Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - 8/10: I think I am in the minority on this one in that I really liked it. Midnight in Paris - 7.5/10: Pretty solid, no real complaints. Meek's Cutoff - 6/10: Had a couple of excellent scenes, but overall I was just not into it. I was not a fan of the way it ended either.
Also, just to throw it out there, here is my top 5 for the year.
1. The Tree of Life 2. Drive 3. Warrior 4. The Artist 5. The Descendants
Still holds up strong thanks to its witty humour and charming animation.
Ice Age - 6.6
Pretty much what I was expecting it to be upon rewatching it for the first time since it was released in cinemas 10 years ago. It's an okay movie, though its puns/jokes aren't good, the story is a little too predictable and weak overall, and the animation is now pretty dated.

The Last Unicorn - I don 't even know what I just watched. The last unicorn gets turned into a human halfway into the movie then starts to fall in love with a prince....yeah.

3.2/10
My least favorite movie ever. I must've tried watching it twenty times as a kid, but I always either fell asleep because it was so damn boring/annoying, or just ragequitting and throwing on some Nickelodeon.
From: most_games_r_ok | #286 The Legend of Drunken Master - 9.5/10
I always thought this was Jackie Chan's finest work
**** yeah! I wish I could get my friends to watch it for once!
And some quick ranks to movies I can remember watching in the past few months...
Lethal Weapon - 8 Inglourious Basterds - 7, maybe an 8 just for "Bonjerno!" Iron Man 2 - 5/10... first half was leading to an 8, but the last third of the movie was just... it just wrapped up so quickly and uneventfully. I was really disappointed.

I've forgotten to do this topic in a long while so every movie I've seen in theaters since September!!!
Moneyball - 10/10. Who says you can't be romantic about Sabermetrics?
Puss in Boots 3D - 8/10. Surprisingly good. It was like an animated Antonio Banderas Zorro movie and not Shrek-shlock.
Drive - 4.5/10. It's something I definitely would see again to make a second opinion, but we mocked heavily after leaving the theater. And still do so. A REAL HUMAN BEING!
The Ides of March - 3.5/10. A good movie, I guess, but when it hit its dark moments, it felt... silly. Or something. It was just obvious in some aspects and not satisfyingly resolved.
The Muppets - 9/10. Saw it twice, loved it. Some songs and moments didn't fit well (Party of One in particular and the tied-in-a-bow ending was awesome live, but doesn't sit as well months later), but most of it worked out really really well.
Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows - 9/10. Witty, action-packed, well-paced, better than the first.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - 6.5/10. I left enjoying it (unlike Drive and Ides), but it was still a wonky movie. Enjoyed it well enough.
Haywire - 8/10. I'm extremely surprised it hasn't been selling well and audiences hate it. I thought it was kickass. A good story, a good turnabout, excellent excellent action scenes. It felt like Bourne without the damn shaky cam. ...Maybe it helps that I was fifteen minutes late into the movie itself? The scenes I missed sound kinda stupid for set-up after reading Wikipedia's description. But fun movie!

No u.

Seems you have an issue with Ryan Gosling.
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (remake) - 8.75/10
Again, A Dangerous Method was my letdown of the year, but there are people who liked it. Don't know very well how could they, especially Cronenberg hardcore fans.
I think I might as well post a Fincher ranking (watched all of them except for Alien 3)
Se7en > The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo >= Zodiac > The Social Network = The Game >>> The Curious Case of Benjamin Button > Fight Club > Panic Room
From: Menji76 | #765 Moneyball - 7.5 Would have been better with some more insight on the statistics behind it all.
It wouldn't have been made into a movie then because every studio would view it as a risk. The real conflict of the story is Beane's failures as a highly touted prospect leading him to want to, I forget the exact quote from the movie, to change the game. The sabermetrics aspect is just a piece of the puzzle and they couldn't go too in-depth or that would confuse the audience and detract from the conflict
Sad, I know... I was really hyped and about it and with very good expectations. I kind of left the theater with the same feeling than with Amelie (which I didn't like that much either). If it wasn't for Berenice Bejo it would have been a complete flop.
When the movie first started, there was sound but no picture for about 3 minutes. They only restarted the movie 2 minutes after they got the picture back on.

I remember watching Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End at the theaters and the film burned up. I had thought it was intentional since I could see how it was possibly pirate-related but that wasn't the case and I got a rain check
If I recall correctly, Menji loved this movie. But I just couldn't understand Cindy at all, or how and when did it start to downhill. I guess this is exactly the intention, that sometimes relationships start to sink and you don't truly know what went wrong, but I'm sorry, I disagree about that. Ironically, I think this movie would be better appreciated if you are single or better yet, if you have just put an end to a relationship.
Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling do a great work anyway. I love to see how Gosling played such a different role compared with the one in Drive. Oh, and the closing credits were amazing too.
The Help - 7.4/10
Well, this one has been the surprise of the year for me! I knew it had received mostly positive reviews, but before watching it, I thought I would be closer to the negative ones, highlighting how the film manipulates your feelings or establishing such a clear difference between good characters and evil ones (seriously, Bryce Dallas Howard's one is so over the top... I think that is the reason why she has been so overlooked). This is true to a certain extent, but there were some good aspects too. Viola Davis delivers a simply excellent performance, and I was just equally amazed with Jessica Chastain one (especially if you have watched The Tree of Life, in which she plays a totally different role) and her character as well. And of course, the "pie moment" was pure genius, in my opinion. I never would have expected something like that in such an "innocent" movie.
I will be watching J. Edgar tomorrow and hopefully Shame on Friday on the premiere night. So hyped!
Sure glad I didn't go to the movies for this. Bad special effects, Jordan defeating Parallax on his own (with the sun no less). I was expecting it to be disappointing but not that disappointing.
