Again, just look at the vote counts. Joe Biden had energy from people just wanting to get rid of Trump. That should have been enough but it clearly wasn't. If Bernie was here, I suspect 10% of people voting for Biden would have switched to Trump. No amount of "energized" zoomers is going to make up for that

I think a lot of people in this board are being extremely narrow minded about the American voter. Of course there would be Trump people who would have voted Bernie. Of course there would be Biden people who would have voted Trump if it was Bernie. Of course there would be non voters or third party voters who only would vote for a candidate they like. Voters are incredibly complex, and that's why it is hard to say who would do better in the election. You cannot assume that voters are so simple that "well if trump gets their vote, bernie would obviously be less likely to get it than biden", it REALLY does not work that way.

You realize there's a giant portion of the voting public that sits out elections right? Almost as if there's a huge untapped voting potential that hasn't been energized.

Couldn't disagree more. Bernie's campaign would have been completely different in every way and much more economically focused - could have made a huge difference in swing states, especially during a time like this. Obviously Bernie is not winning Trumpers and he's not winning Flordia, but I personally know quite a few people who stayed home that would have otherwise voted Bernie, my conservative mother included. That's anecdotal, so you can dismiss it if you want, but I still think it's worth pointing out.

We'll never know so there's not really any point in pontificating about it. It would have been such a different race.

Oh but it is. It implies that people are not responsible for their own situations in life. It implies that if you are white and successful, you are only successful because of "systemic racism". The majority of the people living in the USA in 2020 didn't even have ancestors in the country when slavery was a problem. Yes there are actual racists in the south and in rural, uneducated communities, but just assuming someone is racist because they are white is so insane it's hard to believe it is a mainstream "political belief"

We hit 50% of the estimated votes counted in Pennsylvania. Trump leads by 14.3%. That's 512k votes. I am super nervous. Seeing a lot of remaining vote in the Philadelphia area.

Trump now up 5 points in Iowa. Phew.

Trump is up 4.8% in Wisconsin with 61% in - the governor says he expects to finish counting tonight so I am seeing some hope here.

Trump still up 10.4% in Michigan with 49% in and 14.4% in Pennsylvania with 51% in.

Ohio

Trump won Ohio by 8.1% in 2016 and he is now ahead by 8.1%. I think that's a good sign for the other Midwest states - if he does the same matching he wins WI, MI, and PA.
