You guys have voted, I have tallied which means it's WRITEUP TIME.

Anyway, welcome to the Board 8 Top 100 List. This is the 9th list done, with Holy Excalibur doing the first 8 and me doing this most recent one.

There were a good amount of votes this year, and without a Phase 2/3 I wonder just how the results will turn out??

As I said in the voting topic, I won't be using the freewebs site and will be instead posting writeups in this topic.

I'll try to emulate as much of the writeup format as Holy Excalibur does on his site, though I'll change a few things.

For the BGM thing I'm going to put a youtube link at the top of each batch of writeup so you can listen to the song in another tab as if a midi was playing on HE's site.

Anyway, let's get to DA LIST.

97.The Secret of Monkey Island
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 37; 4
Developer: Lucasfilm Games
System(s): Amiga, Atari ST, CDTV, DOS, FM Towns, Mac OS, Sega CD, iOS, Mac OS X, Windows, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live
Genre(s): Point and Click Adventure
Previous Rank: N/A

Guybrush Threepwood arrives on Mêlée Island, with the desire to become a pirate. He seeks out the island's pirate leaders, who set him three trials that must be completed to become a pirate: winning a sword duel against Carla, the island's resident swordmaster, finding a buried treasure, and stealing a valuable idol from the governor's mansion.

The Secret of Monkey Island is well-liked for its very humorous story and dialogue. With great dialogue such as "You Fight Like A Dairy Farmer! How appropriate, you fight like a cow!" why wouldn't you check this out?

Starting with our list we have.. a TIE

100(t).Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 36; 3
Developer: Atlus
System(s): Playstation 2
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 91st (List 7)

Nocturne is actually the 3rd game in the Shin Megami Tensei main series . It has somewhat of a different plot/setting than most jrpgs: It takes place in a strange post-apocalypse world and the main hero becomes a demon after the rest of the world is destroyed. The plot has been compared to a horror movie and there are a lot of choices that are pretty dark.

The Gameplay has been compared to Pokemon, but instead of cutsey monsters you have to recruit demons as allies. A lot of the strategy is knowing elements and weaknesses of your opponents.

Shin Megami Tensei games are notorious for being very difficult, so if you want a game that's LONG AND HARD this may be the game for you.

100(t).Planescape: Torment
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 36; 3
Developer: Black Isle Studios
System(s): PC
Genre(s): RPG
Previous Rank: N/A

Planescape: Torment is known for its story which is set in a Dungeons & Dragons-like setting. You start out by waking up on a slab in a cemetary. You have no memory, but you've got a lot of wordy tattoos all over your body, and a very talkative floating skull to fill you in.

The dialogue in this game is well-liked and can be affected by your experience, your intelligence, how attactive you are, where you are in the game, etc.

The game is pretty open-ended too, you can fight stuff, talk to many different people, choose quests that you feel like, etc.

The 3 classes you can be in this game are: fighter, magician or thief but you can switch between them whenever you want.

99.Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 36; 4
Developer: ArtePiazza
System(s): DS
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 76th (List 8)

A very popular game in the series, with a very well-liked silent protagonist.

The story is literally the life of the main protagonist from literally when he was born through his main quest that spans two time skips. You even get to choose who you want to marry.

The medieval setting and turn-based battle system are typical Dragon Quest-fare (though this game also allows you to have monster teammates) so if those are to your liking you will definitely enjoy this game.

98.Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 36; 5
Developer: Intelligent Systems
System(s): Gamecube
Genre(s): Strategy RPG
Previous Rank: 82nd (List 8)

The 9th game in the series and one of the most popular.

The game stars Ike as he fights for his friends as a member of the Greil Mercenaries. What's interesting is that unlike other games in the series, Ike is not of royal descent so the twists in the game are a bit more unique.

Fire Emblem games are Strategy RPGsare known for its defining gameplay mechanic: once a characters dies they are gone FOREVER. Path of Radiance continues this trend but also includes new features such as the ability to push lighter units out of harm's way and the ability to earn bonus experience by beating a chapter quickly. You then assign bonus experience in between chapters.

95(t).Paper Mario
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 38; 3
Developer: Intelligent Systems
System(s): Nintendo 64
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 57th (List 7)

The second RPG starring Mario, funnily enough this game was originally known as Super Mario RPG 2 before the name got changed.

Unlike the original Super Mario RPG, the plot of this game has the classic Mario vs. Bowser rivalry all the way up until the end of the game. Since Bowser stole the Star Rod to practically make him invincinble to any of Mario's attacks, Mario has to go through a long adventure to get the powers he needs to defeat Bowser once again.

