Maybe Extremely Loud isn't the worst Best Picture nominee of 2011, after all!

Seriously, the imagery/special effects, cinematography and the acting saved this movie from being unbearable to watch.

The Muppets - 8.6

Wow, this movie far exceeded my expectations! It stayed very true to the source material while perfectly mixing contemporary material and was successful at entertaining children while including references and other bits of humor that geared toward adults.

Zookeeper: 5/10

Not as bad as I was expecting, a couple of laughs, but far too predictable and lacking creativity. Just average in the end.

Flags of Our Fathers is a great companion piece to Letters From Iwo Jima. Definitely not anywhere as 'bad' as people were making when it came out. Still not better than Letters though.

Speaking of Clint Eastwood films, I bought a DVD of Million Dollar Baby for $2 after finding out that my aftershave and PSN card didn't fully cover my Wal-Mart giftcard. I probably won't watch it until I head back to the house I rent.

Not really sure what to give this movie so 5 will have to do. More boobs, more action, more stupidity. And a lingering question of why was the first one given a sequel in the first place.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) - 8.3

Powerful and alluring. It was the first time that I have seen Mara or Craig, the latter I heard his voice in The Adventures of Tintin, in a film and I want to see more films that they have done.

My main gripe is that even if films are intended to be part of a trilogy, each of them should be made as if they were a stand-alone movie. I felt that the final 30 minutes did everything it could to buck that trend and I was kind of disappointed with the ending as a result.

The Lion King - 7.8/10

Maybe it was just the hype people were giving me about the movie, but this is way far from being one of the best Disney films. For a film who talks about the Prince of the Jungle and his way of becoming the King, it had a great lack of characters, and also 1 hour and 20 minutes isn't precisely the duration a film of this kind should have. It was like a rehash of Bambi and Robin Hood mixed together. Not to say it was bad, it was actually pretty good, but it's definitely overrated.
