this has been going on for what 10 minutes?

"God bless Vince McMahon"

Too Cool Vs. Christian and Lance Storm

The Hip hop Hippo's still dancing around. This is also a #1 contender's match for Mania. Oh this works like a gauntlet match.

Rollup by Scotty on Lance, Albert's in to show off his power. Christian's flying around thanks to a giant swing. Knockdown on Albert. Christian got a headbutt.

Spinning heel kick by Lance Storm and they're ouble teaming him already. Double clothesline knocks out the two canadians. Scotty's in there and he kicks Christian in the face.

Albert's back in and misses a rush, Scotty jumps Christian from behind and the the worm is incoming, Storm interrupts, scotty knocks him out and the Unprettier eliminates Too Cool.

Now who will face them next.

Christian and Lance Storm Vs. The Hardyz

They are back together and beating the holy hell of the canadians, Matt went up top but Lance pulled on the rope.

Kick to the jaw by Storm and the crowd only cares about Lita. Christian is hung on the rope. Jeff with a tag and he's he's gone down low.

Jeff slides and gets caught into a half crab, Matt wants the twist of fate and Christian interrupts, Storm kicks Christian in the face by accident.

Twist of Fate followed by a Swanton.

The Hardyz Vs. The Dudley Boyz

Same old Rivalry, now who's hotter, between Stacy and Lita. Powerslam by Devon Bubba's in there and he's going for a submission! Matt runs in to stop Bubba's submission.

Devon tags in and he knocks down Jeff. Bubba takes a slam and the ref is distracted, Jeff goes low on Bubba, tries the superplex, is pushed off and Bubba jumps!

But he lands wrong! Devon's now in and Matt knocks him down, DDT on Bubba. Kick to Devon and Matt goes for the legdrop. Bubba pulls him off.

Dropkick by Jeff and they snap back Bubba's head. Matt wants a twist of fate. Stacy interferes, Lita spears her, Bubba bomb on Matt. Litarana on Bubba and Jeff goes for an outside Swanton.

Rollup by Matt and they get the win, 3D on the floor! Knocks out Jeff!

The Hardyz Vs. Billy and Chuck

Oh my, they've got quite the advantage here and Billy misses Matt who is fighting them both on his own.

Kick by Chuck and a Fameasser by Billy!

Billy and Chuck Vs. APA

Business has just picked up. Faarooq is manhandling chuck. Bradshaw's chopping and roughing up Chuck. Hell the headband dropped.

Clothesline by Chuck who now that I look at it, is pretty damn big. Fallaway Slam by Bradshaw.

Faarooq is isolated from Bradshaw and the two blondes are stomping on Faarooq. SPINEBUSTER! There's the tag to Bradshaw and Chuck's in trouble.

CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL! Down goes Billy and the APA will be going to Wrestlemania.

Ric Flair's giving a promo to Cole and hey look Undertaker's here to get right in his face.

Goldust Vs. Rob Van Dam

I forgot how long Goldust's full entrance could be. Goldust is going after RVD hard and he takes a spinning heel kick.

RVD's got the most educated feet since X-Pac. Shoulder charges and there's the snapmare, super dramatic legdrop and a lot of flips before the moonsault.

Goldust bails, he needs to regroup, no he's had enough of being kicked in the teeth. Whip and Goldust goes over the barricade and RVD breaks the count.

Goldust has been setup on the barricade and there's a legdrop of the apron. Goldust uses his butt to knock down RVD and turn the momentum around. Uppercuts to the jaw and there's another.

RVD has been place on the turnbuckle and Goldust's now pulling. Catapult and knees to the back and a legdrop. Camel clutch on RVD, Goldust lets it go. RVD going for the backslide and there's another kick.

Both guys are down, but RVD gets back up first. A seres of punches, whip spnning heel kick. RVD off the top turnbuckle, goes for a cover and Goldust kicks out.

Rolling Thunder and again Goldust kicks out. RVD with another flip and he's locked in for a Five Star Frog Splash! MISS! Neckbreaker from Goldust.

He's going for the Curtain Call, another Spnning Heel kick and another kickout! Goldust stomps, he tries a bulldog but gets pushed off. Another kick to the face.

This time the Five Star Frog Splash doesn't miss! RVD wins this one.

Stone Cold Steve Austin's with the nWo, they're offering him a lot of beers and he just throws them away.

CAN YOU DIG IT SUCKA!

