Dark Fina gives you the option to take 5, yes. All you need to do for Hein is non-elemental magic damage, and her +2 Ultima is one of the best available options. If you're not being held back by having to bring a bunch of bonus units, just bring anyone that can use good non-elemental magic.

Bleh, I have to make use of both D.Fina and Exdeath in my team to kill Hein.

Aria and 2 saras with a friend OK make up for it and get me 1.3k per run, but I hate that not even my D Fina alone can solo it.

What's her Mag? It seems like the pure solo amount is somewhere between 900 and 988, slightly lower if you can get Sara's limit up for a mag boost or break Spr (assuming Ultima +2 of course)

Yea, I still need to nab a few 3rd-tier crysts for Ultima +2 and my max is probably around 750-800 ish?

while that's "pure" solo you don't even need it that high if you include a break or buff. mine has 860 MAG and easily handles it with 5 bonus units. Sara's LB/Faith + World Destroyer/Deshell on Hein do the job. i put WD on my Aria for friend units. Faith is gotten from like 3-4 different espers.

without any of that she leaves him between 20-25%. one WD handles that.

option 2 is Ace. he definitely has to deal the 2nd most damage, DW Wild Card with Undead Killer/on Odin can win in 2 rounds.

if you're opting for 2 rounds, Fryevia becomes viable again because far as i can tell the first element he becomes weak to is Ice. just have confusion protection.

I have to rely on three of my units, but I only have two bonus units anyway, and I'm not pulling at all anymore. I got lucky with today's daily giving me Desch, and one ticket giving me Sara. But no good Mag TMRs and no Rod Mastery means Victoria is stuck at 700 Mag, and she doesn't have the MP recovery to get through, so I'm stuck using Zarg and 9S for battey and breaks. Even with breaks it's two turns for Hein though, so I'm not exactly breezing through.

Some people have figured out that sticking Ring of the Lucii on their Onion Knights is a good way to do some work.

Can OHKO Hein with my other mages. Had to end up using Zargabaath though.

i mean i put Aria with World Destroyer as my friend unit but if people want DF to be it instead i can make it easier for one of the times you do it.

granted, i'm now running with two Aria and two Sara so i tend to play whenever i see an Onion Knight. don't forget that this weekend is also Gil Snapper so if you've been low on funds, now's the time to get a couple mil.

That's all I've been doing... Hein what? I ran 5 nrg Hein 3x yesterday and today just to satisfy the daily quest lol. Then on Tuesday I plan on wrapping up LAST WEEKS Story Event lol. I should get around to Hein's Castle thingy somtime next Thursday I'm guessing lol.

Hope I didn't need much from the Mog King this time around >_>.

X-Death can one round Hein with dualcast Meteo. Desch's Mag/Spr break does good work though. Before he had that I sometimes couldn't kill in one round. So my Desch should be useful for that for you guys too if you have a decent mage.

I can set friend unit back to X-Death if people prefer, though without some form of break or mag buff he can't quite one round.

I can tell I'm just shy of what I need on Victoria being able to one-shot, though I may not be able to get what I need. I'm considering spending some stamina attempting the Ocotopus Trial for Rod Mastery, but that's likely stamina better used for Hein.

So on that note, since I do need to do the trial anyway, what are the general requirements? I see that two tanks are pretty popular, and as soon as I get his LB up I'll start leveling my VoE to go with WoL. Breaks I know are essential. Tidus brings water resistance, but I know I have to use an element other than water if I want him to do any damage. And I have no idea if Zarg or Marie are at all useful as support units, as I know Rikku isn't as popular for the trial.

Is this a trial I need a good TMR loadout for? Or will I be able to do without?

I passed it with everything but Libra cast (because I forgot to bring a unit that could do it) with:

Warrior of Light
Marie
Tilith
Fryevia
Friend Fryevia

You could probably get by with any dual chain dps if you can manage it. Marie needs to be awoken so she can damage reduce and prevent ailments and then have her keep up Love You All or Dual Caster Barwater Barearth for the party. WoL kept them broken.

How do you maintain MP? Marie's abilities are kind of costly, and WoL doesn't have the highest MP out there. My Tilith has decent MP regen, but I can't imagine she's be able to keep up either. I'm guessing Orlandeau will be better than Tidus, but I'm also guessing I should at least wait until I nab an Excalibur for him?

Tidus will actually be a LOT better, since he has a party 100% water buff/party MP refresh on one ability, and that's in addition to his own innate water resistance. You can equip him with whatever elemental weapon you choose, but he can also provide party buffs as well. Even if you bring him as pure support, he's an excellent unit for that trial.

Hmmm, I may need to see if I can get a Tidus friend to equip something other than Brotherhood to try. Not sure which element would work best honestly, but I guess as long as it's not water I'm good. So WoL, Tilith, Marie, Tidus, and friend Tidus. And that's only if I want Acid Rain, otherwise I can bring Zarg for additonal benefits.

Am I going to be screwed if I don't have a ribbon? I have yet to pull a Kefka, and Tilith's TMR is only at 20%.

Also, dur, I have two Pods. Chained they let Victoria slaughter Hein in one turn. Still have to keep her MP up with Zarg, but I can now one-turn him. Not one-shot, but better than taking a hit and risking Vic getting confused.

You want to apply water/earth resistance as needed on top of enough HP/SPR.

Offense break on Ultros.

Have a source of wind if you are not curbstomping for Typhoon.

A tank to cut down on healer getting killed. (Or Tetra for Tilith.)

Break prevention is useful against Magnitude 8.

Kill Typhoon first. Do prepare your butt for tentacle rape after it dies.

I've heard some people say she's better than Sephiroth since you can build her defense up and still attack, but I'm not sure. If we have the step system by the time they get here I'll hopefully get both!

You have a lot of time to decide if you're doing normal TMR grinding. That last 0.3% is usually around 150 Earth shrine runs!

I ran Gil Snappers like crazy over the weekend, got 5 million in turtles. I needed it so bad, I was down to 45,328 gil at the start of Friday. I even burned about 30 of those 10 nrg pots.

I still have two more of those Veritas Story Missions to do and then I can finally start grinding out Hein Castle stuff.

It was a complete waste of energy, but I gave the Octopus Trial a quick run last night. I say it was a complete waste because I was too tired to be able to pull off perfect chains with Tidus, and without a shared element my damage was pretty paltry, so I doubt I would've been able to get through the trial. But I may be able to pull it off, assuming I won't run into too many hiccups and can actually chain properly. I'll probably have to skip using Tidus' support skills, as I need as much damage as I can get, but it might just be doable.

Shouldn't be any issues if I use Tidus with the wind-element weapon, correct? I know I need someone with it, and he seems to be as good a choice as any.

Eh, if you can make good damage with it, sure. Otherwise, I'd just go with water chains and just use someone to hit wind when needed.

Orthros has 200% Water Resist, so water chains wouldn't beat the trial for me. Unless Tidus imperil would help, but I don't think it would. Or am I misunderstanding what the numbers mean for damage?