The battle system is turn-based and Mario has timed attacks once again to make his attack stronger, and to reduce damage from enemies.

95(t).Golden Sun: The Lost Age
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 38; 3
Developer: Intelligent Systems
System(s): Gamecube
Genre(s): Strategy RPG
Previous Rank: 88th (List 3)

The sequel to the pretty popular Golden Sun. The game stars Felix instead of Isaac, the hero of the first game.

While it has typical JRPG elements the game is noteworthy for its Psynergy/Djinn system. The puzzles are well-liked too.

If you liked the first game odds are you'll like this one as well.

93(t).Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle)
external image
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 39; 3
Developer: Sonic Team USA
System(s): Dreamcast, Gamecube
Genre(s): 3D Platformer
Previous Rank: 78th (List 7)

One of the first Sonic games to be a Nintendo console, and quite possibly the most popular 3D Sonic game.

Sonic Adventure 2 has 3 different types of levels: classical running levels with Sonic or Shadow, shooting levels with Tails or Eggman, or Jewel Hunting levels with Knuckles or Rouge. While the classical running levels are the most well-liked some people like the other types as well.

The story has a lot of cheesy (in a good way) moments and is liked overall.

The Chao Garden, a system where you raise Chao by getting certain items during levels is very popular.

93(t).Soul Calibur II
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 39; 3
Developer: Project Soul
System(s): Gamecube, Playstation 2, Xbox
Genre(s): Fighting
Previous Rank: 68th (List 8)

The sequel to Soul Calibur and the 3rd in the whole series.

Soul Calibur is a 3D fighting game that revolves around weapons, just about every character has them. The game is loved for being easy to pick up and being pretty balanced in general.

Each console version has its own exclusive character: the Gamecube version has Link, the PS2 verison has Heihachi Mishima, and the Xbox version has Spawn.

91.Lunar: Eternal Blue (Complete)
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 40; 3
Developer: Game Arts, Vanguard Works
System(s): Sega CD, Sega Saturn, PlayStation
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 95th (List 3)

The sequel to Lunar Silver Star, and takes place about 1000 years after Lunar SS.

This RPG is praised for for featuring an enormous amount of material appealing to players on a personal level, particularly likable characters who mature, a good romance, good dialogue and a good soundtrack.

The story has a whole bunch of plot twists, so odds are you'll be on the edge of your seat as you play through this game.

90.Demon's Souls
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 40; 4
Developer: From Software, SCE Japan Studio
System(s): Playstation 3
Genre(s): Action RPG
Previous Rank: N/A

Another game that is noteworthy for being quite hard, mostly for not being able to save in the middle of levels. If constant frustration is something you can't handle, this may not be the game for you.

Nevertheless, even though this game is hard there are many people who love this game.

There are a whole bunch of classes to choose from, and there a bunch of ways you can customize the appearance of your character. All the action is real-time.

I'm not sure if the server for this game is still up, but there is the option to play with other people online.

89.Sonic the Hedgehog 2
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 40; 6
Developer: Sonic Team, Sega Technical Institute
System(s): Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, PS2, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, Xbox, Mobile, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Virtual Console, Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, iOS
Genre(s): 2D Platformer
Previous Rank: 94st (List 8)

The second-best selling game on the Sega Genesis at over 6 million copies sold. That says a whole lot right there.

The original Sonic games are praised for their mix of speed and platforming, and Sonic 2 executes this mix quite well.

The addition of the Spin Dash move, Tails as a 2nd player option, and 2 acts as opposed to 3 with more zones were all very welcome changes to the already well-liked Sonic the Hedgehog original.

88.Vagrant Story
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 41; 3
Developer: Squaresoft
System(s): PS1, PlayStation Network
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 84th (List 5)

While Vagrant Story is a JRPG, its unique compared to others for having no shops shops and no interaction with other characters.

Instead, the game focuses on weapon creation and modification, as well as elements of puzzle-solving and strategy.

In-battle you can target different enemy body parts separately to find weaknesses and use real-time battle abilities to make attacks more effective.

87.The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (DX)
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 42; 3
Developer: Nintendo EAD
System(s): Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Virtual Console
Genre(s): Action-adventure
Previous Rank: 65th (List 8)

Link's Awakening is not only the first handheld Zelda game but also the first to not take place in Hyrule or have Princess Zelda or the Triforce.

