The Guard - 7.5/10 : Nice little film, funny with a lot of charm.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Uhhhh, I don't know how to rate this. I had never seen this film before, but it was definitely an experience. I liked it, but I have a really hard time applying a number value to it. It kind of made me want to try acid though.

Some catch up...

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - 8/10 surprised I liked it as much as I did considering I didn't want to go see it in the first place.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - 8/10 Pretty solid, quite enjoyable.
Sherlock Holmes - 9/10 I prefer the first one, but it gets extra points for Stephen Fry as Mycroft.

That's von Trier for you, usually his films go about 50/50 with people.

Bellflower - 7/10 : I liked the first half more than the second, but it was pretty interesting.
The Descendants 8/10: Very solid overall.

I have been on a hot streak with movies lately and I am going to see The Artist tonight, pretty excited about it.

*SPOILERS* just in case

Too much time jumps during the movie, and the twists don't make sense. Or better said, you can't make a twist based on something not mentioned at all during the movie. It's just like the magic tricks. Once explained, it's disappointing.

I think The Prestige may be the best Nolan movie to infuriate someone who doesn't like him. It has most of his worst points, and nearly none of his best. I did love Memento, but this one was just err...

And yes, I definitely liked The Illusionist better.

The 80s is the only decade that I have seen movies from that felt "didn't age well." It seems as if shoddy storytelling was a lot prevalent then. For the life of me, I cannot understand how anyone can hold The Karate Kid in high regards

Winnie the Pooh - 7/10 : I can't remember the last time I watched Winnie the Pooh but this was really enjoyable. I felt a nice sense of nostalgia and I chuckled throughout the movie. I think it was also the perfect length, never felt too long or slow.

The Artist - 8/10 : I don't watch a lot of silent films, so this was basically new territory for me. Overall I found it to be very charming.

I don't understand it either. It has some cool moments (You're the Best...) but that's it. The second one is HORRIBLE.

I Saw The Devil - 8.5

Excellent film. Took a while to get the ball rolling but when it did my eyes were glued to the screen wanting to know what happened next. I won't give it a 9 because like I said it takes a while to get going and I thought the end dragged on a little. The middle of the film is some of the best revenge film I've ever seen.
