The next night on Raw, Bischoff held a match between Triple H and Undertaker to determine the next #1 Contender to the Undisputed TItle. Triple H won, but the show closed with a monumental announcement: Brock Lesnar has signed exclusively with SmackDown and he is taking the Undisputed Title brand-exclusive!

I'm still not really sure how Steph had the authority to do that.

Anyway, that week on SD, Undertaker also made the leap to the blue brand on the final night of open contracts to go where the title is. He has never officially left the SmackDown roster since that day.

The next week on Raw, Bischoff was determined to not be a brand without a title, so he brought back the Big Gold Belt and declared Triple H the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion by virtue of being the #1 Contender to the Undisputed Title (which was thusly renamed the WWE Championship since it was now disputed).

Also during this period, there was a title unification match between Intercontinental Champion Rob Van Dam and Hardcore Champion Tommy Dreamer. Much like what happened with the European Title, RVD won and is recognized as the final Hardcore Champion. The title was then deactivated.

On a later episode of Raw, Chris Jericho defeated RVD to become only the second-ever 5-time Intercontinental Champion.

Also during this period, the Women's Championship became exclusive to Raw. I think. I don't remember the exact date and neither does Wikipedia, but it makes sense that it would happen alongside the Undisputed Title going single-brand.

World Heavyweight Champion: Triple H
Tag Team Champions: Lance Storm/Christian
Intercontinental Champion: Chris Jericho
Women's Champion: Molly Holly

WWE Champion: Brock Lesnar
Cruiserweight Champion: Jamie Noble

In other big storyline news, Billy and Chuck were set to be wed on SmackDown, but Eric Bischoff attacked with his new tag team 3 Minute Warning and revealed their entire relationship as a publicity stunt. Rico sold them out.

In response to this, their characters were turned hyper-straight. <_<

No debuts in this time period, but a few departees and shifts...

To SmackDown: Undertaker and Matt Hardy
To Raw: Rico, who joins 3 Minute Warning

Alignment shifts: Matt Hardy turns heel and ditches his brother to go to SmackDown.

Future endeavored: Shawn Stasiak gets the boot here, and after jobbing on Velocity for a few months, Mike Awesome also gets released. Mike Awesome declared getting released was a huge sigh of relief and hated the time spent in WWE.

No major injuries at the time.

I'm still trying to keep up but it almost seems like a lost cause to keep pace these days.

Wrestlemania X8

What is this opening why am I watching a concert. Yeah I'm skipping through this.

Good promo highlighting past Wrestlemania events as usual. Oh my god so many floor seats here, this must be a terrible view for so many.

Rob Van Dam vs. William Regal

Oh hey Regal isn't facing Edge again and RVD gets a chance at a belt.

RVD is hyping up this crowd early with his quick moves. "RVD" chants are going. Regal pulls out some brass knuckles already, RVD just kicks them away.

Five star frog splash misses and Regal's in control. Regal gets a nice neckbreaker in.

Rolling thunder doesn't hit either as Regal uses his knees. Lots of pinfall attempts and oh, Regal stops to wave to the crowd.

Regal gets in a suplex that ends up with RVD landing on his head, his mouth is bleeding after that. Oh, Regal goes and retrieves his brass knuckles. The ref sees and takes them. Regal's got a second pair but those are kicked away too.

Five star frog splash now, RVD wins the intercontinental belt. Good enough opener.

Christian really wants to mock DDP. He dumped DDP like he dumped Toronto.

Christian vs. DDP

Why is DDP wrestling with the vest on oh wait there it goes.

Christian's mocking DDP's diamond hand sign and this gives DDP some new energy. DDP gets pulled into the ring post though.

DDP with a bunch of clotheslines and punches and lariats and this time he fakes it. Christian ducks and gets caught in a powerbomb. He can't get the diamond cutter and Christian hits an unprettier. DDP kicks out?!

Now DDP gets the diamond cutter and he gets the cover. There was some hesitation between these two a bunch, need more time together.

DDP wants to congratulate Christian for controlling his temper. This makes Christian angry. DDP leaves through the crowd for some reason.