Besides those, all the typical Zelda game elements are there in handheld form with its balance of action, exploration, puzzle solving, and a bit of side questing.

86.Lunar Silver Star (Story Complete/Legend/Harmony)
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 43; 3
Developer: Game Arts, Japan Art Media, Media Rings
System(s): Sega CD, Saturn, PlayStation1, Windows, Game Boy Advance, PSP
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 99th (List 8)

Fact: The original Lunar Silver Star was easily the highest selling SEGA CD game ever.

A story-driven RPG that is so well-loved that it has gotten remade 3 times.

If you don't mind 2D graphics, the voice acting if you preview it first and like JRPGs this may be a game worth looking into.

85.Suikoden III
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 43; 4
Developer: Konami
System(s): Playstation 2
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: N/A

The third game in the decently big Suikoden series.

While it has many of the elements from the first two games it also has some stuff that are unique to itself.

For example, In the battle system instead of choosing one character to do an action, you choose attacks in pairs, based on the column they're in. There is no mute hero you have control over all the time, and instead there are 3 different stories you can choose from: Hugo, Chris, and Gheddoe. Their stories are all unique but they all tie in together into the main plot.

Of course the main charm in Suikoden III just like the other games is to get all 108 Stars of Destiny.

84.Super Mario RPG
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 44; 5
Developer: Squaresoft
System(s): SNES, Virtual Console
Genre(s): Action RPG
Previous Rank: 88th (List 8)

Mario's very first RPG and is very well loved.

What starts off as a typical plot to save Peach from Bowser at Bowser's Keep, turns into a quest to find the Seven Stars to save the world.

The battle system has action commands which you use to increase your attacks power, reduce damage from enemies, use items, or to run away from battles.

The other 4 party members that join are Mallow, Geno, Peach and as an ally for the first time in any Mario game, Bowser. The game is very lighthearted in general and has some funny jokes.

83.Fallout: New Vegas
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 45;3
Developer: Obsidian Entertainment, Bethesda Game Studios
System(s): PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genre(s): Open World Action RPG
Previous Rank: N/A

While the game has the same engine as Fallout 3, it is not a direct sequel of it.

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of the US. You take the role of a courier that has been ambushed by mobsters and tribal gang members, brought back to health by a sympathetic town doctor, and sets off on a journey to track down your attackers.

As you fight monsters and do quests you earn Experience points and earn perks every other level you gain.

82.Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 46; 5
Developer: Sonic Team, Sega Technical Institute
System(s): Sega Genesis, a whole bunch of others
Genre(s): 2D Platformer
Previous Rank: 58th (List 8)

Although Sonic 3 & Sonic and Knuckles were released separately the games are usually considered one for the connecting plot and having the exact same gameplay in both.

Like the first two games, Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a game noted for its great mix of speed and precision platforming.

There is a new character introduced: Knuckles who becomes one of Sonic's first real rivals in the series and with the Sonic & Knuckles add-on becomes playable.

81.Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 47; 4
Developer: Nintendo EAD
System(s): SNES, Game Boy Advance, Virtual Console
Genre(s): 2D platformer
Previous Rank: 97th (List 8)

A prequel of sorts to the whole Mario series in general. A game starring Yoshis where they and Baby Mario have to rescue Baby Luigi.

Although also a 2D platformer, Yoshi's Island plays a bit differently from other 2D Mario games. The main difference is that you can swallow enemies and make eggs to use as your primary form of attack along with jumping.

77.Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Points Received/List Appearances: 50; 5
Developer: BioWare
System(s): Xbox, PC, MAC
Genre(s): WRPG
Previous Rank: 73rd (List 7)

While not Bioware's first game, it's definitley one of its most popular.

One of the few Star Wars games that is almost universally liked, the game has many features that many a Star Wars fan have dreamed of.

In the plot you can select dialogue choices which determine if you end up joining the light or dark side and can change the game's ending.

While you can be a Jedi, there are a bunch of different weapons from the series you can use.

76.Catherine
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 51; 3
Developer: Atlus Persona Team
System(s): PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genre(s): Puzzle-platformer, Survival horror, Adventure
Previous Rank: N/A

Atlus' most recent new IP and apparently one of their highest selling games in America.

The story of the game is interesting one, it starts with the main character Vincent dating Katherine.. but once Catherine ends up in his life who will he end up choosing? The dialogue is mature, well written, funny, fairly realistic, and apparently has no real melodrama.

The gameplay is a series fo platform-puzzles. While the easier difficulties are more straightforward, harder ones can be quite hard sticking true to typical Atlus fare.

