True. In my case I work defending kids. Making sure Chester is not working at the place where you send your kid. Sadly the pay has caused turn over and people leaving which causes back log. In our case its easy to say you dont want to pay the salaries of some government employees until the lapse causes an issue where Chester somehow became employed at a school or daycare.

Protecting kids is everyones responsibility whether you for the government or not

In some cases I agree. However keep in mind many jobs out there such as children services those workers are not considered law enforcement though they are pretty much there protecting kids without a gun. One worker was killed last year protecting a kid.

Sadly we cant have protection and we have always so much work to do and so little time and we cant keep people.

I get it and in Texas government workers get paid crap but you have good benefits so there is a trade off. However, government jobs do uplift people out of poverty and give people a purpose or chance to excel and do a public service.

Because, when a private entity continuously overspends its revenue by 150% and accumulates a debt measured in trillions, that private entity ceases to exist and there's a decent chance someone is going to prison for it.

I'm not totally sure who this is going to affect, as a non-American.

Civil Servants but Politicians are paid according to various State constitutions . Each state within the United States has its own government and army to defend the state.

In Texas the Congress for the state makes $7,200 per year, plus a per diem of $190 for every day the Legislature is in session (also including any special sessions).

I agree with tightening government expenses and this probably wont have a profound effect on 99.999 of the workers.

That said, if it keeps up this will lead to a higher economic inequality and be detrimental to the economy.

And it's adding insult to injury doing this after the tax cuts (bc of course stuff like this was going to happen) and giving the military a raise of 40 billions.

There's a 1 trillion bufget deficit looming over so they'll probably keep doing stuff like this.
