I'm glad they shortened the rounds, but still, most of these matches were settled once 4chan stopped being silly, so we've been sitting here for five days with virtually nothing to talk about. Keeping track of the interesting matches isn't convenient either. I think that's the main thing where GameFAQs contests kill GameSpot contests. GameSpot's matches just stagnate because they take too darn long. Bacon hit a gold mine with 12-hour matches that keep things flowing and never lets things get bogged down in boring matches.
Maybe the problem of not having anything to talk about isn't that the matches take "too long", but rather the amount of fodder there is. I mean, we have 32 matches we could discuss right now AT THE SAME TIME for crying out loud, but there are way too many obscure characters in there which we don't even know how weak they are.
I think that if Gamespot got all of their problems fixed, but keeping the same format which I honestly like and think that has a lot of potential, then their contests would be a blast.

yeah... kinda screw things up for me... Only had 3 match wrong before Moogle > Athena
I have Athena > Cortana next round... now that won't happen =(
Anyone wanna make a bet about when the next round will ACTUALLY start... With GS tradition of always being late (and clearly now giving a ****) about the start of anything contest related, I'm guessing that next round will be up at......... 4:42 pm (eastern time)
Not having a set ending time is one thing Gamespot does screw up, though. They just say "We'll end it sometime today". What about matches that are really close and going back and forth, like the Moogle one? Are they just going to end in when their preferred character is winning?
Shoot, only 25 points. At least my Elite Eight is looking solid (Zero/Garrus/Yoshi/Toad/Luigi/Cube/Diddy)... Chocobo > Tails pick looks like a blunder though!

26 point with one guaranteed loss this round. Not terrible. Still wish I would have stuck with the joke picks. A damn it if Launchpad beats Zero and/or Einstein beats Yoshi.

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
I noticed that Gamespot has the banner to the matches on the front page so far, so its not like 4chan is just having their way here without any resistance. If they can take Lucca over Tails, this'll be a great contest.
I think this is Zero just being weak. Even though the vote totals for Launchpad blows away anyone else, Zero has less total votes than Toad and Navi. He seems to be a weaker character than Price. Even if 4chan wasn't intervening he might not be beating Launchpad since no character with his current vote total is winning a match.
I checked GameSpot's home page, and the only advertising they have for this contest is a small banner that you have to scroll down to see. It isn't being advertised with the other main stories, and there isn't anything on the banner that indicates that Round 2 has started.
What the hell, GameSpot.

LOL LusterSoldier, congratulations on being one of the lucky 7 guys out of 24000+ of people on having a 0-bracket.
I have 28 points, with no guaranteed losses this round IIRC.

28 pts in r1, decent. Had ROB going two matches though, and dunno what I was thinking with picking Louis over Clank. Maya and Wakka are the other mistakes.
also, haha at Einstein doubling Yoshi and Launchpad tripling Zero. Keep it going. every one seed is losing their match, too. This might not last long with Luigi and Otacon, but Tails and Yoshi are getting destroyed early on.