WWF TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH:

Booker T and Test vS. Tazz and Spike Dudley (c)

Test goes on Tazz early and starts to stomp on him really quickly. Tazz takes a corner, big clothesline by Tazz.

Spike Dudley with a missile dropkick and Test is going for a powerbomb but Spike stops him. He got the rollup but the ref was distracted by Booker T.

Booker T kicks Spike in the Jaw and Tazz breaks up the pin. Hard Chops by Booker T, loads of clotheslines by Test. Was that a spear attemp by Spike?

Dudley Dog ends up with Spike on the outside getting stomped on. Spike gets his hand on the rope. Scissor Kick, spinaroonie and Tazz breaks up the pin.

DDT! Booker T looks stunned there. Booker T drops out of the ring, Dudley Dog on Test, Booker T pulls him off and Booker T's head hits the post. Tazz is also dazed and the feet are on the rope for the pin.

Ref calls test out on this, shoving match and Test ges shoved into the TAZZMISSION!

The Rock is being interviewed.

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH:

BRASS KNUX ON A POLE MATCH:

Edge Vs. William Regal (c)

Who the hell came up with this stipulation? Edge with a takedown and Regal pulls Edge back. Backdrop and a hard fall by Regal

Quick cover and another kickout. Regal steps on Edge and goes for the knux. Dropkick by Edge and he follows it up with a few punches. Edge is touching those Knux and the two tussle around again.

Edge with a missile dropkick. Punch to the gut and Regal drops Edge on the ropes. Edge sidesteps Regal who falls out of the ring.

Regal pushes Edge and he falls on the barricade. Powerbomb on the outside! Edge is bleeding quite badly from the mouth. Edge was in the Regal stretch but still managed to get to the ropes.

With Edge down Regal's going for the knux up top. Edge pulls the ropes and down goes Regal. He wanted a powerbomb off the apron but both guys fell down. Regal's all the way up again and Edge catches him for a suplex from behind.

The Knux are actually down on the canvas. SPEAR! Edge has the knux and he oh my god! Sucker Punch by Regal! He is still the champ after using a hidden pair of knux.

Lillian's with Angle at the back, like all Angle promos this involves his olympic gold medals.

Video Package for Undertaker against The Rock. Will this new heel Undertaker be able to deliver a great match? Undertaker lost the hardcore title to Maven.

All about respect and a tombstone on top of a car.

Undertaker Vs. The Rock

Rock sprinting to the ring and Undertaker's going for an early chokeslam, Rock's giving him some right hands.

Big boot! More exchanges and Undertaker drops a knee on him. Rock went for a neckbreaker but both men go down.

Undertaker's driving the knee and Rock's still not showing respect. Rock gets hit by the sidewalk slam and Undertaker's going for the pin but Rock kicks out.

We've got more stomping. Rock clotheslnes Undertaker over the top and he's reeling. Undertaker's head bounces off the spanish announce table. The best pure striker's having trouble with the smackdown.

Rock gets dropped on his asset and Undertaker gets to sit down an talk some trash. We now have a spot of crowd surfing! Undertaker's been the slow and methodical wrestler here taking his time with his punches and stomps.

Lawler's trying to remind Taker about the spanish announce table. Cover for Undertaker and Rock still kicks out. Undertaker's getting frustrated.

Here comes the smackdown! DDT by Undertaker catches The Rock off guard. Undertaker's got a temper tantrum going after Rock kicks out again. A big bear hug here has Rock in immense pain.

Rock's hanging in there, ref dropped his arm twice but he got back up before three. Clothesline knocks down Undertaker, this gives The Rock some time to get back on his feet.

Undertaker and Rock are getting into a fistfight and Rock's actually winning! DDT! Rock's back up AND THERE'S A SPINEBUSTER! HE'S ABOUT TO DELIVER THE PEOPLE ELBOW! UNDERTAKER CATCHES HIM FOR A CHOKESLAM! LOW BLOW!

Rock checked Undertaker into the smackdown hotel and then takes a chokeslam! Kickout! Undertaker's sitting on his motorbike and he just shoved a ref into the steps. Oh he was pulling a pipe.

Ric Flair just ran in and he's chopped Undertaker! Shot to the face knocks out Flair. SPINEBUSTER! Rock's going for the Sharpshooter! Vince runs in and Rock's furious and he drags in Vince. Undertaker from behind and Flair nails Undertaker with a pipe!

Rock Bottom!

Reason why Mr. Perfect isn't wrestling say Angle at No Way Out is because he's in New York being Perfect.

