Sonic Mania What It Is: The fifth game in the Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis series. - What a gem! Lots of fun to be had, though it was a bit easier overall than other Sonic games I've tried (and failed) to beat. Actually, withSonic Adventure 2: Battle, I believe this is the second Sonic game I've ever actually beaten. I still have to get all the Chaos Emeralds someday and truly truly finish it up in style, but actually defeating Robotnik for the first time ever (SA2 was Eggman =P) feels good. One thing of note: I didn't even realize I was on the final boss for about two weeks now. I just kept quitting because I didn't want to use up any continues... not realizing this was the very last level. Only today did I play well enough to actually get some extra lives and hit the boss where it hurts most. We Happy Few. I was super hyped for this game when it first announced based on the setting. The final product is a letdown sadly. Very buggy, including major issues that forced me to close the game and do a reload (loading screens spawning every 10 seconds, loading screens that never finished loading, required objects for quests that didn't spawn, getting stuck in an infinite jump animation, etc). The plot didn't do enough to justify the gameplay. 11/50 --- Save in the name of true love ~Project 1000~ ... Copied to Clipboard!

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales What It Is: Cardcaptors, A Rivian Adventure - There are times I had while playing this game that I thought it wasn't as good as it looked or sounded, that the combat had become far too easy and the choice-making dull or lackluster, but as things wound down towards the end (and I was out of that miserable swamp), I just appreciated everything it was and how many choices I made in the beginning came back towards the end. If it weren't for how easy it is to max everything out and curbstomp everything but a few choice battles and custom deck puzzles, I'd replay this in a heartbeat making different choices and seeing how my army, and the story, grew differently. I'm proud of how my game ended, and appreciated the tales woven and the characters introduced. oh hi, signing in for the first time this year with 4 games so far
Game by a developer I'd never tried: Kingsway This was fun. I put a few days into it and got several endings, didn't go for 100% cause it started to feel tedious. I liked the retro feel, but there were really only so many viable "builds" to go for. Platformer: Celeste obviously this is in the "games of all time" category but yeah. Got 100% in this game. It's amazing. Puzzle: CrossCode I enjoyed the hell out of this and I'm not entirely sure how to categorize it. Puzzle RPG Platformer? The story was pretty sweet, if sometimes predictable, and some of the puzzles were waaaaay hard. But it always felt good to progress. Still waiting for that post-game DLC! Romance genre: Highway Blossoms Very lovely little game. I didn't actually expect voice acting when I started, and I certainly didn't expect good voice acting. I like the fun mode you unlock afterward, and going for 100% achievements meant getting the absolutely hilarious Desert RV achievement. Puzzle: CrossCode Yessss <3 <3 50. Beat three games in a series (First game) Dragon Quest II (Mobile) What It Is: An incredible test of patience and perseverance in an age before GameFAQs, updated to be much easier to stumble upon the crazy things in the middle of nowhere. - While playing and looking forward towards likely adding a few more Dragon Quest games to this list, I looked up a ranking of Dragon Quest games as well as their recommended platforms. I learned how this was probably the hardest and most frustrating of the early games, and I can definitely understand why. I gave myself the task of not consulting a guide once... after using a guide in the beginning of the game to find out where the hell the Prince was after running back and forth for an hour or two (had to talk to the king). But, after about four or five days playing at work, I pushed my way forward little by little: going back to every town to talk to NPCs noting everything I don't think I'd done or said yet (...I still don't think I ever found the Echo Flute); drawing pen and paper layouts of confusing stair dungeons, of which there were many; forgetting I had to use items constantly and skipping places for hours. It was actually quite fun for the situation I was playing (i.e. to pass the long quiet downtime at work waiting for phone calls), but I think I would have quit out if: a. I was playing at my leisure at home, and b. it was the NES version. There were some nice anti-frustration features added to this game like glowy spots on the ground where key items were and a roadblock to the final area if you didn't have all the items you needed. I played on mute though so I didn't hear any of the soundtrack. --- "In my headcanon, some staffer saw Trump pull out his phone and start typing so they just Terry Tate Office Linebacker'd him out of his shoes." - FFD ...
