I'm good for now, but I don't wanna be screwed for when my bathroom runs out. All my local grocery stores are out, and even Amazon is out of stock. What the fuck is this shit?
Will I seriously have to resort to paying like $50 from a third-party Amazon seller or get the flushable wet wipes?

Yeah. I'm actually almost out. I haven't been to a grocery store in a little bit. Not sure if my local place is sold out. Flushable wet wipes aren't really flushable btw. They cause all kinds of problems

We get our TP at Costco. My dad buys one whenever we have one pack (whole unopened 5-pack of 6-packs) left. So while the current 5-pack of 6-packs is being used we have a whole 5-pack of 6-packs left. I always give him crap about it at the store because we don't need that much TP, but he always does it anyways. Then this happened and I told him, "Well, looks like your TP buying was a good thing cause there won't be anymore at the stores."

No one is hoarding Metamucil. Get ahead of the curve, buy a ton, and then just keep taking it until you're all bound up and stop pooping more than once every two days or so. And it comes out like a dry brick you barely need to wipe for.

The reason it happens is really simply because the hoarding at first was mostly people who just want to "get an extra thing, just to be safe."

An extra bottle of juice? No problem. Extra can of soup or two? Fine. These items are small, after all.

TP however is in large containers, and as such, is limited in how much of it there is in a given store. If everyone tries to just even get one pack of TP at the same time, the stores will run out far sooner than they will for any other product.

It's also because, when you think about being locked away for a prolonged period, you start reducing to essentials. Food and water, obviously. But then... you start to realize that you'll be shitting that whole time as well.

It's the one toiletry that's sort of a necessity. Make-up? Deodorant? Soap? You're going to be stuck in the house, you can either skip it entirely, improvise, or just get by via rationing if you're desperate. But you'll be shitting whether or not you want to, on a schedule you can't entirely control unless you're really regular.

So the first non-food item people tend to think about is toilet paper. And since it doesn't "go bad" in the way food can, you're more inclined to buy in bulk to be prepared for any future issues. And then the first wave of hoarders tends to set off the second wave ("I couldn't buy toilet paper last week because it was bought up, I'd better buy twice as much once it's finally available again!"). And so on, until you've got a long chain of people buying way more than they really need, and other people not being able to buy any.

Most bidets have a dryer built in. Or you use a towel (your butt is clean now, so it's no different than using a towel after a shower) or a much smaller amount of toilet paper.