Reminder, Triple H has won the Royal Rumble. Angle's not happy about that. The title shot's up for grabs. Stephanie and Triple H are having marital problems.

Oh and she's pregnant. Well actually she's not. They're through! Oh yeah and Angle's going to wrestle Triple H.

SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: Stephanie McMahon

Kurt Angle Vs. Triple H

Stephanie's evil glare is way too over the top, she hammy as hell here. Stephanie's going for really quick counts.

Crowd's supporting Angle? I keep forgetting Angle's in this match. But he's stomping away. Clothesline by Triple H to knock out Angle.

Oh wait they were chanting Take your shirt off all this time! Accident and Angle knocks out the referee. So she's been knocked out and we still don't really have much of a match.

We have three refs coming out, two of them to take care of Stephanie and Timmy White to be the actual ref. As for the match, Triple is beating up Angle a lot.

Angle's finally fighting back with the only thing he has, his suplexes. Triple H kicks out and Ange starts stomping away.

Kick to the face by Triple H and then he gets caught up in another suplex. Kurt Angle with the sleeper hold on Triple H. He's faing away and even drops to a knee!

Triple H with a powerbomb while being practically unconscious. Angle just knocked out the referee again! Angle Slam! Stephanie's running around like crazy and Triple H still kicks out!

Her counts aren't fast due to her now bad shoulder. Straps are down.

Stephanie gets knocked out again, DDT by Triple H and we've got no referees now. There's another suplex and Angle's got the steel chair, doesn't matter there's a pedigree.

Timmy White's counting and Stephanie elbow drops him. Triple H was getting ready to pedigree her. Angle Slam and Kurt Angle has won the match out of nowhere!

Triple H is drooling.

Kurt Angle's driving away. The nWo's with Rock they want a picture for his son. Hey You Chico Razor Ramon! Big Daddy Diesel! Hollywood doesn't look very happy.

Video Package for Austin's quest to get the title back. This isn't one of their better packages fairly generic an repetitive. Also uses porn music.

MAIN EVENT:

WWF UNDISPUTED TITLE MATCH:

Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. Chris Jericho (c)

Big staredown between the two and Jericho gives him the middle finger. Jericho's delivering a few punches. Austin's overwhelming him.

Jericho's using his speed to neutralize Austin but he's been cornered an now Austin's chopping away. Relentless corners by Austin and he's got another knockdown.

Suplexes by Austin, that can't be good for his neck! Austin's chopping some more. Swinging neckbreaker takes out Austin. Chris Jericho knocks him down with an elbow.

Top rope, right hand into the abdomen. More and more chops. Shoulder blocks by Austin and finally Jericho sidesteps Austin and now Jericho's chopping away.

Austin now brutalizing Jericho all over outside the ring, there's no countout. Jericho keeps up the chops. Jericho wanted to go up top and Austin hits the ropes.

This match has featured a lot of chops. Suplex off the top turnbuckle. More chops and turnbuckle hitting. Only three moves are being used in this match.

Jericho shoves the ref around and hits a low blow. Even more chops by Jericho. Followed by guess what a whip into the corner. Jericho attempting to finish this with the walls.

Well we're back to chops and this time we're getting some knees. Elbow by Austin and a cover, Jericho kicks out. Austin got knocked around even more on the outside, but ights back with chops and now Austin gets whiped into the barricade.

He hits the table and Jericho's trying to drive him in there. Jericho tosses Austin back in the ring and we've had so many chops that the crowd stopped yelling woo. Sleeper hold on by Jericho.

I have no idea why they decided to have a puro style match but I'm not complaining. Jericho is about to get put into the walls, but instead we see the catapult.

Quick knee and there's more whips, what the powerslam by Austin! Bulldog takes down Austin. Wow, the Lionsault while Austin's on the other side of the ring. What range and he got it twice!

More chops and this time Austin sidesteps him. Austin going for the Thesz Press, countered into the Walls of Jericho! Austin gets to the ropes and a Mark Eaton's still the timekeeper after all this time?

Jericho's got the belt, it gets dropped, SPINEBUSTER ON THE BELT! Jericho kicked out! stunner! NO! BREAKDOWN ON THE BELT! Austin kicks out. Jericho's looking really strong here and Hebner gets clotheslined! Walls of Austin! Jericho's tapping out while the ref's out.

STUNNER! There's still no referee! HERE COMES THE NWO! Austin's beating up all three members of the NWO! No finally they take him down. The guys in the front row are all in disbelief and have turned stone faced as Jericho retains the titles. Hogan and Austin going at it!

