Hope the rest of the cast pulls out over this even if Im not sure it will matter. Director made a post saying hea unhappy but then deleted it. Frankly it is impossible not to see this as a massive warning shot from the studio saying we are willing to tank you and ourselves to deny war crimes.

Really to further tie this to the political and macroeconomic sphere the producers at the top have this entire year been deliberately tanking the industry for ideology with this and their intransigence over the strikes. And thats going to have a major impact. Its going to put a lot of people out of work, its going to destroy local cinemas and it could even have a broader economic effect.

It sounds like she basically told them she wasn't returning months ago. However, that means firing Barrera was entirely performative in the first place.

I think this past year has shown that studios are very willing to shoot themselves in the foot, arm, brain, basically everywhere in order to force compliance.

Given the timing, and how the scheduling with Wednesday was never considered an issue publicly until now, I feel like it's more likely that the studio agreed to let her out of the contract if she said it was because of filming conflicts rather than them being assholes or something of that sort. The timing here is very interesting.

If there is a Scream 7, I hope it bombs.

You look at Poland where the far right incumbents got their asses kicked, or Spain where the far right just flopped, and other places where there isnt a far right surge and it paints a different picture than places like the Netherlands, Finland, and others. I think what is happening is that the global economic conditions are causing governments all over to collapse, and in a lot of countries the prime opposition is the far right. In places where the right and far right are already in charge, they are losing power. I think were seeing a massive anti-government shift which is often but not exclusively tied to the far right. The bad news of course is that this could empower the far right in many places including the US and France.

I dont think its so much that the majority of my country all fell to the far right. But that it was the only movement that came together in a strong way and did not get split up.
The only upside is that indeed it will be difficult for Geert to get a coalition since he already cannibalized the other extreme parties to get to the top.

Not that the truth is any better, because what he is saying is a "Hamas is worse than Hitler". Those are two completely different sentiments and it is important to distinguish the two particularly with what Israel's current strategy is.

There have been multiple a shocking number of people in the government, in media, and influencers who have literally tweeted things like "The Nazis at least thought they were doing good, while Hamas knows and revels in evil" and "Nazis had shame, Hamas brags about their acts."

If it is "Nazis weren't that bad" that just makes them dumb/laughable in a vacuum. But what they're actually saying is "you know the very worst people that everyone uses as a barometer for human evil? this group is worse." It feeds right into what Grimlyn was just talking about.

The right isnt even that united either since they hate each other too. Its just sad that a large population of humanity would rather wipe us all off the face of the Earth than actually support positive changes for us like trying to avoid climate disasters and letting all people be equal. Lack of education and empathy are the biggest things that make people far right imo

People see themselves having less than they did a decade ago and they look for explanations. And it's easy to blame "those people" who weren't visible to them a decade ago. Then they cling to people that they think are like them.

Again I think its more a huge anti-establishment, anti-government move instead of necessarily a shift rightwards, but in many places that does mean a shift to the right. On the other hand, look at Poland, which was seen as a far right bastion for so long, worshipped by the likes of Trump and Bannon yet has now gotten rid of their far right government. Indeed nearly every incumbent government in an advanced economy thats facing an election is losing regardless of where it sits, all thanks to the cost of living crisis. People are desperate for change, which can be good or bad depending on where you are.

Its 2008-2011 with the crash all over again, and that resulted in a lot of nasty right wing governments, but also some progressive ones. The constant was that governments got thrown out all over the place. I think were seeing the same thing now.

But also, next year will have elections in the US, the EU parliament, India and the UK. Thats over 2 billion people and the first three are the three largest democratic exercises in the world. So it will be an absolutely huge year for global democracy that could define the next generation.