Rock has come back to Toronto, fans here love him. Rock mocks Coach, these are always the best parts of Rock's interviews. "What up G" Rock thinks Coach's prayers make him a sick freak. Rock calls out Hogan and then rips his shirt.

Another belt up for grabs? A BELT UP FOR GRABS IN EVERY MATCH.

Hardcore match: Goldust vs. Maven

Goldust pulls stuff out from under the ring before Maven even comes out.

Maven's attacked outside the ring and he's trying to sell everything he can. He tosses Goldust a garbage can and dropkicks it, I guess it kind of got Goldust or something.

Both guys get garbage can lids and knock each other out. Spike Dudley runs out and pins Maven to win the belt?

OH GOD HERE'S CRASH! He chases Spike into the crowd! Yes! Guess Spike gets to remain champ for today.

What is this we get another concert performance. "To tell the story of tonight's championship match"? Drowning Pool's singer shouts "I can't hear you!" at the end of the song and the dead crowd responds with a smattering of cheers.

Crash and Spike are still fighting backstage! Here comes Al Snow on a golf cart!

Hurricane swings in on a rope! Where is the rope from? He gets a pin on Spike and wins the hardcore belt! WHOOOSH he flies away YESSSSS.

The fans tell Kurt Angle he sucks and Angle calls the Canadian olympic figure skating medalists pathetic.

Kurt Angle vs. Kane

Angle gets in a shot using the ring bell before the bell even rings. Angle suplexes Kane like it's nothing.

Kane tries his own suplex after taking some more and Angle gets out. Trio of suplexes and man he looks like he's starting to struggle with those german suplexes on the big guy. Angle gets a clothesline from the top like Kane can sometimes do. Second try at it fails.

Here's an opening for Kane to hit all his moves. Big boot, sidewalk slam, splash in the corner, chokeslam. Angle gets the ropes during the cover.

Angle tries to pull Kane's mask off and gets the olympic slam! Kane somehow kicks out of that cover. He can't lose that mask, his face must be so horribly disfigured.

Ankle lock is on, Kane pulls himself to the ropes and up, he gets an enzuigiri on Angle.

Olympic slam coming, Kane moves and tries a tombstone, Angle with a rollup. His feet are on the ropes after some awkward transition move and he gets the pin.

Hurricane is wandering around with the hardcore belt. He hears people and goes into hiding. It's a bunch of girls, are they Godfather's ho's? Hurricane's holding a broom and oh man is he holding that in the wrong way.

Undertaker has another WCW guy to bury tonight. It's Ric Flair. And oh yeah it's Wrestlemania. Knowing the streak makes these matches a little less entertaining. <_<

He wanted a match with Flair and beat up Flair's son and Arn Anderson. Flair lost his booking power for now because of this match.

No disqualification: Undertaker vs. Ric Flair

They both tumble over the announce table and Ric Flair is punching away. I think the first 20-30 attacks in this match are all punches.

Some fan is trying to hard to sell for Flair. Flair goes into the stairs and he yells "Man that's gotta hurt!" Ha.

Flair takes a big boot on the apron and ends up on the floor. Is Taker's cheek bleeding? I think so. Taker with a bunch of punches and Flair is busted open. He's always busted open.

Taker's going to work here, getting in all the attacks. Superplex off the top corner! Taker lifts up his cover at the two count just to do more damage.

Again Taker lifts up a cover. Flair's fighting back with some chops. WOOOO. Flair gets the lead pipe and knocks down Undertaker with it. A couple more shots and away goes the pipe.

Flair walks into a choke, but he kicks a low blow. Figure four leg lock! Taker just forces his way out and gets a chokeslam.

Undertaker is mad and he just knocks out the ref, Charles Robinson. Arn Anderson is here and he gives Taker a spinebuster! Taker kicks out though.

Taker is going after Anderson, Flair's got a chair and gives Taker a few shots with it. Taker gets a big boot and Flair won't go up for the last ride. So Taker does a tombstone and Flair is out.

Ha, Taker's music started before the three count even came. Jumping the gun a bit there.

Edge has taken Booker T's intelligence into question. But Booker T is wearing glasses! He must be smart. He even had a high school thesis.