Well its more like Hogan directing traffic. Hogan's got the spray cans. Austin just got branded!

Personally would have chosen The Rock for star of No Way Out, but it's all good.

Anyway, only two championships change between NWO and WrestleMania X8. First, Billy and Chuck defeat Tazz and Spike Dudley to win the Tag Team titles. Then, taking advantage of a hurt Maven, Goldust brings the 24/7 Hardcore rule back into play winning his first Hardcore Championship. Al Snow wins the belt a week before WMX8, but loses it back to Maven the following SmackDown!

Christian gets his first win in months with help of encourager Diamond Dallas Page in a match against Chuck Palumbo. Christian thanks DDP by turning heel merely seconds later and hitting an Unprettier.

Also, just 24 hours after becoming #1 contender, Kurt Angle is forced by Ric Flair to put his title shot on the line against HHH in a match without Stephanie involved. Trips gets the easy win, and the stage is set for Jericho/Hunter! Oh, and something about an epic encounter between Rock and Hogan >_>

Undisputed: Chris Jericho
IC: William Regal
Tag Team: Billy and Chuck
European: Diamond Dallas Page
Hardcore: Maven
Cruiserweight: Tajiri
Women's: Jazz

Can't get myself motivated to watch after Rock vs Hulk.

Neither could anyone else, believe that. The crowd was dead during the women's match (expected, regardless of who's wrestling), and everyone and their brother knew how the main event was going down. Trips/Jericho to this day is one of the weakest buildups to a WM-main event; it even got inducted into Wrestlecrap!

Wrestlemania X-8

Big concert to start this mania. The Titantron's showing off some of the storylines.

Oh we're in Toronto by the way. Concert is followed by a lot of video packages.

ONE OF A KIND!

WWF INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH:

Rob Van Dam Vs. William Regal (c)

JR calls southpaw Regal the greatest counter in the world. RVD with a fast start and some kicks, flips and punches.

The crowd's firmly behind already and Regal the knux from the get go and RVD kicks them out! Van Dam misses a kick, just uses the turnbuckle as a launching bad to knock down Regal.

Five star attempt fails, hard knee by Regal. Backslide by RVD, kickout, Regal with a suplex. Regal is backdropped and RVD kicks him a little bit more.

Suplex by Regal and he's bleeding from the mouth. RVD sure likes to keep people in the mouth. Again RVD kicks his mouth, Rolling Thunder into the knees.

Powerbomb and a kickout. Inside craddle by RVD! Shoulder charges. RVD's got the momentum going and he gets caught in a full nelson and then a German. He's out of the ring.

This was totally worthy of four replays. Regal picks up the knux and the ref takes them away and Regal tries to pull out another pair but RVD knocks him down and delivers the Five Star Frog Splash!

WWF EUROPEAN TITLE MATCH:

Oh my, Christian's from Tampa Florida now. From the Jersey Shore though we got DDP! Christian stomps on him and JR references the fact that DDP drove that Honky Tonk cadillac.

Punches from up top by DDP but a low blow has Page's face hit the turnbuckle. He just dropped to the barricade now. Plenty of right hands from Christian, now plenty by DDP.

Christian pulls in DDP who hits the post. Christian going up top and Page catches him and a powerslam off the top turnbuckle! Clothesline by Page and he's going for a powerbomb here!

Kickout by Christian. Unprettier attempt, almost a Diamond Cutter. COUNTER! DDP KICKS OUT! Christian's on the verge of losing it again.

Inside craddle and another nearfall. DIAMOND CUTTER! DDP retains his European Belt.

Christian loses it in and DDP rubs it in.

Coach is with The Rock and the crowd really loves him now. Rock asks coach if he took his vitamins and said his prayers.

Coach: "Waddup J"

Rock: "WHAT IN THE BLUE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!"

This hyped up the Rock vs Hogan fight a fair bit, but I'm sure they've been hyping it tons already!

WWF HARDCORE TITLE MATCH:

Goldust Vs. Maven (c)

Oh the title's back to being defended 24/7. Goldust has gold trashcans. Maven attacks him before he could even get in the ring. Goldust off the apron! Gold bins getting used.

Kurt Angle Vs. Kane

Angle attacking with the ring bell, more head trauma! Angle's only going for the head. Kane's fighting back.

Kane's still got a lot of strength to lock down on Angle and he's now going for the big chokeslam. Ropebreak.

High impact and Kane's going with more punches. Suplex by Angle. Front facelock by Angle. Kane powers out of it though.

