Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - 6.2

Yeah, this isn't a good movie and there's certainly problems with the plot/characters, but it's still entertaining on repeated viewings.

Drive - 9.1

This will probably end up being my favourite movie of the year. I hope come the oscars, it at least receives a few noms.

Brooklyn's Finest - 7.5

Richard Gere's story progressively got better as the film went on
Ethan Hawke's story started out the strongest and stayed that way
Don Cheadle's story was kind of weak

When everything intertwined at the end, it produced a bit of a mixed bag in regards to each character.

This is the first Ip Man film I've seen, the others should be just as good.

The Blues Brothers - 8.2

Over the top police chases, excellent music and cameos by incredible artists, and funny throughout the film. However, it was just missing that extra "something" to put it up a notch

School of Rock - 7.5

I'm not into rock music at all, but this movie managed to take some rather interesting concepts and blend them in a way that is appealing to most audiences. It has some nice humor, and I liked the way each character was portrayed, with completely different personalities; you can see that every character in the group has real musical talent and the cast selection was just perfect according to the characters that they were supposed to portray (I particularly liked how the Principal was first portrayed as a strict teacher of discipline, and then a couple of beers later at a bar reveals her true self to the audience).

Even though this isn't my kind of movie, and I'm not particularly a fan of Jack Black, his teaching lessons looked genuine and believable throughout the film, which made me care a little bit more for the movie. The highlights of the movie are the final concert and (specially) the Staff Roll song. That last part was just amazing (AND very genuine as well!). Too bad that there are not so many interesting moments throughout the film to keep it interesting from beginning to end.

P.S: Yay, Miranda Cosgrove as the lead character in her group! =D Miranda FTW!

An Inconvenient Truth - 8/10

Very informative and educational, I got a kick in seeing the Futurama clip and seeing Matt Groening in the Special Thanks of the credits.

Technically perfect, probably the best Ive ever seen. But then there's no content and that ending was very disappointing.

Reservoir Dogs - 6/10
The concept wasn't bad, but it was just uninteresting and I didn't like any character. An average heist movie in my opinion.

I am beginning to realize that it is more prevalent in modern movies (for the sake of having a benchmark, let's say those released since 1990) to be front and/or middle loaded and have the back end be of lower quality in terms of story.

I mean, the best action sequences were towards the end but I just felt that the story dragged on a bit too long at that point and I wasn't as engaged as a result

The film that started the Disney Renaissance is also their finest work ever. The music, the animation. And of course, the star of the show, Ariel. All spectacular.