CAN YOU DIG IT SUCKA

Booker T vs. Edge

There's a sign in the crowd. "They are fighting over shampoo." haha yes

Booker T with a nice standing roundhouse kick, he ends up stepping on Edge's face on the follow through.

Missile dropkick from Booker T. He's getting in all the early offense.

Hurricanrana from Edge, oh man Booker T does not flip and that fall looks bad.

Scissor kick misses and Edge tries a cover. Edge with his own top rope kick now. Booker T leaps in the corner and turns it into a rollup, Edge coutners into a slingshot.

Booker T with a superkick and here comes the spinaroonie! Scissor kick!

Bookend is broken out of and here's a spear. Only a two count. Edge wants to do a spinaroonie! It looked terrible. Two missed kicks from Booker T and Edge with an Edgecution and he gets the pin. This was a fun match, these guys should get pushes.

Hurricane gives an interview and Mighty Molly is with him. She hits him with a frying pan and steals his belt with a pin! What!

Austin picked Scott Hall as his nWo guy to feud with. Spray painted 3:16 on the back.

Hall's got Nash with him at ringside.

Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall

Austin hits his Thesz press and gets Hall caught in the corner and Hall ducks out of the ring. Austin runs out to attack both Nash and Hall.

Nash takes off a turnbuckle cover, Austin goes right into it. Hall's going to work, there's that fallaway slam I haven't seen in forever. Nash is getting in some cheap shots now.

Random stunner from Austin, Nash punches the ref out. And now Nash is attacking Austin.

Austin fights out and hits stunners on both guys, still no ref around. And here comes Jack Doan with the slide of the century!

Nash takes out this ref too. Here comes a whole flock of refs to get Nash out of here. Austin wants another stunner, Hall pushes Austin into the exposed corner and hits a stunner on Austin. Austin kicks out!

Now the situation is reversed, Hall to the corner, Austin with two stunners and Austin wins. Amazing sell from Hall, he jumped five feet into the air, ha.

Fans are at the fan event. Booker T is mad he's not in the latest video game.

Why do Dudley Boyz have this awful new theme music being played live?

This Billy and Chuck theme song sure is something.

Four corners match: Dudley Boyz vs. APA vs. Hardy Boyz vs. Billy & Chuck

Billy and Chuck are trying to double team Bradshaw a bunch, looks like them vs APA is our early match pairing.

Dudleys are in now, Bradshaw gives the clothesline from hell but then takes a 3D. Dudleys pin Bradshaw and he's out.

Chuck sells a double DDT in ridiculous fashion, doing a headstand. Hardys go after the Dudleys, Stacy tries to distract Jeff with her rear.

Jeff takes a big boot from D-Von as Billy is getting all the time in the world to catch his breath. Suplex, and Jeff is caught in the corner. Now a DDT gets reversed and Jeff with a DDT and Matt's in.

Bubba misses the senton, but now the wassup is set up. But Billy stops it and throws D-Von through a table. Swanton, Bubba is pinned!

Hardys hitting all their moves, twist of fate and swanton on Chuck. Billy runs in with a fameasser though, Chuck only gets a two count.

Billy runs in with the belt and knocks out Jeff, Chuck gets the pin this time and the champs keep their titles.

nWo is mad and they want to take it out on the Rock. But here's Hogan, he doesn't want any help in his match, he's going solo.

Christian slams a door on Molly's face, he's the hardcore champ now.

Hogan was the biggest icon and star. Did the people turn on him? Rock thinks the people want to see him headline one more Wrestlemania. Hogan doesn't seem to be a sneaky villain like the rest of the nWo, but still working with his WWF face status in some way.

I should comment here on how ridiculous Hollywood Hogan's beard looks.

Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock

Crowd is going nuts chanting for both Hogan and Rock. Here's a classic staredown.

Hogan with the first knockdown, crowd is going nuts for Hogan moreso now.

Rock with a clothesline, there goes the bandana and there's some boos. Smackdown time and Hogan can't fly over the top rope so he rolls out.