Sidewalk slam and Kurt's hurting. Angle catches Kane from up top. Now he's going up top and he lands into a right hand.

What a powerslam by Kane. Big Chokeslam an KURT GETS HIS HAND ON THE ROPES! KANE KICKS OUT OF THE ANGLE SLAM!

Down come the straps and he's got the Ankle lock on! In the middle of the ring too, Kane kicks out of the lock and Angle locks it right back on.

Shamrock would be proud. Kane gets to the ropes and then strikes back with an Enziguri! Kane goes up top and angle runs right up top with a suplex.

Olympic Slam attempt, countered, Angle gets his eet on the ropes and HE WINS!

Godfather's merchandise is chatting Hurricane's watching.

Video Package for old man Flair getting beaten up and tortured by Undertaker. Oh and Flair's pals are getting destroyed.

Vince is getting a full vote of confidence. Flair looks good in a suit to be honest. Oh and the match will be a no DQ match.

KEEP ROLLIN' ROLLIN' ROLLIN'

Did they edit the theme out on the previous PPVs for the DVDs?

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH:

The Undertaker Vs. Ric Flair

Flair's the aggressive one. Flair's overwhelming The Undertaker right now. Jump from the apron and Undertaker catches him and rams him into the Ringpost.

Flair falls to the ground after taking a savage beating from Undertaker. Hard chops by Flair, he's not done just yet. Undertaker goes for the superplex off the top

Undertaker had the match won and he keeps lifting Flair's shoulder off the canvas. Flair calls him an SOB. Legrdrop on the apron and Flair's hair is more red than blonde.

Again the shoulder's pulled back up. JR mentions he's 9-0 at Wrestlemania. Undertaker misses the legdrop and now he's taking another chop and retaliates with a right hand.

Old School incoming, but Flair jerks him off the ropes! Chops are in there again and a sidewalk slam by Undertaker. This time Flair kicked out. Flair has the pipe! The great equalizer!

CAN YOU DIG IT SUCKA!

Big updates coming, starting with the first ever WWF draft, with Ric Flair taking over Raw and Vince McMahon taking over SmackDown! Vince wins the first pick, and the draft occurs shortly after WM X-8! Here are just the first ten televised picks...

Raw
1) The Undertaker
2) nWo (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, X-Pac)
3) Kane
4) Rob Van Dam
5) Booker T
6) Big Show
7) Bubba Ray Dudley
8) Brock Lesnar
9) William Regal
10) Lita

SmackDown
1) The Rock
2) Kurt Angle
3) Chris Benoit (still out of action)
4) Hulk Hogan
5) Billy and Chuck
6) Edge
7) Rikishi
8) D-Von Dudley
9) Mark Henry
10) Maven

The only other noteworthy picks later on was when Faarooq went to SD, and Bradshaw went to Raw, thus breaking up the APA, and Raw practically got all the small Alliance members without a job (Raven, Steven Richards, Tommy Dreamer, etc.). HHH was allowed to be on both shows as Undisputed Champion, and Steve Austin got to choose the show of his choice, which eventually became Raw.

A few title changes occurred between WMX8 and Backlash, starting with William Regal defeating DDP to win the European Championship, who then lost it a few weeks later (in seconds) to Spike Dudley. The Cruiserweight title changed hands as Billy Kidman got a huge win over Tajiri.

Finally, the Hardcore title kicked into high gear, as the belt changed hands in this order between X8 and Backlash...

Maven - Raven - Bubba Ray Dudley - Regal - Goldust - Raven - Bubba - Regal - Spike - Goldust - Bubba - Regal - Spike - Goldust - Bubba - Raven - Tommy Dreamer - Steven Richards - Bubba - Goldust - Raven - Hardcore Holly - Goldust - Raven - Bubba

Champions
Undisputed: Triple H
Intercontinental: Rob Van Dam
Tag Team: Billy and Chuck
European: Spike Dudley
Hardcore: Bubba Ray Dudley
Cruiserweight: Billy Kidman
Women's: Jazz

And the Attitude-Era WWF title and WCW World title were both retired, and the Undisputed Championship became one belt.

Also of note, only the Undisputed Champion and the Women's Champion were cross-brand titles.

The IC Title and European Title became Raw exclusive, and the Tag Team Titles and Cruiserweight Title now belonged to SmackDown.

(Technically the Hardcore Title was now a Raw title as well, but with 24/7 rules I never really understood why that distinction was made)

Few other tidbits...

