It's kind of baffling to me that stores only seem to stock as much TP as they expect to need. You'd figure stores would have like months of extra TP since it doesn't really go bad. I remember always thinking it was dumb when they'd be out of the type I prefer at my local store. Would be nice to just have a bidet though. If you tripped and fell in some shit, theres no way you'd just wipe it off with toilet paper and go about your day. You'd for sure wash that shit off as best you could. Theres no reason your butt should be different.

Shelf/storage space is a limited and valuable resource in most stores, they don't want to keep a bunch of shit they don't think there's a need for.

Most stores do keep a decent amount of paper products in backstock. But that goes quick when you have people shelf-clearing

I think you strongly underestimate the quantity of toilet paper most idiots have been buying. No store can keep that much in stock.

I'm pretty sure they do stock as much as they need. Why would you stock months of a product when you receive multiple shipments of goods every week? Warehouse space costs money. If they were to stock enough of every non-perishable item in order to be prepared for people going into hoard mode, imagine how big that stockroom would need to be to hold all the excess product during the 99.9999999% of the time people aren't in hoard mode.

There's no room in a store's backroom for that much toilet paper.

A local store of mine had TP!

They posted a note about no returns on massive amounts of purchases on certain items on every register which I guess stopped the hoarders

They're just going to resell it anyway.

My local CostCo is doing the same. On the plus side, at least certain products being hoarded do not expire so after this situation is over they will be supplied for the rest of the year.