Hogan's trying for pins in between moves, can't keep Rock down. Hogan's biting Rock, what dirty tactics. Rock turns around with a bunch of chops, there's more boos than WOOOs.

Outside, Rock wants a chair shot but the ref stops him and Hogan gets the knockdown.

Oh no, ref bump as Hogan tosses Rock. Rock with a spinebuster, now he gets on the sharpshooter! Hogan gets the ropes but there's no ref. Hogan's tapping now. Low blow by Hogan and he gives Rock a rock bottom! Ref's up! Two count.

Hogan's got his belt and whipping Rock as the ref is back down. Rock with a DDT and he's using the belt now.

Rock bottom on Hogan and Hogan kicks out and he wants to hulk up. There's the point, three punches, big boot and the leg drop. Rock kicks out!

Hogan goes for another big boot and leg drop, this leg drop misses. Rock bottom on Hogan again. And another rock bottom. Rock nips up, here comes the people's elbow. Three count, Rock gets the pin.

After the match we get another staredown, Hogan wants a handshake and that's what they do.

Oh here's the nWo, they don't like the handshake, Hall and Nash turn on Hogan. Rock runs back out to save Hogan.

This celebration goes on for a while, Rock wants Hogan to do his standard Hogan celebrating. Rock's having fun.

Big Show is stuck in New York for this PPV.

Poor Jazz has to come out first with the belt. Oh, that's because Trish is the hometown favorite.

Triple threat: Jazz vs. Lita vs. Trish Stratus

Jazz is getting double teamed because she's a heel. Oh, now Jazz is taking on both at once and is pretty strong.

Trish, who was out of the ring for a few minutes, is trying to rollup cover everyone now. Every cover getting broken up by a third person. Lita and Trish are going at it together now.

Jazz takes a random twist of fate and what is Lita doing. Trish and Lita keep going at it until Jazz gets up then knocking her down. Trish with some awkward sells of moves. Jazz superplexes Lita from the top and she gets the pin to win.

Maven attacks Christian in the parking lot and wins back the hardcore title.

What is this, there's no hype video or anything right before the main event? And god dammit, we get another live music performance.

Triple H vs. Chris Jericho

Oh, Triple H has a hurt left leg coming in. I wonder how that happened.

Leaping knee and Triple H's leg is hurting. He shoves Jericho outside, and the spanish table is already cleared off. No table action though, Triple H starts trying to hurt Jericho's leg too.

Figure four from Triple H, Stephanie walks up and breaks this though. Jericho tries a spear and hits Stephanie, Triple H wants to give her a pedigree but can't.

Stephanie is getting in some cheap shots here and there. Jericho puts the figure on Triple H around the post, he's not quite as good at it as Bret was.

A series of reversal whips sends Triple H outside the ring. Jericho's trying to do the walls of Jericho on the table. Triple H fights out, but he takes a back body drop through the spanish table. Back in the ring for a lionsault and it's a two count.

Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring. Jericho's got a bloody mouth, and Triple H isn't tapping, he finally hits the ropes.

Jericho's mad, he's got a chair. Triple H counters and DDTs Jericho on the chair. Stephanie wants the chair and Hebner sees her with it. Triple H gives her a pedigree. He turns and takes a chair to the face, still only a two count.

Now Jericho wants a pedigree, he can't get it. Triple H gives him one and he gets the pin. The Game is the champ.

Star of the PPV: Hulk Hogan

Botch of the PPV: Maven dropkicked a garbage can Goldust was holding but kind of missed and Goldust kind of tossed it aside then fell.

After Unforgiven, Kane went on a tear. The next night on Raw, he and The Hurricane defeated the Un-Americans for the Tag Team Titles, and then the following week he defeated Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title, and then after that he singlehandedly won TLC IV against 3 other tag teams on Raw. Kane was on a roll!

Bischoff continued in his title unification madness, and booked a match for No Mercy wherein the Intercontinental Title would be absorbed into the World Heavyweight Title. Kane now had a chance to briefly hold all 3!

But then Triple H would tear his world apart, by revealing a dark secret from Kane's past...