80.The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 47; 6
Developer: Nintendo EAD, Monolith Soft
System(s): Wii
Genre(s): Action-adventure
Previous Rank: N/A

The most recent entry in the popular Zelda series, and yet another one that does things a bit differently than most main Zelda games.

Firstly, the main villain is once again NOT Ganondorf and instead the "Demon Lord" Ghirahim. The other main change is that the game requires a Wiimote and Nunchunk in order to be playable.

Thankfully, for the most part people praise the motion controls and they work well with most of the items in the game, with the exception of a few being kind of annoying.

Besides those the game plays like any other Zelda game: you got your puzzles, sword fighting, items, dungeons, etc.

79.Ever17: The Out of Infinity
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 49; 4
Developer: KID
System(s): PC
Genre(s): Visual Novel
Previous Rank: N/A

Surprisingly the only full visual novel with routes that makes this list and that recently won the "Absolute Best Game Ever" contest on B8 where you can only vote if you've played both games.

The premise of Ever17 is that a bunch of kids go to a water amusement and get stuck there... saying anymore about the plot would be spoilerific but basically there are a lot of good plot twists and emotional moments.

Not many dislike this visual novel, and unlike many VNs there isn't any hentai which makes this VN easier to recommend to others.

78.Final Fantasy V
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 50; 4
Developer: Squaresoft
System(s): SNES, PS1, Game Boy Advance, Virtual Console, PlayStation Network
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 84th (List 7)

The 5th main game in the FF series, starring Butz.

Many people say this game has one of the best gameplay in the whole series because of its job system.

There are many classes you can choose from, which means you can pretty much make your dream team for battle. You can also switch classes whenever.

Points Received/List Appearances: 51; 6
Developer: Valve Corporation
System(s): PC, MAC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genre(s): Puzzle-platformer
Previous Rank: 27th (List 8)

Another puzzle-platformer on this list.

Although this game is only maybe 4-5 hours at most, the game is very loved for its good puzzles and humor. Having a gun that shoots two portals that connect to each other is quite unique.

The game has spawned a bunch of memes such as ones with Weighted Companion Cubes and cake.

System(s): PC, MAC, N64
Genre(s): Real-time strategy
Previous Rank: 56th (List 8)

The most well-known/popular RTS ever.

Being able to have 3 classes and have them be pretty much balanced is a very tough feat.

The characters are pretty well-liked too.

73.Assassin’s Creed II

Points Received/List Appearances: 52; 7
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
System(s): PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, MAC
Genre(s): Action-adventure, Open world, Stealth
Previous Rank: 75th (List 8)

The second in the series and usually considered to be a VAST improvement over the original.

The main character Ezio has more personality than Altair, the main world is bigger, there are more mission types, and assassinating people is quite fun.

System(s): SNES, PS1, WonderSwan Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Virtual Console, FOMA 903i / 703i, PSP
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 50th (List 8)

Also known as Final Fantasy II for the US SNES version.

FF4 is one of the most influential in the whole series, adding things such as characters with good development, the ATB system, and summon spirits. It's also a great game in its own right, getting ported to almost every gaming system imaginable.

71(t).BioShock
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 53; 4
Developer: 2K Boston/Digital Extremes/Feral Interactive
System(s): PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Blackberry, MAC
Genre(s): Survival horror, FPS
Previous Rank: 93rd (List 6)

Despite this game being a FPS it's surpsingly well-known for its story.

A bunch of research was put into designing the environment and story and it shows.

The gameplay is still well-liked with its mix of shooting guns and plasmids.

70.Dark Souls
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 54; 4
Developer:From Software
System(s): PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
Genre(s): Action RPG
Previous Rank: N/A

The sequel to the well-liked Demon's Souls.

Just like its predecessor, Dark Souls is known for its excruciating difficulty. However, while Demon's Souls was more linear, Dark Souls has a more open world.

You still have many classes to choose from with a whole bunch of customization and of course no checkpoints.

69.Star Wars: Battlefront II
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 54; 5
Developer: Pandemic Studios, Savage Entertainment
System(s): PlayStation 2, PSP, Windows, Xbox
Genre(s): first/third person shooter
Previous Rank: N/A

"Star Wars Battlefront II, at first, seems like a crappy licensed game that Lucasarts rushed out in less than a year in order to make money. This seems even truer when one finds out that its basically Battlefield in space. Why would anybody like this?
The back of the box says it all: Fight more of the greatest Star Wars battles any way you want.

