Cena drops Rock to face Taker. Sheamus challenges Zack Ryder for the Internet Championship. Jericho is literally the Anti-Christ. Punk takes on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, great promos overwhelm the audience.
They also started their match by following the Code of Honor!

knew that orton gif from the title, so good. also take hhh as gm.
hhh in boring wm match will involve many more promos, guests, and totally kill raw as we spend half its time on hhh until wm, where he will then take over as gm anyway.
at least as gm he'll only get half an hour. the real mystery to this is what they do with foley. foley made sense as GM.

i seriously never thought the day when yelling YES YES YES YES YES YES (etc)
would become a gimmick in wwe, but it is. with random WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION inserted at times, to not be completely monotonous. i mean jericho was stealin' that last week!
but seriously, i don't know who made this gimmick but man. awesome. in other news, is anyone else confused how ace is still heel. like is this an experiment in 'how hard can punk bury somebody' or something. yeah, ace did two big heel things - ryder match with kane and punk screwjob story (which ultimately include ziggler's wins whoops) - but he was quite fair and just to a lot of everyone else. he screwed over the heels, he screwed over the faces. tendency leaned a bit more to the heel side but not exclusively and was more of a smark way than anything else. dude was pretty damn fine. like at the start of this it seemed like what hhh was saying - here was a guy who backstabbed his boss to get his position.
....except he didn't. in fact, he was the only one who didn't screw hhh. he warned hhh in advance that he needed to be more management-like (which is undeniably true and even he'll admit it) then the vote of no confidence bit happened. after that he took control. now at this point the story seemed like ace had been planning all along to get the position. y'know, the CONSPIRACY angle that truth started, then miz joined, then punk joined too before lawler did too. 'there is a force that does not want hhh as boss.'
that force looked to be johnny ace. and then the angle was dropped, nash came in, a different angle was run, truth got wellness'd, and the conspiracy that APPEARED as if it would lead to a major faction split of some kind never happened. nothing happened with it. instead ace got put into the GM position and has been pretty damn good at it. it's clear they had a storyline and for some reason through everything away to leave us where we are now. awesome truth + ace would've been a start, but you could've had others join too, like del rio, ziggler, swagger, etc. y'know, the group of 5 or so heels that got together to try to take hhh out of power? perfect group for a brand-crossing conspiracy. hell, you even have the means to kill it within the group itself, truth eventually realizing that he IS the conspiracy and decides he wants to kill it. or that he'll join it to kill it from within. gets you what that's different? face truth. like, y'know. what we have now.
now yes, del rio and christian are injured. so? use that as a statement of 'we've got positions to fill, ziggler's trying to fill in, are you interested' to some guys. pitch offers to have them join. actively recruit them.
but none of that's the case. instead we have dropped angles into ace and..... nothing really majorly negative that he's done that's had any impact, save for ryder's match with kane.

I see a wayyyyyyyyyy better and actually AMAZING angle they could take this with Trips turning it down. Instead of him saying his personal stuff is set aside and he is ready to GM so thats why he turned Taker down he turned it down because he now knows he can't beat Taker. Its going to be a reverse on HBK going crazy he can't beat Taker. He's going to go crazy because he knows he CAN'T. He gave EVERYTHING he had last year and even had his Sledge hammer and he TAPPED because he didnt HAVE IT IN HIM. He can't go back and try it again because he knows it's not in him to do it. What I LOVED is that if you watch the video again the music Taker's music hits there is a very small gasp reaction from Taker and then he puts on Gameface. I absolutely believe that was an intentional thing and not just Trips reaction to what was going on, as usually when someones music hits they just go straight to gameface. There was an small instance where Trips showed fear hearing Taker's music. The look in Taker's eyes although distant was very intense in an odd way.
I was not a fan of last years match but this got me hyped again
-- Circle gets the Scare! Imagine if Jesus knew kung fu. That's what everyone is dealing with
Also I think Punk retains, Bryan loses, Sheamus goes for WHC. Jericho goes after Punk and Bryan has a clause in his MITB contract that he gets a rematch at either title and he inserts himself into that match. Jericho, Punk, Bryan. Lets do it.