Raw and SmackDown also both got B-shows in the mix as well, as Heat became Raw exclusive, while Velocity became SmackDown exclusive.

One superstar making a big return at this time was Eddie Guerrero. He was written off via injury by Albert and sent to rehab in Summer 2001. After being arrested for drunk driving, Eddie was released by WWF in November that year. He competed in the independent circuit for about 2 months before being rehired by the WWF. Eddie returned in April 2002 and began feuding with Rob Van Dam.

The only superstar in the entire draft that made zero appearances after said draft was the final pick, Perry Saturn, partially because of his torn ACL in April 2002. He was sidelined and eventually released before the year ended.

Another team that split up due to the draft was The Hurricane and Mighty Molly; Helms went to SmackDown, while Molly was drafted to Raw, where she would soon ditch her super heroine gimmick.

Brock Lesnar made a commanding debut, interfering in a hardcore title match between Maven and Al Snow the night after WrestleMania. Instead of joining in the carnage and winning the title, however, Lesnar decided to demolish everyone in the ring with hardly any effort. Get ready for the best two-year career ever, and it starts at Backlash! >_>

With Hogan's unexpected face turn at WrestleMania, the nWo was basically Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. On top of that, Nash injured a bicep during a match with The Rock after WrestleMania. So when Hogan and Rock seemed to have the upper hand, X-Pac makes his first appearance since last Fall and joins the nWo. Rock would only appear for the first SD after the draft to convince the fans and the staff to make Hogan the #1 contender, and defeat Chris Jericho 1-on-1. He would then be gone for three months (minus a surprise appearance in June).

Finally, Mark Henry's latest attempt at being important was basically a face doing tons of strongman stuff, displaying his superhuman strength. As you will see over the next few ppvs, this will not be relevant at all.

Not that this makes any difference to voltch, but IIRC Jakked was SmackDown's B-show until mid-May, when it was then replaced by Velocity.

Which is probably the most relevant Jakked ever was, in its final month+ of existence.

Okay finally moving forward again.

Vengeance 2001

How many PPVs have intros with sepia-toned footage of Freddie Blassie. Looks like the theme tonight is finding an undisputed champ.

Vince is here, fans have finally started shouting "WHAT" to people. Vince got a Rikishi stinkface, where's Rikishi been lately anyway.

Oh here's Ric Flair, been a while since he's been in the WWF. WOOOO.

TURN IT UP

Wait why is Albert with Scotty what is this

Scotty 2 Hotty & Albert vs. Test & Christian

"The hip hop hippo" what. We've also get at least another year of Test. Him and Christian are using heel tactics to keep Scotty in the ring.

Superkick from Scotty, Albert is tagged in. Christian gets swung around a bunch. Albert's dancing like he's Road Dogg.

Scotty wants a worm, but Christian is gonna do it. No, Albert with a big boot, it's ducked. Test hits a big boot. Test is knocked down, here comes the worm! Christian wants an unprettier but he's power bombed, Albert pins him.

Oh it's called the baldo bomb? Okay sure. That match was kind of a waste of Christian, I'm sure we'll be able to fill that space later with a diva's match instead.

Edge vs. William Regal

They're hyping Regal as a devious heel based on recent actions. Also he kissed a butt.

Regal hasn't been too bad yet, now he's grabbing hair and kneeing Edge's head.

Edge fighting back with a neckbreaker. Hurricanrana from off the corner. Edge does a nice bridge cover now, two count.

A spear misses and hits the stairs. Regal finds some brass knuckles too. He takes long enough, and now Edge can still kick out of things. Regal's hitting a bunch of double underhook power bombs.

Regal tries to distract the ref and get brass knuckles, Edge gets in a spear though and wins.

I just noticed the logo for this PPV is a sledgehammer, wonder if that will come into play later.

Angle won a gold medal and Flair hasn't. Angle seems real angry and Flair's like "okay sure".

Lita's gonna be a ref or something. Oh, the Hardys are gonna fight each other and Matt wants her support.

Hardys are best of friends. Oh but Matt was mad about their cage match at Survivor Series.

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

Everyone comes out to the same song.

Matt with some early taunts to show he's more of a heel in this duo. Not much high flying action yet, just some holds and slams and chops and WOOOO.

Missed leg drop from Matt, but Jeff hits one. Jeff runs up the ropes and gets pushed off, Lita steps in for a rope break and Matt is angry. Matt goes for a sunset flip but gets hurricanranad.

