Great game, probably the best of the series so far.

Also was a ***** to get the soundtrack for that, the OST doesn't loop twice and is missing some tracks, so I had to rip that from the game files and they were in some ridiculous proprietary format that can only be opened by Sony SoundForge, took me a while to figure that out.

First of all, I want to say a big "I'M SORRY" to Ed for not commenting about my birthday present (although, I gotta admit, Ed's overreactions on the subject in other particular threads were pretty funny to watch xD). I could give you a lot of excuses for not commenting about that (I was busy, I was out, I forgot it, bla, bla, bla... none of it matters, really), but I just want to say "Thank you" for an extraordinary birthday present and I would like to know: How did you know exactly which song from which game to choose for uploading?

Other than that, I haven't had the chance to follow the channel closely recently, but from the small bits that I've seen and heard (*cough* worldenddominator *cough*), you're improving your quality in your uploads, which is a great thing.

Keep up the good work guyz, specially now that the number of subscribers is increasing day after day!

I really can't say I like the... style, I guess? of MMX songs. I mean there's some neat melodies in there but whatever they did with the SNES sound chip just doesn't sit well with me.

And about the previous song, Capcom definitely has their own specific sound on the SNES sound chip. Sometimes it works well, sometimes not. I do enjoy the MMX soundtrack, and that one song is a really underrated one as it tries a different direction from other popular MMX tracks.

I think the most amazing of all the upgrades from the NES to the SNES was the vast improvement of sound and the wide variety of soundchips. Sometimes the quality of a particular soundtrack depended on whether or not the soundchip sounded well, and if it had varied enough sounds to make it not sound repetitive or weird or whatnot.

Fun facts: This is one of the most addictive games I've ever played, and my 4th all-time favorite game. This game also features what I once considered to be the worst videogame song of all time before Bad Song Week came in place to have a word about it.

VGMusic of the Day 394: Salamander 2 - SPEED (5 STAGE)


A track from the same series as Life Force and Gradius. There are arguably better tracks from the album, such as "Sensation" or "Dear Blue", but after many years of not listening to the album in its entirety, I "rediscovered" this track and took a liking to it.

VGMusic of the Day 401: Chaos Legion - feel no fear Stage ~Sky Gallery~


I don't recall any great memories of this game. While aurally and visually interesting, the gameplay was tedious. Of highest caliber is Hideyuki Fukasawa's score, which has a great blend of gothic rock and electronic elements. Initially I was only interested in this particular song, but I later grew to love the entire OST. While I introduce the game's music with this track, I will eventually return with more. =}

400: Never heard of that before, but it's pretty neat.
401: Not as neat as the previous but still alright.
