I can never get bombs to appear when I want it. You get fairies if you draw a Triforce, which I only managed once.

Ancient Cistern WOW. I'm so happy with the quality of this game's dungeons and am not even sure which of the four has been best so far. The third and fourth have been outstanding. The third had better puzzles but the game's only disappointing boss fight thus far. The fourth was awesome from start to finish.

Through the end of 6 I'd rank them:

4 > 2 > 5 > 6 > 1 > 3

I don't think 3 is bad or anything, but unlike the others I thought the "outside" puzzles in the desert leading up to it were quite a bit better than the dungeon itself, and it had a couple of annoying rooms. The rest I have only very minor problems with and have a huge amount going for them.

Nothing better than City in the Sky from TP yet though (not that that's a bad thing; I consider it one of the best designed levels of any game ever). I think I'm about to head for the final dungeon, so maybe that'll change!

city in the sky is overrated, half the dungeons in this game are better. this game easily has the best dungeons of any 3D zelda, boss battles could've used some work though, TP had better boss fights

Skyview Temple and Earth Temple had very nice atmosphere but were too short to be as good as some of the other dungeons in the series. Lanayru Mining Facility however is just as good as some of TP's best, if any of the dungeons are better than this, it looks like I'll be liking it more than TP.

City in the Sky is a bottom tier dungeon any way you look at it. Just because you thought it was cool to hang from the clawshot up in the air doesn't make it well designed. All the dungeons in Skyward Sword are better, and the 3rd was one of the best.

Skyward Sword lacks an actual sky dungeon of its own though. Obvious missed opportunity there. Instead we have (DUNGEON SPOILERS)two fire dungeons(END SPOILERS), wtf?

Luckily, the three worst ones are only used sparingly. Nintendo smartly put much more focus on the sword and beetle than any other items. Speaking of which...

Beetle: best item in Zelda history? Like GMUN, I really wasn't sold on this item before playing, but I love my pincer-y helper buddy now.

Another huge shocker was how I love the bow controls. Months ago I was incredibly worried by the Wii Sports Resort inspired controls. Now, it is more of a blend (you don't have to hold the remote upright, you just point like in TP), which is great. But what surprised me is that I seriously love the WSR-inspired part, the C-button and nunchuk pull.

You do have the option to press A, but using the C-button feels so much more satisfying, I just love using it.

Incidentally, I just spent some time getting the heart piece from the bow and arrow minigame and it made me not like the bow controls. I have absolutely no issue with it at all normally, but I found the minigame to be quite unpleasant. For whatever reason I had to recenter the damn thing after every other shot once the pumpkins start flying well to the right.

Man, this game is packed with stuff to do. I only just entered the sixth dungeon and my playtime is 41 hours. Twilight Princess took me about 55 hours to 100%. This is almost certainly gonna eclipse that.

No. Designing such a complex area to traverse, based on the clawshot, is one thing. Designing it such that it opens up again based on the item being a second clawshot is genius. How anyone can not be in awe at the best of those rooms is amazing to me - that's what Zelda can do that no other game can. It nails setting and atmosphere too, as well as having probably the best boss fight in the game. I can understand preferring Arbiter's Grounds or Snowpeak to it (they're excellent dungeons too, though I don't think they're quite on the same scale of brilliance design-wise), but to actually think it's a weak dungeon is crazy to me.

Skydiving is probably the only mini game I had any fun doing! now harp playing at the lumpy pumpkin that sucked and made me hate kina. what a *****, you try playing harp with such unresponsive controls!

also speaking of bad stuff, I need to draw an arrow on the goddess wall for the goron guy now and I have no clue how I'm supposed to do it, tried like 10 times already and all I get are hearts.

Arbiter's Grounds and Snowpeak are the best dungeons in the game. City in the Sky has bland design, bad music, a boss you pretty much have to bomb yourself to even lose a heart against, and most importantly cookie cutter level design. The only clever puzzle was one at the end where you had to climb up in the main room to get the boss key or something, I don't completely remember because despite having played it twice, the dungeon is completely forgettable IMO.

I think it wouldn't have felt so bad if it wasn't a sky dungeon, which should be a lock for awesomeness but they messed it up. I expected something like Minish Cap's absolutely amazing Palace of Winds.

skyview stacks up pretty well against other first dungeons, maybe not the best dungeon in the series but no one ever said that about inside the deku tree either. the fourth dungeon is actually where it starts getting much better though!

also agree that arbiter's grounds and snowpeak are better than city in the sky, CitS is pretty good but I would never use the word "genius" there.

end of the game was fantastic, don't think the credits were as good as they usually are, missing koji kondo here...and the badly sampled choir is really really out of place with live audio for the rest of the instruments, but great ending for a great game. I like how aggressively they rewrote zelda canon in this, WW and TP both played it very safe and were stale as a result...yet at the same time there are a lot of throwbacks or things that remind me of LTTP and LoZ, very nicely done how the game ties the whole series together with as many directions as they've gone and even does a lot of it's own unique things as well.

Oh yeah. What was up with the day/night thing? It was kind of silly having to cycle between day and night for events. There was no reason the nighttime events/items couldn't take place in the day. If they're going to remove the natural timed cycle and confine you to town they might as well just do away with it altogether.

yeah, gotta say that was one of the changes I didn't like so much. if you're going to have day/night it should be timed and give us some gameplay mechanic to manipulate it...at least you didn't have to always go back to the academy, no one seems to mind link sleeping in their bed...

I'd rather not read any of this topic, since I had to save SOME games for my Christmas list, and don't want to be spoiled on anything.

....... except when I was playing the demo 3 weeks ago, there was a room in the forest-esque Temple that I played in which I had no idea what to do. You jump down a ledge, and you go up some stairs into a room where you fight a spider. After you defeat it, there are three eyes on the wall, and a movable box hanging from the ceiling. What's the "answer" to that particular room? I feel like I tried everything, and I still wonder now what you're supposed to do there.