There was a girl Kane liked in college but who just wanted to be friends. One night they were driving home from a party, when the car crashed into a tree, and the girl, named Katie Vick, died on impact. But the autopsy revealed that she had recently had sex with Kane! Triple H revealed that Kane violated her dead body!

He even went so far as to re-enact it in a "classic" sketch. <_<

Kane was distraught, and he and Hurricane would lose the Tag Team Titles to Christian and Chris Jericho (I suppose the Un-Americans must have disbanded). This made Christian a 9-time Tag Team Champion, second only to Billy Gunn!

Over on SmackDown, Stephanie McMahon decided that she wanted her own set of Tag Team Titles, so the tournament to crown the first ever WWE Tag Team Champions was held. The final two teams are set to meet at No Mercy: Chris Benoit/Kurt Angle vs. Edge/Rey Mysterio. The Tag Titles on Raw are referred to as the World Tag Team Titles from here onward.

World Heavyweight Champion: Triple H
World Tag Team Champions: Chris Jericho/Christian
Intercontinental Champion: Kane
Women's Champion: Trish Stratus

WWE Champion: Brock Lesnar
Cruiserweight Champion: Jamie Noble

(I suppose the Un-Americans must have disbanded)

You guessed correctly, and this is where I come in!

The UnAmericans disbanded shortly after losing the tag titles to HurriKane. Lance Storm and William Regal continued working together with their UnAmerican-like methods. Christian began teaming with Chris Jericho. Finally, Test turned face, cut his hair, and picked up Stacy Keibler as his manager/girlfriend. (Ironically, Lance Storm said on his website once when Test was asked to cut his hair for the UnAmericans, he basically told creative to **** off)

Recent additions to Brock Lesnar's kill list between SummerSlam and No Mercy: Randy Orton, Hardcore Holly, John Cena, and Chuck Palumbo.

Face turns: Test
Heel turns: Ric Flair, John Cena, and Ron Simmons (who began a very short-lived tag team with Reverend D-Von)

Only two brand shifts this time. First, Randy Orton traveled over to Raw. SmackDown got Crash Holly in return. Despite Orton's injury, Raw still got the better end of the deal, courtesy of RNN! (Randy News Network)

Sent to injured reserve: Randy Orton (shoulder injury, out until early 2003) and Hardcore Holly (neck injury by Brock Lesnar, out until November 2003)

I almost need to start my own topic for these so I can get some discussion going, rather than reading discussions from weeks ago.

Backlash 2002

Hulk Hogan is back to being classic Hulk Hogan. Triple H gets to put his belt on the line against Hogan.

Torrie Wilson is with Tajiri now? She looks super awkward here.

Tajiri vs. Billy Kidman

Lots of reversals early on, Kidman gets a hurricanrana to send Tajiri outside. Ooh, Tajiri stands outside and kicks Kidman who's in the ring, nice reach.

Backbreaker around the ringpost, that's something I've never seen before. Almost a tarantula, but Kidman pushes out. Sunset flip setup turned around and now he gets the tarantula!

Springboard flip into a dropkick! Tajiri with a suplex and bridge and flip into a different bridge. Kidman's kicking out.

Here comes the shooting star press, Tajiri moves. Kick to the face, Kidman kicks out again. Powerbomb, Tajiri kicks out this time. Another powerbomb but Kidman gets sprayed in the face, Tajiri with the pin.

Michael Cole wants to interview Tajiri for some reason, so Tajiri speaks in Japanese.

Oh hey here's Bradshaw and Ron Simmons, they're not using the Faarooq name here.

"X-Pac still sucks" sign in the crowd. Kevin Nash is suspended for some reason. X-Pac is wearing Kane's mask for some reason.

Scott Hall vs. Bradshaw

I hope we see some fallaway slam wars here.

X-Pac is trying to get involved, here's that APA music and Faarooq comes out to neutralize X-Pac.

"APA" chants from the crowd. Bradshaw with a few shots and then they're saying "X-Pac sucks". Hall rolls out of the ring and right into Faarooq.

Hall is working away with soem open-handed slaps. Bradshaw punches back, clothesline from hell! Cover, X-pac puts Hall's foot on the rope.