This game is a Star Wars fans dream. One can pick from several planets from all eras of the Star Wars universe, play as the Clones, Droids, Rebels, or Empire, and play in Conquest (capture command posts while defending your own) 1 and 2 flag CTF (either take the neutral flag to the enemys base, or capture the enemys flag while defending yours), or just mess around in Hero Assault, where one can play as all the heroes and villains in the game. If one prefers the air, one can play on the several space maps and attempt to destroy the enemy fleet while protecting ones own. One can even land in the enemy ship!

In terms of who you can play as, there is the soldier class, armed with a rifle and grenades, a rocket soldier armed with a rocket launcher, mines, and only two grenades compared to the riflemans four, a sniper that also has two grenades, as well as an auto turret that can be placed to protect the sniper, and the engineer. The engineer is considered to be the best class due to having a shotgun thats powerful at close range, five health & ammo dispensers to heal and reload others and themselves, a fusion cutter that can repair things, and detpacks. Detpacks are like remote c4 charges, except that they can be thrown far due to the games physics, resulting in easy kills if used properly. Still, the classes arent too unbalanced. Lastly, each side gets two special classes. The first is a commander class that can give buffs to other units and fight, and another unit that is completely unique to a side. Examples include the jet trooper for clones and the droideka (the ball-roller droid from ep 1) for droids.

The single player modes arent bad, and include a campaign (which has actual objectives, unlike the first games), galactic conquest (capture all the planets in the galaxy), and instant action (play a regular game), but the bulk of the games fun comes from the multiplayer. The battles in Battlefront II are hectic and large, resulting in great fun. In Mos Eisley Assault, players can also just mess around and try to have jedi duels. My clan specialized in this mode. Speaking of clans, one could join a clan (there was no clan making system though) and either try to become a warlord by beating everyone one sees in disband wars, or just play for fun and not have to worry about having to use a stupid game to try to find some way to have power over others, since one would otherwise have none in real life because one is a loser who has no life.

The last important thing about Battlefront II, at least for PC players, is the modding community. Pandemic released mod tools that allow players to create new maps and mods for the game. Some of these mods include Hyrule Field, Besaid from FFX, a larger interior for the Star Destroyer, ground maps and space maps combined, and a conversion pack that takes all the maps from Battlefront I and II and combines them, with extra features like a KoTOR era. These mods really helped increase the play time of the game.

Many former Battlefront II players are waiting for Battlefront III to be announced. There was going to be one made by Free Radical, which was going to have land to space maps, but Lucasarts stopped the project. After that, Lucasarts decided it was better to make two bad beat-em-ups, an terrible managed mmo, and a Kinect game with dance scenes than to please their fanbase and give them what they want. Hopefully the rumors of Battlefront III being made are true!"

68.Kirby Super Star (Ultra)
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 54; 7
Developer: HAL Laboratory
System(s): SNES, Virtual Console, DS
Genre(s): 2D Platformer
Previous Rank: 74th (List 8)

Considered by many to be the best Kirby game ever.

Kirby Super Star has 7 gameplay stories/modes where you take Kirby and go through the levels of the worlds presented in each story. The gameplay is the same in all of them: you swallow enemies to absorb their power and you can even create a helper with a power you already have.

Some stories have different quirks like the Great Cave Offensive treasure collecting or the ability to choose abilities at will in Milky Way Wishes.

Ultra adds a bunch of new modes that are also well-liked.

67.Grand Theft Auto IV

Points Received/List Appearances: 57; 5
Developer: Rockstar North, Rockstar Toronto
System(s): PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC
Genre(s): open world action-adventure
Previous Rank: 43rd (List 6)

The most recent console entry in the series.

This is one of the biggest GTAs yet and the core gameplay is still there: either do missions or go around the city stealing cars, shooting random people, running away from the police, etc.

This is the most "realistic" game in the series gameplay-wise, some people aren't for it but some people like the change.

66.Kingdom Hearts II
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 57; 8
Developer: Square Enix Product Development Division 1
System(s): PlayStation 2
Genre(s): Action RPG
Previous Rank: 43rd (List 8)

The sequel to Kingdom Hearts and still starring: SORA, DONALD and GOOFY.

The battle system has been improved from the original having a bunch more options such as the Drive system and making magic a bit less spammable.

You go around to various Disney worlds and help out with their problems, while still enjoying the complicated main plot.

