Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Ace at all, but opted to give him his enhancements, and I haven't been let down at all. I regret calling him trash.

He and Elza are fully enhanced and both have been quite useful to progression. I'm sad that my Elza is starting to putter out in the power creep though and that I might have to bench her soon as the 60% defensive breaks and bonus spear mastery are starting to get overshadowed by newer, shinier units.

With the right setup this trial isn't terrible, it just relies on a lot of RNG (whether or not the Rikku's can get their limits up, Setzer's dice). Having chainers with Pods and fire/thunder elemental weapons to abuse Ace, as well as having him as a MP battery makes it a lot more doable too. I gave him Rikku's pouch for chaos grenade on off turns to blind the babies as well. It takes a pretty specific setup, but can also be done with Chizuru instead of pod users I guess. Really need those double Rikku's for the cheese method though.

Does this trial require luck in the sense that you need specific units and specific TMRs, or can the anyman player eventually beat it as well (while it's still a relevant trial)?

There was a video of someone clearing it with 2 Rikku, 2 Chizuru, Setzer, and a friend Ace so it can definitely be done by anybody, you just need luck on the RNG with Setzer's dice and getting Rikku's limit full. The more HP you can give everybody the better (the Nier event was great for this, since they were just tossing Adam's at us). You can get a lightning elemental katana and use lightning for the chains, and still be able to take advantage of Ace's lightning imperil. The one thing you'd need with that path is a lot of status immunity though, since there's no room for anyone like Marie to block all of the status' Marlboro will toss out.

Really just one, there are too many other bases to cover. Unless you're using two additional Setzers to chain there's not much value in bringing more.

Dark Veritas is an awesome Pod candidate for this one due to his dark absorb. He doesn't die much.

Would Ashe with a Ribbon be useful for Malboro? I use Ashe with a Ribbon on my Arena team, and she's an MVP when I lose first turn and get cursed carded.

I tried the double Ashe route for both heavens fury and thundaja building, and she can't crank out enough damage. Was hoping that would work but it was a failure. Someone else in the ffbe board tried it with one of my Ashe's as well and got the same result. You need to be able to hit 400k AoE damage minimum to finish it off.

I was thinking more along the lines of Ashe just being there to ensure status ailments aren't an issue and then whatever else was needed for the fight. I have other units that can status clear, but Ashe is handy because she covers all of them for the whole party and deals a little damage too.

I know there are far better targets, but I really want more people that can work well with Tidus, and while I know he has an amazing imperil attached to his LB, and that's perfectly fine for longer fights, I need someone that can toss an only marginally weaker imperil on at will. I'll grant you that without her own TMR she's pretty weak, so it's not like she'll come out for anything other than raids, but I still feel like she's a worthy investment.

That and I'm still hesitant to enhance Soleil. I know she's got amazing buffs, and she looks amazing, but still...

The next event is King Mog's FF III Castle Hein event! And no, previous FF III characters don't count. Sorry Refia, keep going on expeditions lass. We get two new Global exclusive abilities, the Desch specific Casanova (HP +15%, chance to Cover female characters. Doesn't specify what type of damage though), and the Aria specific Water Maiden (SPR +15%, Water Maiden Blessing Ability 3 turn Regen). The bonus enemies are Sea Lion (Aqua Killer) and Ouroboros (Demon Killer, but be careful because it can petrify).

The featured Summon for FF III include 5-6* Onion Knight (best chainer for now?), 4-6* Desch (dat +45 ATK TMR), 4-6* Aria (get your Healer right here), and 3-5* Sara (... I got nothing. Other than how possessive she is of Ingus in the ending)

That's not all! The story continues after Maintenance, and it's up to us to stop the Eight (wait... Two? How many are left again?) Sages of Hess. Also Tetra Sylphid will join our Esper Ranks as the Wind esper. We're all drowning in Magicite right? Right.

I have a 9 week old daughter, so being up at nights is far more common than sleeping. I did 3 lapis refreshes near the end to solidify my spot in the top 5k since I wanted the next reward tier though.

So I finally have my second DW, and now the question is who it's better to put it on. I don't have great TMR selection obviously, so Orlandeau and Aileen would be only partially built at best. Mages don't benefit from DW nearly as much, right? I know Ashe and Victoria don't, and they're the mages I've max leveled so far.

Suddenly wondering if this was the best investment for my moogles. Oh well. Next up is getting the 25% I need for my second Pod 153, and then from there speeding up Dark Knight Soul. After that Tidus doesn't need much to really hit his best (a Bracer, Save the Queen, and Black Cowl are all I'm missing, and those won't give him so much more attack that I need them now), Orlandeau and Aileen are more backup units than anything else, so it's probably on to mage-related gear. Magistral Crests, L&A, things like that.

Even using Switch controls, I feel so far behind. I know it's because I started late, but it kind of sucks knowing I'm going to miss out on doing a lot of content immediately because I'm nowhere near geared.

Oh, and of course there's a Mog King event right when I go on vacation. Thankfully I'm only going to miss four days of it, but bleah. At least it's for an event I know I'm not pulling anything for, so any of the unit exclusive stuff isn't a high priority for me. I don't think I'll even do the dailies.

You didn't make a bad choice getting a second dual wield, you will use it. Orlandeau and Aileen are meant for chaining, so even though you want to eventually get them high damage, just making sure that they can chain to begin with is the important first step. So even if Orlandeau is using a Runeblade or Durandal for his Light weapon, he's still performing his job.


When I first got Orlandeau, I didn't have a copy of Dual Wield yet because of no Zidanes, and eventually I got one and bust out a quick 100% moogles worth of TMR and put it on him, and his two weapons were Durandal and Blood Sword. I think his attack was just north of 500. Didn't matter, he still did his job, and with that I was able to start getting trials done to improve his gear.

Okay, suddenly much happier with my Water Veritas pull. Those enhancements look so tasty for when they finally do come over. Dual Cast Waterja and either her or Tidus landing a 100% Imperil? That just sounds yummy.

But her enhancements are a long ways off, so until then she'll be leveled and become an expedition monkey.

I wish Veritas of the Water's skillset was on a character I liked more. She seems to be the perfect fit for where I want my team to go but yeah I'm not using it. I'll just use my suboptimal X-Death instead.