X-pac getting destroyed by both APA guys, Hall hits a low blow and pins Bradshaw. Aw, no fallaway slams at all?

Vince is telling Ric Flair how terrible employees are. crowd is going "WOOOO"

Trish Stratus vs. Jazz

Molly comes out instead of Jazz? She looks way different now for some reason. She comes out to beat up Trish. Oh, and out comes Jazz.

Trish is getting in more offense here, she gets a hurricanrana off the corner and a few clotheslines. Jazz hits a powerbomb though.

Stratusfaction gets caught, Jazz with a slam. Boston crab, Jazz turns it to an STF. Trish can't handle the submission moves, she taps out.

Here's another post-match interview, who's this guy? Jazz doesn't even answer him, these interviews are going fantastically.

Paul Heyman got into Lita's underwear. What is this part of the angle for again. Brock Lesnar has been destroying Matt Hardy lately. Oh, he hasn't even had an official match yet.

Jeff Hardy vs. Brock Lesnar

Lesnar doesn't climb up the ring apron, he keeps jumping onto it. He's suplexing Jeff and Jeff's flying through the air.

Jeff going for some desperate flying kicks, Lesnar is down. Swanton, but Lesnar kicks out.

Outside Jeff grabs a chair but he's caught, Lesnar with his finisher, the F5 but it doesn't have a name yet. Three powerbombs after this, and the ref calls the match after this. Lesnar too strong to even have to pin.

Edge recently got a huge upset on Angle. Edge calls back to those days when he and Angle were "friends". Haha, Edge is great with his insults.

Oh man Edge is back to his old theme. Thank god.

Kurt Angle vs. Edge

"Angle sucks" chants going right away, those fans are gonna tell him he sucks as much as they can.

A few chops from both gets some WOOOOOs. Angle keeps going for those suplexes. Here's a headlock resthold so we can get more suplexes. And Edge even uses one too.

Edge sets up for a suplex again, no, he drops Angle on his face and a two count. And once more. Almost an ankle lock, instead we get a trio of suplexes.

Another suplex try by Edge, this one did not look good. Angle lands right on his head.

Both guys try going for finishers, finally an olympic slam. Edge kicks out of it. Ankle lock and Edge rolls over into a rollup! Two count though.

Angle gets a chair, he somehow hits himself in the face. Edge with the cover and Angle kicks out?! Spear coming, Angle kicks Edge first and then an olympic slam to win.

Tazz is stuck in WWF New York. He's gonna interview fans here, why are so many of them British?

Chris Jericho isn't even supposed to wrestle and his music is playing. He's mad about not having a match, Billy Kidman and Maven have matches. He's gonna stop Hulkamania too.

Oh hey Eddie's back again. Did he almost fall off the ropes during his entrance?

Lawler wants to settle who did the frog splash first. JR says it was D-Lo.

Eddie Guerrero vs. Rob Van Dam

RVD going for a bunch of quick moves early, he tosses Eddie and he almost flies the entire length of the ring, wow.

Eddie's going for a superplex and RVD jumps out of the ring to hangman Eddie on the ropes. RVD is doing all the flips he can fit in, and Eddie's countering moves into quick rollup covers.

Spinning heel kick onto the barricades, that's a tough blow to soften. Surfboard hold from Eddie and he's pulling RVD back, that guy sure is flexible.

Eddie really working the back submission moves, slowing this down but keeping it interesting. Whoa, Eddie walks the ropes and jumps to hit a hurricanrana. Frog splash coming, RVD is up though.

Oh god, sunset flip off the corner and that fall was hard. RVD must be broken in half. Eddie grabs the belt but the ref gets hit inadvertantly. Neckbreaker on the belt, RVD is down. Frog splash and Eddie wins the intercontinental title. That was a pretty good match.

Scorpion King made 36 million in one weekend, apparently this was a ridiculous number in 2002.

Austin and Undertaker both want a title shot. Austin keeps giving Flair the stunner. Guest ref is Ric Flair. Ha, he's got red boots on.

Undertaker vs. Steve Austin

Fans are really into it as there's a bunch of time wasted staring down and pacing around. The crowd's less into it as there's a long series of headlock battles. Austin showboats with some pushups.

