Question for Dowolf, why was it so important to track enemy HP so precisely in your run? It seemed like you weren't really in danger of losing any of those fights. Maybe I missed an explanation during the run?

IIRC, dowolf explained at at <=25% HP enemies could run (a feature not offered to the player lol) while dowolf's spells had a wide damage range of say, 10-25. So the general strategy was to whittle an enemy down to as close to the run threshold was without crossing it, then cast the spell and hope the RNG rolled high enough to kill them from there. If it didn't (and i feel like it never did in the actual run lol) you had to hope you could kill them with the chip damage before they fled.

Since the objective was getting EXP enemies running is very bad.

Yeah, I forget what run it was, but I think that got kicked off with a donation about how everyone donates to runners choice but it never wins, so they donated to name it that.

Also, the answer to this question is basically yes with a slight difference. (They faked a Windows 10 update last time.)

Now we come to the part of our AGDQ where I repeat myself and ask "is there anyone that actually likes watching TASbot live like this?"

The answer, of course, is there has to be and it always raises a lot of money. But I just don't get it.

To me, the appeal of the TAS block is that you spend all week watching people play video games as fast as humanly possible. Then you take the restrictions off and see what kind of wacky shit can happen when you play games as fast as inhumanly possible. It's fun and funny because it's so far removed from what you expect to see when you watch video games.

SMM2 showcase including a tool assist demo or something like that. They made very sure not to say TAS or speedrun in that, but including seemed to be a keyword there.

It's a whole lot of sprinting past stuff!

I love the From games but the speedruns are generally kind of boring. Some good skips but other than that a whole lot of nothing for most of them.

edit - that said I haven't seen a Dark Souls one in a few years so many there's some new cool tech that really breaks the game. But most of the time it's an occasional clip through stuff to get past artificial walls and then more sprinting

Dark Souls was fun to watch as I only played it for the first time this year so this was my first exposure to a speed run of it.

Wind Waker was the best run I watched so far this GDQ though. I missed a lot of good stuff I wanted to see during the day though