I think they're fine. I expect 90% of the people are only looking at the ranking and the game associated with it anyway. Why have three paragraphs when hardly anyone is going to read them?

65.Star Fox 64

Points Received/List Appearances: 58; 6
Developer: Nintendo EAD
System(s): Nintendo 64, iQue Player, Virtual Console, 3DS
Genre(s): Rail shooter
Previous Rank: 81st (List 8)

The second game released in the series, probably the only game most people care about, and the only one to get a port/remake.

The gameplay is well-liked for its open levels and multiple paths to beat the game... and there are even two good endings.

Of course, the most noteworthy thing about the game is the amazing quotes. The 3DS version even has a lot of the original voice actors hired in order to preserve the nostalgia of the original.

64.Super Mario Galaxy
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 59; 8
Developer: Nintendo EAD Tokyo
System(s): Wii
Genre(s): 3D Platformer
Previous Rank: 70th (List 8)

After the mixed reception of Sunshine, the fan reaction to Galaxy after it was released was surprisingly very good.

The first Mario platformer to be released on the Wii, and one of the most liked.

With its praised graphics and unique powerups this seems one of THE games to play if you have a Wii.

63.Devil May Cry 3
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 60; 4
Developer: Capcom
System(s): PlayStation 2, PC, PS3, 360
Genre(s): Action, hack and slash
Previous Rank: 29th (List 7)

Possibly the most well-liked in the series and was chronologically the first in the series before the newer game was announced.

The game has a bunch of cheesy (in a good way) and awesome cutscenes that most people who play seem to enjoy, especially since the main character Dante is pretty badass.

The gameplay is known to be quite hard but very rewarding when you finally beat it.

62.Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 60; 5
Developer: Rockstar North
System(s): PlayStation 2, PC, Xbox, Xbox 360, Mac
Genre(s): Action-adventure, Open world
Previous Rank: 95th (List 6)

Still highly considered to be one of the best sandbox games ever.

There are many things to do in this game: doing the main quests, stealing cars, beating up civilians, running from the police or literally stealing a Hydra plane.

61.The World Ends With You
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 61; 4
Developer: Square Enix, Jupiter
System(s): Nintendo DS
Genre(s): Action RPG
Previous Rank: 84th (List 8)

One of Square's more recent and more niche series but still pretty popular.

Some of the characters and the music do get praised by fans but really sticks out is the battle system.

You control two characters at one time, Neku on the bottom screen and his partner on the screen. You use the touch screen to attack with Neku and buttons to attack with his partner.

It can be complicated at first but after a bunch of battles you get used to it.

60.Final Fantasy VIII
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 63; 4
Developer: Squaresoft
System(s): PS1, OC, PlayStation Network
Genre(s): JRPG
Previous Rank: 47th (List 8)

The 8th game in the series and one of fastest selling in the series.

While there is that ORPHANGE twist and the gameplay has somewhat of a mixed reception the game overall is still liked by many.

At the very least most people who play this game at least come to like Squall, the main character.

58(t).The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
external image
Points Received/List Appearances: 63; 6

System(s): PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Genre(s): WRPG
Previous Rank: N/A

Not only many people's Game of the Year of 2011 but also many people's favorite Western RPG period.

The Elder Scrolls games are very well-loved for its open-endedness and this series is considered to tdo this the best. You can do the main quest, do sidequests like joining a theives guild, or even rolling down fruits and vegetables down a hill.

The combat is also well-liked, so basically if you are interested in medieval open-ended WRPGs you should definitley check this game out.

Points Received/List Appearances: 63; 6
Developer: Rare
System(s): SNES, GBA, Virtual Console
Genre(s): 2D platformer
Previous Rank: 66th (List 8)

One of the most well-liked platformers and SNES games ever.

You have the option of playing as either Diddy or Dixie Kong. Both characters are pretty numble and Dixie Kong can even glide with her hair.

The graphics (for its time) and the music are praised just as much as the gameplay, making the overall package very great.

A Game of the 00s Decade that didn't beat Rock Band 2 in a GameFAQs Contests by enough.

While the game looks like an FPS its a bit more open-ended than most.

While you have the option to shoot anything in your path, you can beat mission in many different ways such as being very stealthy or sniping.

56.Banjo-Kazooie

While this game is sometimes considered a Super Mario 64 clone, it does enough things differnetly and has a good number of fans.

There are a whole lot of collectibles in this game: puzzle pieces, notes, feathers, eggs, etc.

There are a bunch of moves that Banjo and Kazooie by finding Bottles the mole in the levels.