Austin's throwing in some middle fingers, one of them gave me a chuckle as he's just taunting Undertaker now. This match is only 10% wrestling though.

Holy god Flair is a terrible ref. His awkward counting style is the least of his problems.

Walk the ropes from Taker. Thesz press from Austin. We're hitting all the spots.

Big boot from Taker hits Austin on the apron, that was a good big boot. Into a crowd of middle aged women they go, why are there a bunch of them at ringside here.

Oh here comes the nWo for some reason. "X-PAC SUCKS!" Thanks, crowd.

This match has been putting me to sleep for a bit here. Oh, and here's the sleeper holds to put more people to sleep. Hall and X-Pac are just standing around at ringside, doing their best to match the in-ring pace.

There's an exposed turnbuckle. Taker goes right into it. Bothg uys clothesline and are down, Flair forgot to count them both being down.

Oh no ref bump, Flair is down and out from a random collision. Stunner, Austin with the cover, Flair is still down? Ref bumps aren't as convincing when the guest refs are people like this.

Taker wants to bring in a chair, Flair throws it away and Austin with a low blow. Taker forgets to sell that and jumps up for a big boot. Oh, another ref bump on Flair.

Chair to Austin's head. Only a two count when Flair rolls over.

Austin's got the chair, Taker boots it into Austin's face. Austin with his foot on the ropes but Flair doesn't see it in a planned botch and Taker wins. Uh, the nWo never did anything after standing around at ringside for 15 minutes. The only thing missing from this match was one of Dennis Knight's characters running in.

After the match, Austin stunners Taker and drinks beer or something.

Coach interviews Flair and tells him he missed the foot on ropes.

Who on earth is this Rico guy with Billy and Chuck? These poor champs are stuck coming out first in their match. OH MAN AL SNOW but no Al Snow theme.

Billy & Chuck vs. Al Snow & Maven

Maven's getting stuck in the ring, but he hits an enzuigiri on Chuck. In comes Snow to clean house.

Rico's got those Hugh Jackman Wolverine sideburns.

Snow's getting killed by the champs in there. Oh, Billy runs into the corner by accident and does a crazy flop into the middle. Fameasser on Maven and Snow saves his partner.

Rico accidentally clobbers Chuck. Maven with the flying crossbody and a two count. Rico runs interference again, Chuck with a superkick and Billy pins to win.

Hulkamania is back and he wants the title!

Hulk Hogan vs. Triple H

This camera angle during HHH's entrance with Hogan behind him is fantastic. external image

Some early tests of strength and Hogan showboating gets the crowd going.

Hogan gets his ten punches in the corner, fans love counting along. Out of the ring they go, HHH gets suplexed onto the floor.

HHH is going after Hogan's old man knee now, fans are booing him for doing so. After a few tries, finally a figure four leg lock is on. HHH using the ropes as leverage, he's going back into heel mode.

Sleeper hold has Hogan down now. Hogan fights out, he's feeling it more and more. Big boot and a leg drop. But here's Jericho and he knocks out Hebner! Chair shot to Hogan! He wants HHH to win like this.

HHH won't have it, he tosses Jericho. And Hogan's hulking up. Another big boot, leg drop but it misses! Pedigree time. And out runs Undertaker?! He knocks out Hebner. Chair shot to HHH. He wants Hogan to win.

Hogan says no as well and fights out Taker. Leg drop, Hebner's back, Hogan wins. He's got the belt again. And well, guess we know who these two are both feuding with next.

Ha, HHH's face is all bloody, when did that happen. He wants to shake Hogan's hand, guess HHH is still staying a face?

This was a real WCW of a card. Things were fine until the last three matches came around.

Star of the PPV: Kurt Angle

Botch of the PPV: Everything Flair did as a ref (not counting the planned botch in this of course)

To think that at Summerslam a bunch of years ago Austin/Taker was actually great.

And to add to JaKyL's title update, there really isn't anything new story-wise either. Closest thing we really got at the time was Kane tossing HHH in the trunk of a car and threatening to screw him, until HHH hit the inside switch to open the car and escape (Trips even mentions this a week later!)