Jeff flips into the ring and hurts his leg somehow. Matt's going right for that leg and doing the old Jeff Jarrett taunt of pointing at the brain.

Whoops, Jeff can't flip over the rope with a hurt leg. Well, he can do enzuigiri kicks with only one good leg. Both guys try the twist of fate, neither can get it. Matt's using the ropes for leverage during a cover and Lita won't count.

What is Matt going for, a twist of fate on the top corner? Well it's stopped and Jeff hits the swanton. Matt's foot goes on the rope, Lita doesn't see it.

Trish Stratus has the hots for Rock. Rock is quite the womanizer.

Oh good now I can hear Lawler talk about Stacy Keibler.

And uh who's Big Show's random partner today. Oh, of course, it's the other guy who partners with everyone.

Dudley Boyz vs. Big Show & Kane

Charles Robinson is wearing that WWF uniform now, looks weird.

Big guys are dominating from the start. D-Von doesn't want to tag in. Everyone's in the ring pretty quick, Dudleys getting splashed left and right.

Kane goes to the top and leaps to the outside! Big Show finds Stacy and pulls her skirt down? What? And he spanks her, Lawler must be super jealous. Who booked this.

Somehow this opens up the Dudleys to do a wassup on Kane. 3D coming, nope, Kane with a big boot. Kane's in to help Big Show, they collide by mistake. Big Show is mad.

Bubba ducks and Big Show collides with Kane again. Exposed turnbuckle, 3D onto it and they pin Big Show.

Lita's sorry and Matt doesn't respond. DRAMA.

Undertaker's kissed a lot of asses? Oh, he turned on JR of all people. He wants respect and he's going after RVD.

Hardcore match: Undertaker vs. Rob Van Dam

Fans are going with the RVD chant. RVD's trying to pound away quickly, flying off the top with a flip. Taker's thrown out a couple big boots already too.

Out to the crowd they go. There's a bunch of guys with a Mexican flag, Taker steals it to choke RVD. RVD with a moonsault in the crowd! A steel barricade falls on RVD's face and Taker walks right over it.

RVD with a fire extinguisher and trash can and he's climbing the stairs. He dives over the railing, luckily it looks like there was a padded landing area where he goes.

They're in behind the titantron now, and back to the entranceway. RVD's getting those two counts. Taker wants a last ride on the steel floor here, RVD goes up and grabs the set to escape. Rolling thunder and he gets a chair. Van daminator! Taker's still kicking out.

Another van daminator attempt misses, now Taker has a chair as a weapon. Van daminator misses again, Taker chokeslams RVD off the set and through some tables! Taker climbs down and wins the hardcore belt.

Jericho wants to prove to Flair he can win. Flair once again doesn't care who does.

Trish Stratus vs. Jacqueline

The fans want puppies more than anything in this match. Jacqueline with some kicks and bodyslams, and whoa she grabs a kick and does a takedown, more wrestling than expected here.

Trish botches a bridge cover. She goes for stratusfaction but can't get it. Trish goes for a backslide, somehow it's a three count. They shake hands after.

Why was kissing butts such a huge storyline the past month. I can't follow how this even started.

I guess we're all forgetting that Rikishi supposedly tried to run someone over with a car. Oh, and Rikishi is stuck in New York.

Finally they explain that we get kind of a mini-tournament for the main event.

Wait is Austin more face than Angle is now.

Kurt Angle vs. Steve Austin

Things start off cautiously. Austin starts brawling and Angle bails. Angle with a suplex and Austin bails.

WOOOO WOOOO lots of chops in this match. Lawler's had enough Ric Flair stuff.

Angle gets on an ankle lock, Austin can't get those ropes! Oh, he finally does. Angle's got Austin around the ring post now, he puts on the figure four around the post! Haven't seen that since Bret Hart days.

Suplex trio from Angle and he wants a moonsault. It misses, he's not very good at connecting moonsaults. Austin's got a Thesz press finally.

Austin is hitting a set of suplexes now and Angle gets in an olympic slam. Only a two count. Austin with a stunner and he wins.

Test wants to hit on Trish. He's not so good with the ladies.

The Rock vs. Chris Jericho

Spinning heel kicks from both guys and lots of hip tosses. Jericho's the only guy of the four who's never won one of the big titles.

Jericho's got this red streak in his hair, he looks like Tatanka. Must be celebrating his Canadian Lumbee heritage.

Here's some taunting covers from Jericho and fans get the "ROCKY" chants going. Here's some Y2J chants, not nearly as loud though. Rock hits a samoan drop and gets some momentum back.