....a reverse hbk thing sounds dumb honestly. 'oh no i can't beat you' 'yes you can' 'but i did everything.' 'you didn't try hard enough, you could've done it!'
like, what. why would anyone run that storyline. it can sorta work with a student/mentor thing where the mentor's pushing on the student to try again, but something like that here? doesn't make sense. the only thing that does is further inflate hhh's ego that he's the greatest of all t-- oh.
welps, guess that's the storyline.

There's no payoff to it but, "The Streak is finished because no one wants to fight Taker anymore" is kind of a funny way to twist the whole thing around.
Taker: "PLEASE SOMEONE FIGHT ME! I WANT 20-0!"

Uh because its not Taker thats the mentor, it's HBK that comes back and says "I said you couldn't do it last year, but I saw something in you that you can do it." So it goes with HBK pushing for him to do it because he couldnt and to get his match Taker goes and tombstones HBK.

Maybe Tom is right and this isn't leading to Triple H vs. Taker.
Every week from now until WM Taker tries this schtick on a different person, getting more and more desperate each time, but they all rebuff him.
Cut to NXT the last week of March, when he's interrupting Bateman and Maxine's wedding and staring back and forth between the WM sign and a really confused Bateman.

this is *still* exclusively the situation of 'we are inflating hhh's ego so hard even people on mars can see it.'
this is a man who LITERALLY wanted to do a one man show and was cheered. it is incredibly dumb to make him like wwe's neo.
i mean the more i think about it the more i'm frightened it's the most logical thing they'll do based on booking, but that doesn't make it any better because it's a horrible thing.

I like it if only because it opens it up to a hungry young heel to demand the match as a chance to prov the belong ora chance to star in the "real" main event. Del Rio would be my first pick for the role but in his absence,(wang disagrees strongly) but I feel like the Miz fits here perfectly.
He's hungry, hes young hes brash. He just pulled out the Iron man performance of the rumble and he DESPERATELY wants to feel like he hasn't lost a step since last year. As a bonus his brawl-heavy style would work well with what Taker can realistically do at this point.
I personally would be VERY interesting in the Miz trying to get into the head of the Undertaker or take on a series of escalating challenges to prove he "belongs" in that match. Even in failure, a really strong showing could put him over big time and maybe even turn him face if so desired.

haha. now i can dig the 'no competition wants me whoops' angle. only the people he goes to have to prove themselves in a match first. of which he'd proceed to beat the up and comers who want in, sheamus too. kane would just laugh him off saying he's got better to do than a try at futility or something, and that'd leave us down to cena, orton, and punk. orton is busy with wade, cena with rock. and.... if this is punk/jericho there's that. but it's open enough that you could do punk/dragon too because it's not like jericho's getting boo'd ever. punk/taker certainly wouldn't be bad. he'd have to superman the EC. and if punk really wants to ME WM, that's certainly a match that could do it.

But yeah, that moment of hesitation Triple H had when he was about to exit the stage made it perfectly clear that this story is merely a story about Triple H vs. himself, his desire for personal glory vs. the good of the company.
Taker is just a plot device.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll come to some resolution where the Board of Directors rules that Triple H vs. Taker at WM is good for the company so he can move forward on it without regret.

and now I'm picturing Sting at the gorilla position waiting to come out, the triple h shows up and has some AWKWARD NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION~! then walks out to his music shortly after

other guys who could pull that off would be your standard assortment of 'you've been since forever.' show, kane, mysterio. hell, cena soon. only problem they have is the same one hbk/flair do - no element of mystery to 'em.
leaving jericho who's the obvious answer considering we had months of mysterious promos and a countdown timer already. >__>;

Man, I still can't believe Sting chose to ride out the end of his career in TNA over a huge WM match with Undertaker, a cushy retirement, a Legends contract, and 2012 HoF honors.
I mean, we don't KNOW that any of that was on the table, but if you're WWE and you see the reactions to people begging for Sting vs. Taker after that first video aired, you gotta throw everything you can at the guy to make it happen.

Kevin Steen @KILLSTEENKILL Not a bad Rumble in the end, although it did lack some Vince McMahon blowing his quads out, in my opinion. Sheamus winning it is good stuff.