Long sleeper hold. Jericho escapes the smackdown to hit a bulldog, and he hits the lionsault! Two count on Rock. Jericho wants to argue with Hebner now, that will never work.

Crossbody almost results in a Jericho loss. Now he goes for a dive in the corner and Rock tosses him out of the ring. Jericho clears a table, hey, that's not the spanish table! He wants to rock bottom Rock, but Rock DDTs Jericho through the table! Lots of the ringside fans are swearing and it's all being picked up.

Back in the ring, Jericho works his way out of a sure rock bottom. Jericho wants to do a people's elbow but Rock grabs him with a sharpshooter! Jericho rolls and puts the sharpshooter on Rock!

After a long long time, Rock finally gets the ropes. He tries a small package! Jericho's out, and there's a rock bottom! Oh no, out runs Vince, he's talking to Hebner while Rock has a cover.

Spinebuster! People's elbow coming and Vince is in the way again. People's elbow on Jericho anyway, but he hits Rock with a low blow and rock bottoms Rock! Jericho wins!

And Austin's music immediately plays!

Chris Jericho vs. Steve Austin

Angle runs out and hits Austin with a chair already, the bell hasn't even rung yet, so I guess there's no DQ. Rock gives Jericho a rock bottom too, and I guess Rock and Angle head backstage to fight?

Jericho's up first and he almost gets a 3 count before Austin's up. JR and Lawler think this would've been the fastest championship match ever. I dunno though, it would have some fierce competition with Hogan/Yokozuna or Hogan laying down.

Austin's in the corner and Jericho's kicking away and a very loud "**** you Austin" is picked up from Jericho. Stunner try but it doesn't work.

They're outside and there are tons of chops. Jericho goes into the ringpost a couple times. Now the pads on the floor are pulled away.

Jericho wants to suplex Austin off the table onto the exposed floor but Austin fights out and knocks off Jericho. And Austin hits the suplex onto the concrete!

Here's an armbar from Jericho and he's using the ropes for leverage. He climbs to the corner and leaps into a punch. But Jericho gets a surprise rollup into the walls of Jericho! Austin's by the rope though.

Ref bump and Hebner's down. Jericho gets a low blow and a stunner on Austin.

Vince comes out with Nick Patrick, he wants Jericho to win. Ric Flair runs out to stop them and takes out Patrick but not Vince. Austin goes to beat up Vince now.

Thesz press on Jericho, and Austin puts on the walls! Jericho is tapping, there's no ref around though.

Out runs Booker T! (who has been sadly absent from this PPV) He nails Austin with a belt. Booker T doesn't work here? Oh, guess he's technically not with WWF right now, that's why he's not fighting.

Hebner's back in, Jericho gets the cover on the out Austin and he's got all the gold. It's too bad Vince stuck himself right in another storyline. Confetti falls and Austin is covered in it.

Star of the PPV: Chris Jericho

Botch of the PPV: Pretty much anything from that diva's match, holy crap. Trish's attempted bridge stands out as completely bad.

Oh, also, guess I should figure out the wrestler of the year. HHH was off to a good start but then missed half the year. Rock missed the first half and RVD doesn't show up until halfway through as well. Benoit had a good start and got hurt too. Edge had some shining moments with WMX7 and KotR, and Jericho had a few good moments, but came on real strong late in the year. It pretty much leaves Austin and Angle as the choices.

2001 WWF PPV Star of the year: Steve Austin

watched half of Backlash, a #1 contender's match is coming up.

Undercard has to this point been pretty enjoyable.

Sadly, the #1 contender's match is probably the worst match of the evening (or the worst match between those two). Either that or the main event. The rest of the card IS indeed good though, I'll agree there.

WWF WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH:

Trish Stratus Vs. Jazz (c)

Well Molly just came out and took the mic. Cheap shot by Molly on Trish with the mic and Trish fights back but Molly's persistent.

Jazz shoves Trish into the ring. Quick pin and Trish kicks out. Leapfrog by Jazz and Trish is giving out the forearms. Kick to the head.

Pinning attempt and kickout, they start brawling up top. Action moves back to the ring and Jazz goes for a powerbomb! Trish kicks out!

Jazz getting frustrated, she's been unable to do anything. Trish is getting stomped on the throat. STRATUSFACTION COUNTERED INTO A SIDEWALK SLAM!

Again there's a kickout. Boston Crab and Trish is trying to get to the ropes! Jazz going for the submission and she pulls out the win!
